1. Free Express Pass after 4 pm

After 4 pm, every day, you’ll get a free Express Pass that you can use once per participating attraction.

You can currently use Universal Express at 29 attractions including Revenge of the Mummy, the Jurassic World VelociCoaster, Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey, Despicable Me Minion Mayhem, Harry Potter and the Escape from Gringotts, and the Hogwarts Express, just to name a few.

This alone can save you over $100 on every visit during a busy day.

I know that 4 pm may seem pretty late, but you’d be surprised at how much you could get done between both Universal Studios Florida and Islands of Adventure before the parks close.

Plus, it being central Florida, going to the parks in the evening is so much nicer during those blazing summer months.

2. Free valet parking

If luck isn’t on your side, the walk from the parking garages to security can get pretty annoying.

But thankfully, with a Premier Pass, you’ll receive free valet parking every time you visit the park, except during special events like Halloween Horror Nights or Mardi Gras.

Valet parking at Universal Orlando is so close and convenient, plus the line at the valet security check is almost non-existent.

I couldn’t honestly care less about valet parking, but the fact that it’s so close to the entrance of Universal CityWalk, makes this such a great, convenient benefit.

3. Free ticket to Halloween Horror Nights

With a Premier Pass, you also get one free ticket to Halloween Horror Nights, during select days.

A ticket to HHN alone costs anywhere from $79.99 to $119.99.

I’m not a huge horror fan, but HHN is by far the best specially ticketed event I’ve ever been to at any theme park, including Disney World.

4. 15% discount on select food and merchandise

Lastly, as a Premier Passholder, you’ll receive 15% off select food and merchandise across all three parks and CityWalk.

The Preferred Pass, which is one tier below, only offers a 10% discount.

This 5% difference may not seem like much, but it does add up over time, especially with how expensive Universal Studios have been getting.

There are so many other great benefits and discounts that you can take advantage with as a Universal Orlando Premier Annual Passholder, but I’ll go into more detail about that in this in-depth article.

How much does the Universal Premier Pass cost?

The 2-Park Premier Pass costs $904.99 or $780.99 if you’re a Florida resident.

If you pay with FlexPay, your down payment will be $481.91 with 11 monthly payments of $43.81.

And if you’re a Florida resident that pays with FlexPay, your down payment will be $420.69 with 11 monthly payments of $38.25.

Universal Premier vs Preferred Annual Passes

The Premier and Preferred Annual Passes are the two highest and most expensive passed that don’t have any blockout dates.

The best way to compare these two passes are by focusing on their benefits and their perceived monetary values.

Let’s quickly break down the costs:

A 2-Park Premier Pass costs $904.99 or $780.99 if you’re a Florida resident.

A 2-Park Preferred Pass costs $629.99 or $529.99 if you’re a Florida resident.

Express Pass, which is free for Premier Passholders at 4 pm, costs $89.99 to $349.99.

Valet parking, a key complimentary benefit of the Premier Pass, costs $30 to $75.

Halloween Horror Night, another key complimentary benefit of the Premier Pass, costs $79.99 to $119.99.

Just with these three additional benefits that the Preferred Pass doesn’t offer but Premier does, you can get your money’s worth after 3 park visits and one visit to Halloween Horror Nights.

To me, the Premier Pass is always the way to go if you don’t mind shelling out an extra $170 per person.

Then again, if you’re someone who doesn’t care about Express Pass, valet parking, or HHN, then it’s best to just save your money.

Regardless, you can’t go wrong with either pass, especially since they both do not have blockout dates and include free parking.

The Universal Orlando Premier Annual Pass is the best option for anyone who prioritize time over money.

If you believe that free valet parking (including it’s close proximity to the park entrances) as well as the complimentary Express Pass after 4 pm are great benefits that are worth the extra $170 per person per year, then everything else that you receive from this pass will feel like a sweet bonus.

I don’t think I’ll ever downgrade my Premier Pass because at the end of the day, it has spoiled me and my family more than I’ve ever expected.

How much does it costs to go to Universal Orlando?

Lets break down you vacation cost by category. As an example, I will use 2 adults and 2 children above the age of 3 to factor in the total costs.

