CoStar Group recently reported its First-Quarter 2012 Office Review & Outlook and office space absorption continues to hold steady at 11 million square feet. Although it is not as strong as it is has been in previous years, the rebound of office-using jobs has spread to the small business sector, which had the most leases in the first quarter. The positive absorption, along with the small supply of office spaces available suggest that rent growth will continue for the next few years in U.S. markets.

A few of the other factors that will help set the stage for continued rent growth over the next few years include: the economy converting temporary jobs to full-time positions as at quick rate, and employees working more hours on average.
