Marilyn Monroe Collection for MAC

We can’t believe it’s been fifty years since the death of screen goddess and icon Marilyn Monroe.

To commemorate the most glamorous woman of all time Mac are releasing a collection inspired by the blonde bombshell.

The MAC Marilyn Monroe Collection consists of lip, eye and face products dedicated to achieving that red-lipped, perfect-eyed glamour she trademarked.

As you’d expect, the 28-piece collection is fit to bursting with red lipstick, false lashes and skin-perfecting bases. Oh, and the packaging is fit for a movie star, featuring black and white images of the late Marilyn and her signature in striking scarlet – cult collector’s items in the making, for sure.

Eye colours in the range include How To Marry, Preferred Blonde, Showgirl and Silver Screen. A brow finisher, false lashes, mascara, kohl and a brow marker complete the eye range.

Lip products are unsurprisingly geared towards gorgeous reds; Scarlet Ibis, Deeply Adored and Love Goddess range from scarlet to berry hues. Frosted Dazzleglass and lip pencils finish off the lip range.

For the face, Mac has spoilt us with a peach highlighter and two powder blushes: a neutral matte pink and pale satin coral.

Four nail lacquers and false lashes finish off the collection to Marilyn perfection.

She’s fashion’s most loved new face as well as being rock’s K-Middy (minus the compromising photos) so we weren’t surprised when Just Cavalli announced that Georgia May Jagger would be fronting the forthcoming campaign for its new fragrance.

The fragrance will launch next February, joining the likes of sister fragrance Roberto Cavalli Eau De Parfum as part of the brand’s empire.

And our Georgia is no stranger to fronting beauty campaigns; as the face of Rimmel London alongside none other than Kate Moss she’s perfected the art of the ultimate pout and put gap-toothed beauties firmly on the fashion radar.

Georgia said of the news, “Roberto Cavalli is a great designer. The Just Cavalli brand is very sexy, young and cool. Each collection is very contemporary and colourful; it is clearly for the younger generation who wants to have a trendy look. It is the first fragrance that I have ever done so it is a huge honour”.

If we didn’t love Kate Moss so much we’d have to hate her; as the face of Mango she has access to the chicest clothes on the high street, aswell as having THAT face, THAT hair and THAT bod – that gives her some SERIOUS bragging rights. Especially as she’s at the grand old age of 38 – sob.

And now we’ve got even more reason to be enamored with our favourite super as she showcases Mango’s A/W collection in this amaze new ad campaign, shot by photographers Inez van Lamsweerde & Vinoodh Matadin earlier this year in London.

Kate rocks a whole host of looks, from easy daywear to chic office-to-bar-ensembles and glam-luxe get ups.

For the upcoming season Mango are treating us with denim, tailored brights, leather, Breton stripes and staple basics – we want it ALL!

Winter may be looming but here at Café La Moda we’re dreaming of lands far, far away as Georgina Chapman transports us through an Indian fairytale of vibrant colour, jewels and opulence for s/s ‘13.

As Cara Delevingne et al took to the runway the FRow was dazzled with a rich colour palette of burnt orange, red, fuchsia, gold and sparkling white. Embellished sheers took center stage on draped Sari-esque gowns and ruffled hems, and opulent tunic and leggings had more than a hint of the Orient about them.

Cap sleeves, drapes, ruffles, peplums and glistening fringing provided focus points as embroidery and gems slinked over curves to highlight the waist and hips. Snaking brocade on bodices and skirts delivered decadence as only Marchesa can.

Signature swathes of fabric and floor-sweeping hems were omnipresent, but clean, close-fitting silhouettes and jewel-encrusted leggings under gowns provided a curveball. Chapman? She’s no one-trick princess.

Though this is one look, with it’s decadent tones and fanciful detailing, we might begrudgingly leave to the red carpet, there’s one element of the collection we’ll be positively embracing – embellished flat pumps. You heard it here first!

	Eau de Nicki

She rapped about her foray into the beauty world on her Make Me Proud collaboration with Drake, “MAC, OPI and the fragrance too”, and now hip hop’s most colourful diva has released photos of her brand spanking new perfume, Pink Friday (but of course!)

The bottle is an homage to the First Lady of rap; think Jean Paul Gaultier’s Classique bottle with a gold-plated-pink-haired-twist.

And what does the pink creation smell like? Well, Nicki’s kept schtum about the fragrance’s ingredients, hinting only at the fact that it smells like ‘angels playing. Hmmm, so far so mysterious!

With an ad campaign and bottle featuring a big helping of pink, glitter, gold and, er, more pink we’re envisaging a sweet, candy-shop inspired scent that’ll turn heads.

The fragrance will launch in the US in October.

	All hail queen Nick!

Check out the bottle and ad campaign below:

With an ad campaign and bottle featuring a big helping of pink, glitter, gold and, er, more pink we’re envisaging a sweet, candy-shop inspired scent that’ll turn heads.