Total Cost (to save you time)

Here’s how much a 3-night vacation to Universal Orlando Resort will cost on average for a family of 4 (2 adults and 2 children):

• Budget Vacation: a 3-night trip for a family of four staying at the Endless Summer Dockside with 3-day 3-park tickets, including food and transportation will cost $2,481 on average.
• Luxury Vacation: a 3-night trip for a family of four staying at Loews Portofino Bay Bay Hotel with 3-Day 3-Park to Park tickets, including food and transportation will cost $3,732 on average.

How much are park tickets at Universal Orlando?

Regardless of the number of days or the number of parks you choose to visit, Universal Orlando uses date-based pricing meaning tickets will more expensive or cheaper on certain days throughout the year.

That said, here is the complete list of park ticket prices for Universal Studios, Islands of Adventure, and Volcano Bay:

(Adults are ages 10+ and children are ages 3-9. Children under the age of 3 are free.)

Universal Studios Florida & Islands of Adventure

The park ticket prices for both of these parks are identical. The only time the prices will vary is if you add Express Pass.

2-Parks 1-Day tickets start at $164 per adult and $159 per child. This ticket’s price ranges from $109 to $159.

One-Park One-Day tickets start at $109 per adult and $104 per child. With this ticket option, both Universal Studios and Island of Adventure are the same price.

2-Park 2-Day Tickets (Park to Park) start at $276 per adult and $266 per child. This tickets price ranges from $276 to $370.

Volcano Bay

A 1-Day Volcano Bay tickets starts at $80 per adult and $75 per child.

These water park tickets can range from $80 to $90.

There is also a 3-Park 3-Day ticket that lets you visit Universal Studios , Islands of Adventure, and Volcano Bay in a three day period. You can opt for the one park per day option which starts at $242 per adult or you can do the park to park to option which starts at $342 per adult.

How much does Express Pass cost?

Express Pass is a ticket add-on that allows you to skip regular lines at participating rides at Universal Studios, Islands of Adventure, and Volcano Bay.

There are currently three Express Pass options:

1. Universal Express – skip the regular lines one time per participating ride
2. Universal Express Unlimited – skip the regular lines an unlimited number of times at participating rides
3. Volcano Bay Express – skip the Virtual Line one time per participating ride at the water park

Just like park tickets, Express Pass also uses date-based pricing:

• Universal Express = $89.99 to $349.99
• Universal Express Unlimited = $99.99 to $379.99
• Volcano Bay Express = $19.99 to $149.99

If you plan on adding Express Pass for a certain park, Islands of Adventure is $5 more expensive than Islands of Adventure.

How much are hotels at Universal Orlando?

There are 8 official Universal Orlando hotels and resorts, all of which have their own perks, benefits, and price ranges.

There are four categories of hotels:

1. Premier Hotel
2. Preferred Hotel

4. Value Hotel

Here’s a breakdown of costs and amenities for each hotel category. Just note that night room rates are only averages, and can fluctuate greatly depending on the time of year, holidays, and season.

Value Hotels

There are currently two Value hotels – Universal’s Endless Summer Resort Dockside and Universal’s Endless Summer Resort Surfside.

• Universal’s Endless Summer Resort Dockside costs $119 per night on average
• Universal’s Endless Summer Resort Surfside costs $119 per night on average

Prime Value Hotels

There are currently two Prime Value resorts – Universal’s Aventura Hotel and Universal’s Cabana Bay Beach Resort.

• Universal’s Aventura Hotel costs $174 per night on average
• Universal’s Cabana Bay Beach Resort costs $174 per night on average

Preferred Hotels

There is only one Preferred hotel – Loews Sapphire Falls Resort.

• Loews Sapphire Falls Resort costs $262 per night on average.

Premier Hotels

There are three Premier hotels – Loews Portofino Bay Hotel, Loews Royal Pacific Resort, and the Hard Rock Hotel.

When you stay at a Premier Hotel, you’ll receive Universal Express Unlimited for every guest per day, which is a $129+ daily value. Premier Hotels also are the only properties with Club Level Rooms.

• Loews Portofino Bay Hotel costs $484 per night on average
• Loews Royal Pacific Resort costs $406 per night on average
• Hard Rock Hotel costs $453 per night on average

Regardless of what hotel you book, you’ll receive Early Park Admission as well as free transportation via shuttle or water taxi (if applicable).

