Executive producer J.J. Abrams who produced movies such as Cloverfield, Star Trek  and Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol and TV shows such as Alias, Lost and Fringe has a new show called Revolution scheduled for release this fall season.

From the just released trailer, the show looks interesting and I hope it delivers as I’m watching less and less shows at the moment.

Reserch In Motion (RIM), the maker of BlackBerry smartphones and the BlackBerry PlayBook tablet, is joining with Dunkin Donuts to offer BlackBerry customers free treats during the month of May.

Starting next Wednesday May 16, BlackBerry smartphones and PlayBook users can show their devices at Dunkin Donuts stores throughout Kuwait, including 360 mall, Al Kout and Salmiya, and register their BlackBerry PIN to receive a free donut and coffee for themselves and a friend. Offer is available every Wednesday for four weeks between 6pm and 10pm.

The long rumored “G-Drive” has been eluding us for a few years now but it is finally here. Google is going head-to-head with Dropbox with its Google Drive and here are some of the advantages of using Google’s solution:

• Paid plans are cheaper
• Offers more free space 5GB  (unless you have Dropbox referrals)
• Images and videos uploaded through Google+ do not count against your available space (restrictions apply)
• Document collaboration ala Google Docs
• Supports online viewing for "over 30 file types" including Photoshop, illustrator and HD Video (not sure how the support stacks up to Dropbox)
• Sync appears to be much faster than Dropbox
• Space also applies to other Google products: Gmail & Picasa
• Shared files give you a commenting and chat interface – which is actually more useful than it sounds
• If you happen to be grandfathered into a Google storage plan the prices are DIRT CHEAP.
• Improved search over Dropbox – including OCR recognition of PDFs, etc. This is really nice for eBooks.
• Files can be kept forever even if you stop paying. Stop paying and your files over the free storage limit will remain with read-only access as long as you want them. You could consider it pay once forever hosting.
• File-level app permissions. Apps don’t need access to your entire Dropbox, you can grant them access to a single file.

The service is still not available for everyone, it is slowly rolling out..

According to a Vietnamese site this is soon to be unveiled Samsung Galaxy S3 (GT-9300). that has a 4.6” 1184×720 screen, 1.4 Quad-Core CPU, 1GB of Ram, 8MP camera 16GB storage and a MicroSD slot.

There is a plastic casing around the device in the video to keep the final design a bit of a secret. The 2050mhA battery will come with NFC capability.

Bethesda (makers of games such as Skyrim, Fallout and Rage) took the wraps off their new game Dishonored, a new first person adventure game that looks like a mix of Bioshock and Assassin’s Creed.

This first video is a bit insane. A guy using his real first and middle name and a few staged people led people to believe he was a celebrity resulting in him having a security escort and shutting down stores for him in a matter of minutes.

This second video is almost the same, 2 British presenters go to Japan have a camera crew and a few staged fans result in a mass hysteria. With no one knowing who they are.

This third and final video is a bit different, as the guy looks like a well know celebrity and pranks the whole of Times Square as being Andy Samberg

I wonder if this is doable here in Kuwait? What am I talking about of course it is, people gather around a car crash here why not a  make believe celebrity?

Yesterday we went to try out the newly opened Smashburger in The Village in Abo AlHasani. It adds yet another burger place to an impressive burger joints here in Kuwait.

It is the same as the other top tier burger places where they serve fresh ingredients and bun. I was intrigued by the “Kuwait Burger” but after reading that it had Lebnah in it I decided to go with something else so I got the classic which was pretty good. I also liked the rosemary “Smash Fries”.

I still prefer Shake Shack and Elevation Burger over Smashburger, but it is battling with Fat Burger for the 3rd spot. Little Ruby’s has excellent burgers as well. I have a problem with its location though as its easily crowded and somewhat far. It is located right next to Upper Crust, another place I haven’t tried yet.

I’ve had these lens cups for a couple of years now and I have been using small one as pen holders as I hate the metallic innards of the mug. I really can’t remember where exactly I got them from but they are pretty wide spread at the moment and available at a number of online retailers now and easy to find. The quality isn’t that great as the as the lens/cup cover doesn’t stagy on for the black small cup which is irritating even though I don’t use the cover.

You can get those 2 cup from Photojojo even though it isn’t the place I got it from. The black 24-105mm lens cup is sold for almost 6.5KD and the white 70-200mm travel mug will cost you 8.5KD.

Being a gamer, I was thinking of getting the PS Vita ever since it was announced. But because of the underwhelming sales I thought I should hold out for a while anticipating a price cut just like what happened with the Nintendo 3DS. But I was caught of guard when I saw that XCITE were selling the 3G version for 105KD which was a very good price. The first thing you notice on any device these days is the screen. And the PS Vita’s 5″ 960×544 bright and crisp screen is just great.

