<itunes:summary>This was the one that nearly killed us.
Somewhere between Episodes 2 & 3, our heads swelled and our minds effortlessly filled with creative flights of fancy as we felt our one true calling was to create a show of heretofore unheard of epic proportions...
It clocked in at 3 hours, 59 minutes and 12 seconds--no, no, technically, it's not quite four hours (though we will admit it was over an hour and fifteen minutes longer than the previous episode). And we weren't exactly teaching people to speak foreign languages. Had we no shame? Well, we did. Plenty of it and it nearly brought us to our knees. This episode would separate devoted fans from fair-weather friends. (Though, combined, we could still probably take all of them out to dinner without a reservation. In one cab.)
This was how we originally described it (yes, we were self-medicating at the time):
Or as we like to call it Podcaster In Meltdown. The best show you've never heard returns with everything you could possibly want to know about Mary Poppins in the West End, DV8 at The National, London's first gay wedding expo and the passing of Six Feet Under--these are matters of life and death, folks. An epic view of cultural London--not for the faint-hearted and certainly not meant to be consumed in one sitting. Feast your ears on that. Enjoy!
But still. There were plenty of highlights. Looking to hear someone talk for over an hour about Mary Poppins? We've got it. Though the highlight comes in the form of a 10-minute interview with my 7-year-old niece, Madisen. And everybody needs to listen to someone eulogise the passing of one of television's greatest dramas, Six Feet Under. (Especially SFU fans.) Hey, my heart was in the right place.
The big highlight though came with our first remote interviews, in honour of the UK's Civil Partnership Act of 2004 which came into effect just as this episode was published. So off we went to The Modern Life Show, billed as the UK's first gay wedding expo and brought to light that, as ever, there's nothing controversial about the power of The Pink Pound.
As you can see below, there were plenty of music clips. We thought we'd play The Hustle to get you in the mood for the office party season.
We even thought we'd be back before the end of the year with a holiday show...but more on that lost episode at a later date.