How much is the food at Universal Orlando?

Food is always an important part of any vacation.

At Universal Orlando, you’ll quickly realize how inflated dining prices are, as expected at any touristy spot.

Although everyone’s eating preferences vary, I estimated how much you should budget per person per meal.

As of this writing, you should plan to budget around:

• $25 per adult per meal
• $18 per child per meal

This might be on the higher side, but theme park food prices aren’t getting any cheaper and will continue to rise unfortunately, as recently seen at WDW.

Universal Orlando has put a hold on their dining plan as of 2021, so unfortunately, I won’t be able to go into any further details regarding that. Disney World has just unveiled that they are bringing there’s back on January 9th, 2024 and generally, Universal likes to follow suit. But we shall see, especially since Universal has deleted all of their information about the Universal Dining Plan.

How much does it cost to go to Halloween Horror Nights?

The insanely popular Halloween Horror Nights start in early September and run through late October.

Tickets for Halloween Horror Nights at Universal Studios Orlando start at $109.99 per adult. Tickets are the cheapest during the weekday and the most expensive on weekends.

HHN prices get progressively more expensive the closer you get to Halloween. These prices usually range between $109.99 to $219.99 per person.

There is also a Halloween Horror Night Express Pass that lets you skip the line at every haunted house. Prices for this add-on vary between $109.99 and $219.99 per person on top of your HHN ticket.

If the goal is to save money, then your best bet is to go early during the first week and on a Wednesday.

How much does the Wizarding World of Harry Potter cost?

Access to the Wizarding World of Harry Potter is included with the price of admission for any Universal Studios or Islands of Adventure ticket.

However, in order to visit both Hogsmeade and Diagon Alley, you will need a ticket that gives you access to both Universal Studios and Islands of Adventure.

Once inside the Wizarding World of Harry Potter, you will not need to spend any additional money for access to the rides and attractions.

One thing to note is that in order to ride the Hogwarts Express between Hogsmeade Station and King’s Cross Station, you will need a Park-to-Park ticket.

Here’s how much a Park-to-Park ticket costs:

• 2 Park 1 Day Ticket starts at $164 per adult (ages 10+) and $159 per children ages (3-9)
• 2 Park 2 Day Ticket starts at $275.99 per adult and $266 per child.

How much is transportation to get to Universal Orlando?

By far the best way to get to Universal Orlando is using Uber or Lyft, especially if you’re coming from the airport or Disney.

On average, a Lyft from Orlando International Airport to Universal Orlando Resort will cost between $34 and $39 each way.

From Walt Disney World, a Lyft will cost around $17 to $27 to get to Universal Orlando.

Parking Costs

If you decide to drive yourself, these are the daily parking rates per vehicle (pricing is seasonal):

• Prime Parking = $50 – $60
• Prime Upgrade = $20 – $30
• RV/Bus = $40
• Regular = $30

Here are the Valet parking costs:

• 2 hours = $30
• Over 2 hours = $40 – $75
• Over 2 hours on HHN = $75
• Preferred Annual Passholders = 50% off valet
• Premier Annual Passholder = free (excluding special event nights)

You can get free self-parking after 6 pm on non-Halloween Horror Nights and free self-parking after 12 pm on Halloween Horror Nights.

You can also get free regular parking for matinee movie showings between 11 am to 6 pm with purchases of two or more tickets at Universal Cinemark. To get free parking, you’ll have to first pay for regular parking then you’ll be reimbursed upon presentation of parking receipt.

How much does it cost to go to Universal Orlando for one day?

To visit Universal Orlando for one day, it will cost $174 per adult and $159 per child, on average.

In order to full get the most out of your day at Universal Orlando Resort, you will need to get a 2-Park 1-Day ticket that gives you access to both Universal Studios Florida and Islands of Adventure.

If time is of the essence, then I also recommend that you get the 2-Park Express Pass which will cost around $144.99 on average. This way you can easily knock out all of the important rides (with some exceptions) without waiting in line for too long.

This will bring your total cost for a one day visit to Universal Studios to $366.36 per person.