The fragrance will launch in the US in October.

	All hail queen Nick!

Yup, Online Fashion Week is back!

The concept launched last December and was a huge hit with the fash pack; in partnership with Amazon, Vogue launched the initiative to offer huge discounts, prizes gifts and special events online during the festive month with all proceeds going to a charity of your choice.

Last year, Mulberry gave away two limited edition Bayswater bags during the five-day fashion bonanza, whilst H&M offered one lucky stylista the opportunity to shop the Marni collection before its launch.

From ASOS to Jigsaw and everyone in-between, high-street and designer brands will be joining in the revelry just in time for Christmas.

This year the event’s official charity partner will be Oxfam’s Girls Education Project, which aims to help kids in rural West Africa receive a basic education.

Fashion with a conscience? We love!

London Fashion Week: Ji Cheng

	BY LISA JIANG

Ji Cheng captivated us at London Fashion Week for the second time this season, showcasing her spring/summer 2013 collection at Freemasons’ Hall with Vauxhall Fashion Scout. The invitation was a work of art in itself – it came through the post wrapped around a bag of jasmine tea (which was instantly appropriated by my mum), a fitting nod to the inspiration behind her new Teaism collection.

“Tea is considered an art form in China,” explains the designer, “I hope this beauty translates into my newest collection.” Ji Cheng drew influences from traditional Chinese culture to bring together the East and West in a celebration of “one of the most consumed practices in the world”.

There was a hush of anticipation as the first model floated onto the tea-scattered catwalk to a haunting soundtrack by Tadi Yan. Ji Cheng is one of China’s leading designers and a long-standing favourite at Shanghai Fashion Week; you could definitely see why.

The Teaism collection was a delicate blend of Oriental and European design aesthetics – the raw poise of Chinese tea farmers brought right up to date with asymmetric cuts, pleated panels and sharp tailoring. The designer went for a natural look in a palette of olive, white, black and taupe, sending her models down the runway in organic cotton and silk. Ji Cheng combined demure mandarin collars with deep, plunging backs for a fresh new twist on seduction. Each look was finished off with a handmade bamboo hat; tipped at an impish angle, they added just the right amount of insouciance to the collection.

Highlights from the show included a white shift dress with ankle-grazing sheer split sleeves and an exquisitely crafted peplum blouse with the tiniest pin-tucks imaginable. Ji Cheng walked the fine line between costume and couture with absolute precision, creating a very wearable collection for both day and evening.

Say hellooo to your new best friends: Killer Colours lacquers.

These beauties are part of a new collection of totally-of-the-moment shades for decorating your digits - think catwalk-worthy nudes, burgundy, blue and lilac that’ll take you right through winter and into spring and summer.

And if the gorgeous hues weren’t enough to whet your appetite just take a look at the rollcall of cool-as-a-cucumber names they’ve been given: Twisted Silk, Firewater, Belladona, Gunmetal and Quicksand.

The varnishes deliver super-glossy, highly-pigmented colour which contains UV absorbers for extra durability and staying power. Plus, a blend of four plasticisers = no colour chipping, cracking or flaking. AND they’re resistant to water and detergent, which means that colour is going NOWHERE.

We haven’t had leg envy this severe since Caroline Flack’s Marilyn Monroe moment way back in 2010 – check out the pins on Rihanna!

Our favourite Bajan princess stepped out for dinner in Beverley Hills this week donned head-to-toe in the look she does best: indie-sport-luxe (yes, that IS an actual thing, ok?). The look is a slightly more conservative option after the controversial ‘how to roll a joint’ tee she sported the previous evening.

She teamed a basic grey marl jersey tee (ladies, it’s a wardrobe staple) with frayed denim cut-offs and a super on-trend camo-fabulous jacket. She’s accessorized to perfection with lots of statement gold bling and a Gucci tote complete with American Flag logo.

Her red shoes, toenails and lippie add a pop of colour and we really can’t get enough of her understated nude fingernails.

Here’s how to re-create the look on the hight-street:

It feels like years ago that we told you that the delectable Rosie Huntington-Whiteley was launching her very own lingerie line for high-street favourite M&S. Well, we’ve finally had a look and you’re going to love it.

Rosie for Autograph consists of 33 pieces incorporating lust-worthy couture embroidery and luxury fabrics such as French lace and luxury silks, but without the hefty price tag – prices start at £12.50 and peak at a reasonable £65 for a kimono.

"To find inspiration for the collection, I trawled my favourite vintage shops and flea markets in London, LA and Paris, where I found a treasure trove of gorgeous clothes and ornate pieces of jewelry," said Rosie on her foray into the design world. "I was particularly drawn to the opulent elegance of the Twenties era, which really shows in my designs—from the sumptuous silks I chose to the intricate deco-inspired embroidery detailing."

The range hits M&S stores on August 30th. Check out a preview right here:
