If you are looking to support one of the oldest numismatic institutions in the United States, and get a tax break at the same time, consider a donation to the American Numismatic Society (ANS). Thanks to a generous Society trustee, any donation made now through the end of the year, up to $10,000, will be matched. It doubles your donation!

To donate, follow this link. It will take you to the Society’s PayPal page, where you can make your donation directly to them. Because the Society is a Section 501(c)(3) organization, your donation is tax-deductible.

On a personal note, I have been a member of the ANS since 2018, and it is one of the most essential numismatic relationships for me. The weekly Long Table discussions and other resources make it a go-to place for research and information. Click here if you would like more information on joining the ANS.

Founded in 1858, The American Numismatic Society is dedicated to the study and appreciation of numismatics and has assembled a permanent collection of more than 800,000 coins, monetary objects, medals, and other related items dating back to 2000 BCE. The specialized library contains approximately 100,000 books, documents, and artifacts that are among the finest of such resources. Together, they comprise one of the most extensive numismatic holdings in the world. The Society is also a global leader and innovator in the development of digital numismatic resources and is one of the largest publishers of scholarly numismatic research, enjoyed by its members, fellows, and the public at large.

The American Numismatic Society, organized in 1858 and incorporated in 1865 in New York State, operates as a research museum under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code and is recognized as a publicly supported organization under section 170(b)(1)(A)(vi) as confirmed on November 1, 1970.

The United States Mint has released its weekly Numismatic Product Sales report for December 15, 2025. The report covers the Mint’s numismatic product sales, including commemorative coins and annual sets, over the past seven days. It is separate from the bullion sales report. The Mint reported net sales of 45,843 numismatic products as of December 15, 2025, representing a significant increase from the previous week.

Unsurprisingly, the top-selling product for the United States Mint on the December 15, 2025, report was its latest release: The 2025 Morgan and Peace Dollar Reverse Proof 2-Coin Set. The set had reported sales of 26,254 in the last week, accounting for nearly 58% of the Mint’s total reported sales for the week. It was followed, distantly, by the 2025-W American Eagle Silver Proof and the 2025-S Morgan Dollar Proof.

Below is a table of the top ten selling products for the United States Mint last week.

The United States Mint has released the images of the upcoming Emerging Liberty Dime. Set for release next year as part of the United States’ Semiquincentennial, the stunning dime features a new interpretation of Liberty. It is the first change in design of the Dime since the Roosevelt Dime was released on January 30, 1946.

The obverse design features a determined Liberty as the winds of revolution waft through her hair. With steadfast resolve, she faces the tyranny of the British monarchy. Her liberty cap bears stars and stripes, at once a symbol of our burgeoning Nation and a reference to early American coinage. Inscriptions are “LIBERTY,” “IN GOD WE TRUST,” and “1776 ~ 2026.”

The Obverse of the new Dime was designed by Esao Andrews and sculpted by Eric David Custer.

The event will be heald in the Savannah convention center February 26-28, 2026.

For the first time ever, the National Money Show® is coming to Savannah, Georgia. From February 26-28, 2026, join collectors, dealers, and money enthusiasts from across the country to gather in this historic coastal city. Hosted by the American Numismatic Association (ANA), the show brings hundreds of dealers ready to buy and sell rare coins, vintage paper money, tokens, medals, gold, silver, and more. Plus, many experts will offer free, informal evaluations of the public’s old coins and currency.

Held in Hall A of the Savannah Convention Center at 1 International Dr., Savannah, GA 31421, show admission is $10 for the public and free for ANA members and children under 12. Admission is free for everyone on Saturday, February 28. ANA members are encouraged to register for the show in advance to skip registration lines at the show entrance. Show registration is available at nationalmoneyshow.vfairs.com/en/registration-form.

One of the world’s most famous rare coins, a 1913-dated Liberty Head nickel, will be among the rarities on display at the show. The face value is only five cents, but this legendary nickel made under mysterious circumstances at the Philadelphia Mint over a century ago is now insured for $3 million. Only five examples are known, and one is at the Smithsonian in Washington, DC. Visitors can also see examples of rare gold coins struck at the Dahlonega, Georgia branch Mint in the mid-1800s.

Free Money Talks lectures will be presented throughout the event by well-known professionals in the field of coin collecting. These lectures provide collectors a forum in which to share their views and research with the public. The 30- to 45-minute programs accommodate questions from the audience.
On Friday and Saturday, families can visit Ernie’s Treasure Treehouse, an educational area to play games and earn Hoot Loot to spend on prizes of their choice. Games include Treasure Trivia, the cash cube, plinko, cornhole, coin toss, designing coins, and more.

Additional information about the show can be found online at NationalMoneyShow.com.