Florida Resident Discounts

Universal Orlando is so good to Florida residents.

They offer both park ticket and resort discounts that every Florida resident can take advantage of. Not to mention, they always have some sort of ongoing Florida resident promotion or deal that will cut down the costs of your visit dramatically.

And as a baseline, I’ll use a family of 4 (two adults and two kids) as an example throughout.

Total Cost (to save you some time)

This is how much a trip for a family of four should cost on average to SeaWorld Orlando with park tickets, food, transportation, and add-ons.

Single Day Trip: A single day trip to SeaWorld Orlando for a family of four will cost around $690 which includes tickets, parking, and one meal with snack.

Two Parks, One Night Trip: A one-night trip to both SeaWorlds Orlando and Aquatica for a family of four will cost around $1,238 for 2-park pickets, one meal at the park, and one night at an Official Partner Hotel (such as the Renaissance Orlando at SeaWorld).

Staying at Disney but visiting SeaWorld: A day trip to SeaWorld Orlando from Disney World property for a family of four will cost around $697 which includes tickets, roundtrip Uber/Lyft, food, and one meal.

Let’s break down your total vacation costs by category. For this example, I will use 2 adults and 2 children above the age of 3 to factor in the costs for park tickets, food, add-ons, transportation, and even hotels.

Park Tickets

SeaWorld Orlando is always running some sort of ticket promotion, so these ticket prices may be inaccurate at the time of this writing. That said, I’ll use the standard gate prices to factor in the total costs.

SeaWorld also uses dynamic pricing on some tickets meaning the prices will fluctuate based on the time of the year or even day of the week.

Here’s how much tickets cost for SeaWorld Orlando (for ages 3+):

Single-Day Ticket

With this ticket, you must select the day that you want to visit.

Discounts: ALWAYS check SeaWorld Orlando’s website to see if they are running any deals or promotions. For example, they just recently had a spring sale where tickets only cost $66 as compared to $134.99. Insanity.

Annual Passes are also available. Honestly, the only way purchasing an annual pass is worth the cost is if you plan on visiting SeaWorld Orlando for at least 2 days throughout the next 12 months.

The cheapest annual pass with unlimited admission, no blockout dates, and free parking is her Silver Annual Pass which costs $249 per person. It’s actually quite a bargain, especially since it comes with free parking.

SeaWorld Add-Ons and Upgrades

SeaWorld offers a few upgrades and add-ons to help enhance your visit.

Here are the most popular options currently available:

• Reserved Seating and Quick Queue Unlimited: Reserved seats at their shows and presentations, plus unlimited front of the line access to their most popular rides. Prices start at $19.99 per person and can reach as high as $99.99.
• All-Day Dining Deal: Eat and drink as often as you like once every 90 minutes at participating restaurants. You’ll receive one beverage, one entree, and one side or dessert. This add-on costs $49.99 for adults and $24.99 for children ages 3-9.
• Parking: If your pass or ticket doesn’t include parking, you can purchase pre-paid parking online. Prices starts at $30 for general parking. For a complete breakdown, you can check out our parking guide.
• Dolphin Encounter: A 15-minute training session where you get to touch a dolphin. Prices start at $29 and reach as high as $69 per person.
• Ultimate VIP Tour: A guided, private group tour that incudes front of the line access to rides, VIP seating at shows, animal interactions, finds dining and more. Prices start at $600 and can go as high as $700. A minimum of 2 guests is required.

If time is important to you, and you’re going during a weekend or a busy time of the year, then purchasing the Quick Queue Unlimited is a must. Yes, it will be expensive, but you’ll for sure be able to get the most out of your precious time and money.

Shows

All of the shows and animal encounters are free at SeaWorld.

The three shows included with your ticket are:

1. Dolphin Adventures
2. Orca Encounter
3. Sea Lion and Otter Spotlight

You can however add an upgrade to your ticket to get priority viewing/seating for the day for a nominal fee that starts at $14.99 per person per day.

Rides and Attractions

Most of the rides, attractions, and roller coasters are included with the price of admission to SeaWorld.

The only attractions that require an additional fee are the Flamingo Paddle Boats and the Sky Tower.

The attractions at Sesame Street Land are also free. This is a great area to find attractions with zero or low height requirements.