The second analog stick is a godsend. People were asking for it ever since the release of the original PSP. Having it makes gaming much more natural especially if you are a console gamer since both XBOX and The Playstation both have dual analog sticks.

The console has just been released so the game library isn’t that big at the moment. You can play the games either via a physical game card or a digital download which is my favorite. The problem is the the PS Vita doesn’t come with any built-in memory so you would have to buy a memory card if you plan to download games, demos or even watch movies.

The battery is a problem with the device. During my gaming sessions I managed to get 3 hours max from a fully charge battery, that was with full brightness, wifi on and no sim card installed.

All in all I would say that the PS Vita is a pretty capable device that would be better if there was a bigger game selection but I’m sure that will be coming along on the near future.

Good to see Trezeguet still could produce some beautiful football. I also think that Cristiano Ronaldo’s free kick against APOEL in the Champions League should have made the list.

The Red Velvet is by far my favorite cake, so how can you make it better? By removing the red and putting my favorite color on there, blue.

Royal Blue Velvet Cake Recipe

INGREDIENTS:

Cake
1 box Betty Crocker® SuperMoist® white cake mix
1 1/4 cups buttermilk
1/3 cup vegetable oil
3 eggs
1 tablespoon unsweetened baking cocoa
2 teaspoons royal blue paste food color
1 toothpickful violet paste food color

Frosting
1 jar (7 oz) marshmallow creme
1 cup butter or margarine, softened
2 1/2 cups powdered sugar
1/8 teaspoon salt

DIRECTIONS:

1. Heat oven to 325°F. Grease bottom and sides of three 8-inch round cake pans with shortening and lightly flour, or spray with baking spray with flour.

2. In large bowl, beat all cake ingredients with electric mixer on low speed about 30 seconds or until moistened. Beat on medium speed 2 minutes, scraping bowl occasionally.

3. Divide batter evenly among pans. Bake 23 to 28 minutes or until top springs back when lightly touched in center. Cool 15 minutes. Remove from pans; cool completely.

4. In large microwavable bowl, microwave marshmallow creme uncovered on High 15 to 20 seconds to soften. Add butter. Beat with electric mixer on medium speed until smooth. Beat in powdered sugar and salt until smooth.

5. If necessary, trim rounded tops of two cake layers to flatten before assembling. Place 1 cake layer, top side down, on serving plate; spread with about 1/3 cup frosting. Top with second layer, top side down; spread with about 1/3 cup frosting. Top with untrimmed cake layer, top side up. Frost side and top of cake with remaining frosting.

With games like Battlefield 3 and Modern Warfare 3 hailed as the best online multiplayer experience you can have if you are a FPS guy. But what about old school gamers? How about Mario multiplayer but with a twist?

I posted about Mari0 (that’s with a 0 not an O) about six months ago [here] when it was a work in progress. It got released a few weeks back with some few elements, namely multiplayer.

I really encourage trying out the game. Its available Windows, Mac and Linux.

Kazakhstan’s shooting team has been left stunned after a comedy national anthem from the film Borat was played at a medal ceremony at championships in Kuwait instead of the real one.

I don’t know whether to die of laughter or feel ashamed. This is a catastrophe, I have no idea how can you mix those two up unless you were told to Google “Kazakhstan National Anthem” and he mistakenly selected the second video. But brings another question, shouldn’t they have a library of all the national anthems and flags since they are hosting an international event?

The Kazakhstani team has asked for an apology and they really deserve one. The organizers also got the Serbian national anthem wrong according to the Kazakhstani coach.

When you are on the pedestal and the song says: “Kazakhstan’s prostitutes cleanest in the region” I would take offence.

The guy stuck his GoPro to a  customized backpack made for dogs. It gives a first umm dogs view of the trip they took in LA. Just throw in a couple of guns and the next installment of Call of Duty is set.

I use Dropbox constantly but I rarely put large or a lot of files in it due to its limited free space. There are payable options but I’m waiting for the long rumored Google G-Drive to make an appearance.

Anyway, the steps are simple:

• Uninstall Dropbox from your Android device.
• Download this special version of Dropbox [here].
• Install it and login.
• Wait for the confirmation email (took me a couple of hours).
• Uninstall Dropbox and re-download the latest version from Google Play.

I have no idea what was the driver of the white car thinking. Its obviously a freeway and no access to the other side. So I cant explain his actions other than that he was unconscious/incapacitated.

According to a YouTube comment, the 3 passengers in the car the got in the wrong lane were killed including the 72 year old driver, the driver of the truck is critically injured and the couple in the car that had the camera sustained minor injuries.