The American Numismatic Association is a congressionally chartered, nonprofit educational organization dedicated to encouraging the study and collection of coins and related items. The ANA helps its members and the public discover and explore the world of money through its vast array of educational and outreach programs, to include its museum, library, publications, conventions and webinars.
For 2026, the Mint does not plan to release the Emerging Liberty Half Dollar into general circulation. It, like the 1776-2026 Lincoln Cent, will only be available in special Mint releases, such as Mint Proof Sets. Equally, there is currently no set release date from the Mint for when the coin will be available for purchase.

The Semiquincentennial coinage will be a one-year release, in 2026, celebrating the 250th anniversary of the founding of the United States of America.
The following is a Press Release from Stack’s Bowers Galleries, announcing that the last “Omega” Lincoln Cents have sold at auction. The lot, a three-coin set featuring the 2025-D, 2025(P), and the 24-karat gold Cent struck in Philadelphia, all with the Omega privy mark, sold for an eye-watering $16.76 million.

The very last circulating pennies, or “cents,” sold for over $16.76 million in a special auction byStack’s Bowers Galleries on Thursday, December 12th, presented on behalf of the United States Mint. Included in the sale were 232 three-coin sets featuring one each of the 2025 penny struck at the Philadelphia Mint, the 2025-D penny struck at the Denver Mint, and a historic 2025 penny struck in 24 karat gold also at the Philadelphia Mint. Each of these special coins exhibits a small “Ω” privy mark of the final Greek letter Omega, indicating their role as the capstone to a two-centuries long legacy that first began in 1793 with the Chain Cent.

After a slightly delayed start due to unprecedented levels of collector interest, the sale was underway with tremendous excitement stretching across nearly four hours of competitive bidding. Set #1, presented in the first lot of the sale, soared to an incredible price of $200,000 and established this as a landmark offering for the category’s most elite collectors. The top price of the session was realized by Set #232, which sold for $800,000 as the last lot, and included the very last circulating penny intended for issuance struck at Philadelphia and Denver, along with the final Omega penny in gold. Also included in the lot were the three sets of canceled dies used to strike this historic series. With this $800,000 result, set #232 now ranks as the most valuable modern U.S. numismatic item, surpassing the prior record of $550,000 also set by Stack’s Bowers Galleries in their sale of Space Flown 24 Karat Gold Sacagawea dollars in September 2025. The overall sale total of more than $16.76 million represents an average lot value of over $72,000 for each three-coin set, amounting to nearly 80 times the total combined gold melt value of around $210,000 at the time of the sale. In total, 17 lots each sold for more than $100,000.

This $16.76 million sale is now the highest value auction of special coins sold on behalf of the United States Mint, more than doubling the historic $7.5 million result of the 1933 Saint Gaudens double eagle sold by Stack’s Bowers Galleries in 2002 (in partnership with Sotheby’s). It also ranks among the most valuable single-owner auction sessions held by the firm across their 90-year history as America’s oldest rare coin auctioneer.

“It’s an extraordinary honor to again be selected to partner with the United States Mint to offer exciting numismatic rarities to the collecting public,” noted Stack’s Bowers Galleries President Brian Kendrella. “They captured the public imagination like few rare coins we’ve ever handled. Even our staff of expert numismatists, who see the world’s most famous and valuable rare coins day in and day out, were excited by the chance to handle the very last pennies struck before the suspension of circulating production.”

Remarkably, this $16.76 million Omega penny sale represents the fifth time Stack’s Bowers Galleries has been selected by the United States Mint for a special auction, following their $7.5 million sale of the 1933 Saint-Gaudens $20 in July 2002, their $4.6 million sale of 35th Anniversary American Eagle coins in September 2022, their $8.2 million sale of 230th Anniversary Flowing Hair coins in December 2024 and their $3.2 million sale of the Space Flown 24 Karat Gold Sacagawea dollars in September 2025. No other auction firm in the world—specialized or generalist—boasts this repetitive selection by the United States Mint.

The United States Mint has released its weekly Numismatic Product Sales report for July 7, 2025. The report covers the Mint’s numismatic product sales, such as commemorative coins and annual sets, over the previous seven days. It is separate from the bullion sales report. The Mint reported net sales of 185,021 numismatic products as of July 7, 2025, representing a significant increase from the previous week.

Of the total sales, two products accounted for over 145,000: The uncirculated 2025 Morgan and Peace Dollars. The two coins, which are not being released to the public until tomorrow, have already sold a significant number of the available coins to those in the Mint’s subscription program. With a production limit of 150,000 for each coin, roughly only half of that number will be available for purchase tomorrow. The 2025 Morgan and Peace Dollars were the Mint’s top-selling products last week, followed by the 2025 American Eagle Silver Proof with the United States Army Privy. According to the Mint’s report, 19,556 of the unique American Eagles were sold last week.