Food and Drinks

Food and drinks at SeaWorld are expensive. Even more expensive than Disney World.

On average, you’ll need to budget around $22 per person per meal and $8 per person for snacks.

You honestly won’t need to eat more than one meal here so one is always sufficient.

Unfortunately, I’m not a huge fan of the food options at SeaWorld so you shouldn’t expect to be blown away.

Parking

SeaWorld Parking prices varies based on the time of the year and day of the week.

There are three parking options at SeaWorld Orlando:

1. General Parking = $30 – $35 per vehicle
2. Preferred Parking = $45 – $55 per vehicle
3. VIP Parking = $60 – $70 per vehicle

Guest with disabilities can park in designated parking spots (the same as Preferred) for $25 per vehicle. There is also courtesy wheelchairs that guests can use from the parking lot to the wheelchair rental location.

Transportation

If you don’t have a car or won’t be parking it at SeaWorld, there are two great options to get to and from the park:

1. Uber or Lyft
2. Taxi

I could care less about taxis so I won’t talk about those because ride-sharing is superior.

The cost using Uber or Lyft to get to and from SeaWorld Orlando varies depending on where you’re coming from.

From Universal Orlando, you can expect to pay around $17 to $19 each way.

From Disney World property, you can expect to pay around $17 to $26 each way.

And from the heart of International Drive (I-Drive) near Top Golf and ICON Park, you can expect to pay around $9 to $12 each way.

Hotels and Resorts

Correct me if I’m wrong, but I personally feel that no one really takes a vacation to Orlando strictly to visit SeaWorld. With its close proximity to Universal Orlando and Disney World, I believe that if you are visiting SeaWorld, you are probably staying near Disney or Universal.

That said, for the rare occurrence that you actually might only be visiting SeaWorld, here’s how much a room near the park will typically cost you.

Plus, by staying at an Official Hotel Partner, you’ll receive benefits that you won’t receive if you stay elsewhere:

• Complimentary access to SeaWorld Rescue Tour
• Shuttle to SeaWorld, Aquatica, and Discovery Cove
• 10% off dining at SeaWorld, Aquatica, and Discovery Cove

Unlike all the hacks and strategies that you can use to save money at Disney World, when it comes to SeaWorld Orlando, it can get a little tricky.

The number one advice I can give you is to always check for any ongoing deals and promotions on SeaWorld Orlando’s official website. There you’ll find all of their current deals that can save you a ton of money.

For example, for the spring of 2023 after Easter, they offered a spectacular sale where tickets only cost $66 per person as compared to $134.99. Insane!

SeaWorld Orlando also offers complimentary access to both Florida-based teachers (K-12) as well as active duty and veteran military personnel and as many as three dependents.

Florida teachers can receive unlimited admission for a certain amount of time in the year as long as they verify their employment through ID.me

Military veterans and active duty personnel along with three dependents can also receive a free one-day ticket as long as they verify their status on GOVX ID. You can also receive discounted admission to Discovery Cove too.

Final Thoughts

The most recent addition to the Universal Express lineup was the Jurassic World Roller Coaster in early 2023. This roller coaster opened in June of 2021 and officially became eligible for Express Pass on February 20, 2023.

Unfortunately, there is still no word if Hagrid’s Magic Creatures Motorbike Adventure will participate in Universal Express Passes even though it opened in June 2019.

These rides are, Kala & Tai Nui Serpentine Body Slides, Ko’okiri Body Plunge, Ohno of Ohyah & Ohno Drop Slides, and Ohyah of Ohyah & Ohno Drop Slides.

So if you are looking to purchase an Express Pass, just note that you will have access to 41 out of the 43 rides and attraction at both Universal Studios Florida and Universal’s Islands of Adventure.

And as long as you get the Volcano Bay Express PLUS Pass, you’ll have access to all rides and attractions at the water park.

According to Thrill Data, the best time of day for the shortest wait times are:

• Morning: 9:00 am
• Early Afternoon: 12:55 pm
• Late Afternoon: 6:55 pm

As long as you avoid Saturday and even Sunday, your wait times will be significantly shorter, thus eliminating the need (or want) of a Single Rider Line.
