If you’ve decided you want to purchase an RV but are unsure whether to buy a new or a repossessed RV, the best thing to do is compare the two and decide which is right for you.

Price. The biggest difference between a new or repo RV is price. As soon as a new RV is driven off the lot, it loses 30% of its value and then an additional 10-20% in the next couple years. Frequently RVs at used dealerships were purchased by the dealers at auction. They still provide a substantial savings over new ones, but buying a repossessed RV at auction yourself is even cheaper. Banks are interested in getting the RVs off their records as quickly as possible not making a profit, so you can buy quality RVs at low prices.

Amenities. To truly enjoy your RV, it needs to have all the amenities you want. You can find repossessed RVs with the same amenities as new ones, especially since repossessed RVs are usually fairly new. Also consider whether the features you want can be added later or if that would be too difficult or costly. It is often possible to add an upgrade or two to a quality repo rather than paying more for a new RV with everything. For the most part, there is little difference between the amenities available on a new RV versus a repoed recreational vehicle.

Quality. Some manufacturers make better quality new vehicles than others. Used RVs are the same. Some are not only in better condition, but they are also made with better quality. If you don’t want to spend a lot on a new RV, you generally end up having to buy one of lesser quality. Instead buy a repossessed RV and get both the better quality and the better price.

Availability. At a dealership, it is easy to see what is available. Unless a particular RV is very popular, it is likely that if one dealership doesn’t have what you want, another one will. The same is true of used RV dealerships. For repo RV auctions, what is available at each auction varies greatly and you may need to be patient until the right RV turns up.

Though finding a good quality repossessed RV with the amenities you want is more work and will probably take longer than buying new, it will definitely save you a lot of money and be worth it in the end. Figure out what is best for you and choose accordingly.

Due to the global economic downturn there has been a marked increase in the sale of used cars. There are many reasons why it is better to buy used cars over brand new cars. You will save money on the cost price of the car and chances are that your insurance costs will also be less expensive. That is why now is the time to sell a used car if you have one. There are plenty of buyers out there so you should take advantage of this and try to get the most for your used car.

The first impression that a buyer has of your car will impact on how much money you can get for it. If you want to get the best price for your car it is essential that you prepare it for sale. You will get more for your car if it is in good condition and free from scratches and dents. In order to remove scratches, you can buy special products from most auto shops. Deeper scratches can be removed by sanding the area and applying a coat of paint. Giving your car a good clean and polish outside will make it more attractive to potential buyers. Another great tip is to check the tyres. If you think they are worn you should replace them. Tyres which are in good condition can still be made to look better by giving them a polish

The interior of the car should also be prepared before it is seen by buyers. Giving it a good vacuum is a good idea as well as polishing it too. If there are any stains on the upholstery, these should be cleaned too. Replacing any missing parts will prevent potential buyers from using defects to negotiate for a better price. You should make sure that no buyer will be able to find any problems with your car. It is equally important to price your car properly. Check out websites to get an idea of prices of similar cars.

If the time has come for you to be searching out used cars for sale, it’s always best to carry out a proper research ahead of time. Good research lets you find only the best models available. Once you’ve finished, you could find youself driving away from the dealers in a used jeep or even a used lancia.

The cars which are being built today are much more complex than those built 20 to 30 years ago due to the technological advancements. A lot of accessories and extra features most of which operate on electricity, are also included in that. Add some awesome auto accessories like a bigger stereo and you’ll need heavy duty car batteries. All batteries will need to be changed at one time or another, but there are things you can do to make it last longer.

There are a few things you can do to ensure that your battery lasts longer. As it interferes with electrical current, you must clean battery posts quite often in order to protect it from corrosion and gunk. A water hose which is pressurized along with a wire brush will accomplish the job best. Another possibility is for you to buy some aerosol foam battery cleaner from an auto shop which should greatly help with getting rid of any dirt.

If you are having trouble starting your car, the battery may be loose, locate the bracket or clamp holding it in place, and tighten the screws. Since vibrations destroy battery cells and thus will wear the battery out as well, it’s crucial that you know about this. Inspect the cables that connect to the battery and perform any needed maintenance. If you aren’t confident doing this on your own, you should go to a store where they repair automobiles, and have them to it for you. In S. California, AAMCO is pretty good for battery inspection, a free engine scan plus La Habra transmission repair or La Mirada auto repair.

If your battery is definitely dead with no chance of coming back to life, you need to replace it. Go to the auto parts store where you shop for your vehicles and begin searching for a new battery. If you don’t think you can do the job on your own then take advantage of a store’s, often times free, offer to install the battery for you.

To help you find a certain part that you might need for your vehicle, you can either get the information on-line or go into a parts store where a sales clerk can assist you with the correct parts you may need. A store employee can help when asked if you can’t find the right information or what it is that you are looking for. The employees of such shops are very helpful and know everything about car repair.

It wasn’t too long ago when RVs were made with little wooden studs covered in aluminum sheets with a dab of paint here and there. They were heavy, ugly and were not much more than a metal sided camper. There is a new sheriff in town!

There is a new level of quality and comfort than ever before because of the newest technologies used in manufacturing. Aluminum framing, laminated fiberglass side walls and one piece roofs have made RV much lighter and more durable than they have even been. Advances in sealers and construction techniques have virtually eliminated the typical problems camper trailers have had with leaking and inefficient use of space.

Lighter weight construction coupled with advancements in suspension systems and hitches make towing so much easier than ever before. RV enthusiasts have so much more control over their trailers when towing than they have ever had. Family camping trips are now safer and a lot more enjoyable.

There was a time when RV manufacturers used the lightest and cheapest furniture and interior appointments they could get. The result was even expensive trailers looked cheap. Couches were extremely uncomfortable to sit on much less sleep on and dinettes tables were so bad no one wanted to even eat there. Mattresses were so thin you could almost read the paper through one and you felt every spring in the middle of your back all night. You could not wait to get back home after your vacation it was so bad.

Now manufacturers have begun using quality furniture and appliances. Many have gourmet kitchens, pillow top mattresses and air beds sleeper sofas. With the advent of ducted air conditioning, you can sit in your recliner in front of a 50in LCD TV while you enjoy your favorite show. RVs have definitely changed a lot.

The biggest change however, has come with the advent of the Internet. Gone are the days of trudging to one RV Dealer after another, listening to one sales pitch after another just to see different floor plans and prices. You can now do it all in your underwear sitting at your computer. You are able to views different options, visualize different floor plans and compare prices and find that one that floats your boat.

For proof of this, all you have to do is look in the mirror. You are reading this article about RVs on your computer rather than going to your local Keystone RV Dealer and looking at RVs for yourself. A-HA!! I do know what I am talking about after all.
As you shop for a new RV remember they are not your grandparents camper trailer anymore. You can now see our great country the way it was meant to be seen in an RV. Go RVing today. You will be glad you did.

If you’ve heard that government auctions are a great place to get bargains, you’re right. But that doesn’t mean everyone who attends a government auction gets a bargain. Only people who employ the right strategy walk away with incredible deals. A lot of people make mistakes when they first get into government auctions. In this article I will discuss some of these mistakes and how to avoid them. After reading this, you should be on the right path to success in government auctions.

The first thing you should know about government auctions is that a lot of them are actually not government auctions. There are a lot of dubious people out there who sell stolen goods under the guise of being affiliated with the government auction. This means before attending any auction, be sure to do the necessary background work to determine if the agency is related to the government, or if they are fraudulent. This occurs more than you might think. One method of verifying an auctions authenticity is to go to visit a Government Auction Reviews site. This way you can avoid any auction scams and have an expert opinion by someone who specializes is in this field.

Next, make sure to read over the rules and regulations of each auction. There are many different government agencies in many different types of government auctions. Naturally, each has its own rules and regulations. If you don’t know the particulars of the auction before entering into a contract, you’re bound to wind up with some surprises. Nothing ruins a good deal faster than not knowing all the details.

Finally, be sure to inspect the goods before you purchase them. Although this sounds like common sense, a lot of people often make the mistake that if you’re buying it from a government auction that it won’t fall apart as soon as you get home. Most government auctions sell goods as is, so what you get you get. Don’t rush into any purchase without a thorough inspection first.

In conclusion, government auctions are great but they have a learning curve just like anything else. Use these three tips, and also be on the lookout for other things you need to learn before you become aggressive in getting deals from government options. With a little bit of patience, you’ll be able score great bargains regularly at government auctions.

Getting good vehicles at discounted prices can be a hard thing to imagine, especially nowadays when the prices of everything are continuously going up.

Getting good vehicles from government auctions is a wonderful option to look at. The government periodically holds auctions to bid off different kinds of vehicles from different sources.

There are vehicles which are confiscated from criminals. Once the investigations are done and the felons are convicted, their confiscated vehicles are usually sold at government auctions. A wide variety of vehicles can be found during these government auctions.

There are also used government vehicles that are auctioned off to the public after the government has offered these vehicles to other states. The used vehicles are auctioned off because of the rising cost of storing these vehicles which the government shoulders.

Here are some basic tips on how to go about buying surplus vehicles through government auctions.

1. Check the affiliation of the auction first

There are a lot of auctions out there that are posing to be legally affiliated with a government institution. To avoid subsequent troubles and to make sure that everything is in proper place, one should check the affiliation of the auction and counter-check it by asking the institution. Caution is very important in participating in such auctions.

2. Check the schedules of the different government auctions

Getting one’s hands on a good pick requires some researching and good timing. Remember that there are a lot of other people who are eyeing on these government auctions and being informed is a good way to get ahead.

There are many government auctions which are held by the General Service Administration, the US Marshall Service, the US Postal Service, the Internal Revenue Service, the US Small Business Administration and many others.

One can find good vehicles and other stuff such as furniture, heavy equipment, scientific equipment and yes, even livestock.

3. Don’t judge the car by your first impression

Always take in mind that the vehicles that are offered in government auctions have been in stagnant condition for a long period of time. Before the government auctions these vehicles to the public, they are first offered to other states which might be in need of these vehicles.

So if one sees vehicles in fairly bad exterior condition ( flat tires, dusty and rusted hood, and such other similar conditions) one must be able to look forward and see the vehicle after it has been restored.

4. Always consult a price list

One can probably ask for a list of the auctioned materials from the proper authority and make a preliminary research regarding the current price of the said vehicle. One can definitely make use of the web to be able to get an updated price for certain surplus vehicles.

5. Avoid unreasonable price spirals

In any type of auctions, there are bidders who do not know how to play the game. It only takes two bidders to make the price of a certain vehicle to shoot up unreasonably above its current market price. Bidders should always avoid this unwanted spiraling of prices especially if he is on a tight budget.

These are just some practical tips on how to effectively purchase a surplus vehicle from a government auction. The wise always win in auctions, he takes everything into consideration and make the right bids at the right time.

Selling your vehicle privately can seem to be a daunting task. With a few simple rules to follow, it can however, turn into a profitable experience for both you and the buyer. Always do plenty of research regarding every step of the process and keep good records of any and all paperwork and in the end you can turn your old vehicle into cash!

The first step is to know the market. Family cars like minivans or sedans are always in high demand. People are always having children and growing their families. While these cars may not be the most exciting on the market, they are very practical to a lot of people. If you are selling a convertible or sports car, try to wait and sell it during warmer months. More people will want to look at a fun, flashy car when the sun is warm and shining and they can show it off around town. Also, do some research online and get an idea for what the average going rate is for cars similar to the one you want to sell.

A couple useful tools online are Kelly Blue Book and Edmunds.com. These websites will help you to calculate what the fair market value for your vehicle is so you can price it accordingly. After researching what other people are selling similar cars for and getting a fair market value price for your vehicle, decide on a selling price. Make sure you leave some room for negotiating, buyers will inevitably try to get the best deal they can but you don’t want to end up taking a price lower than you really want. Also, price your vehicle carefully. People like the look of a nice round number, like “$8250″. If you price your vehicle at “$9347″, you could lose some potential buyers.

The next important step to take is to make sure you bump up your vehicle’s curb appeal. The first impression is a lasting impression. Take your car to an auto detailing place and get them to clean it from top to bottom. Make sure everything is as clean and shiny as you can get it. Remove any junk or trash from the floorboards and be sure to empty the trunk. Also, give the car a good washing and waxing and see if there are any scratches or dings that you can easily buff out so your car is looking its best. Most buyers will decide in the first few seconds of looking at your car whether or not they are interested in buying it. Also, consider getting a Carfax report to show buyers that the title is clean.

After you have gotten your car up and running and clean, it’s time to tackle the advertising. Newspaper ads, while a bit pricey, get the best results. In this digital age, online ads can also be profitable. Many websites let you advertise for free and you could get some good hits off of them. Also, put a For Sale sign in the window of your car. This can be especially effective if you plan to continue to drive the vehicle while you are trying to sell it.

Once you have advertising out for your vehicle, be prepared for phone calls and always make the potential buyer comfortable so they will want to come out and look at the car. Also, be prepared for potential buyers to negotiate the price you have set. Try to prepare answers to questions like “What’s the best price you’ll give me” or “Would you accept (amount)?”. And finally, know your bottom line and don’t go below it; let the buyer leave and if they are truly interested, they will call you back the next day willing to pay your price.

Once you have a sale in the works, check with your local DMV to make sure that you are following all the laws regarding the sale of a vehicle. Sometimes you can also find a release of liability form to download on the DMV’s website. Record all important information about your vehicle prior to the sale, like the odometer reading and be sure to keep copies of all the paperwork dealing with the sale. And finally, once the sale has been finalized and the title was signed over to the new buyer, remember to cancel your insurance policy. You don’t want to pay insurance on the vehicle for any longer than you have to!

Are you thinking about selling your old vehicle? Some may say that selling it online is the best route to take. It does have its advantages. However, you want to be sure that you get a good return on investment and sell your vehicle for top dollar. How else will you upgrade to a Mercedes from a Kia? Here are some useful tips for car owners who want to sell their vehicles online.

First, you want to identify the hot trends and most sought after models. You may have a vehicle that is typically priced at a higher range, so search on the internet when thinking about price. Because of the economy and the “go green” movement, hybrids, vintage Mustangs, as well as any smaller, fuel-efficient car is selling the best in the market as of today.

Of course you should always be ready to answer tough questions that may arise. Place yourself in the shoes of a potential buyer and practice answering questions such as, “What condition is your car in?” “Do you consider this a good price.” Being firm and confident is key, especially when trying to gain the top dollar.

Expose your vehicle as much as you can. Eighty percent of online shoppers only browse the first page. Be sure you have your listing on multiple sites and that you re-post every day so that yours shows up in the first few search results. When you do write your ad, be sure to show off your car’s best features. Make sure to include desirable traits such as sunroofs, power windows and doors, as well as a high end stereo system or a low amount of miles. All of this will get you a better return on investment.

Especially since you are trying to sell online, and there is tons of competition, you must include a photograph. Most people skip the ads that fail to show one. Usually, people consider your car to be trash if the seller doesn’t take pride in pictures. This is also very necessary if you happen to have some rusting, dents, or cracks. Buyers need to know this in advance and be okay with it.

When selling online or not, you should always have your paperwork handy. You need the title, registration, your driver’s license (if they want to see it) as well as all the maintenance records you might have. This is just common courtesy and no one will buy it without knowing you have the first two documents. Lastly, you want to clean up your car. Make it feel brand new by cleaning the interior as best you can or take it to a detailer. Nobody wants a luxurious Benz with old beat up Mercedes floor mats. It’s much better to spend a couple bucks restoring this, and you will definitely get more than you bargained for. As always, be honest, aware, and very cordial when dealing with potential buyers. Remember, it’s a dog eat dog world out there, use your best judgment.

Confronted with the task of shipping a car? If so, the good news is it is a fairly painless process. That doesn’t mean, however, that there are some key things you need to know about transport companies.

Your car is a valuable asset. When shipping it, you need to take the time to make sure the company you are using is both legitimate and the right one for your particular vehicle. As with any business, some shipping companies provide a quality service at a fair price while others fall short. Let’s take a look at some of the factors you want to look at when evaluating the different car companies.

The first issue is to see whether a company is bonded and insured. These sound like boiling legal subjects, but they are vital when moving vehicles. How so? Well, the simple question is are there going to be funds to pay for any damage to your vehicle should it occur? You know there will be with a bonded, insured company.

What about licensing? Well, these days it is fairly simple to get licensed. Yes, it is a positive sign, but in many states it essentially means the company had the money to pay the license fee and that is about all. It is not indicative of the quality of their service nor does it provide any remedy to you should problems occur.

The second factor is one that is related more to common sense. Simply put, it makes sense to go with specialization. Let’s assume you have a motorcycle and need it shipped across the country. Are you going to go with a company that specializes in cars, but will do a motorcycle as well or a company that specializes only in two wheelers? The answer should be obvious. The company that specializes in motorcycles is undoubtedly going to do a better job.

In the vast majority of cases, most people will have no problem with shipping their babies [cars!]. This is particularly true if you follow the above recommendations.
