The biggest reality show in Africa is back and AfricaMagic
can reveal that Season 8 of Big Brother Africa has been dramatically
titled The Chase. 28 housemates from 14 countries will not only be
chasing after the 300 000 USD cash prize but the chance of becoming a
household name and perhaps even finding romance.

Launching on
Sunday 26 May, Big Brother The Chase will combine electrifying twists
and big surprises that will require housemates to use their charm to get
ahead, possibly leaving room for cupid’s arrow to connect two hearts or
more.

Setting the tone, in line with theme, the new seasons logo
showcases a glittering and slightly flirtatious feel with chic, edgy
gold plated lines. The iconic Big Brother eye has an enchanting gold
dust finish with a dazzling diamond centre, featuring a teasing hint of
ruby red.

More good news is that the witty and entertaining IK
Osakioduwa returns once again in 2013 to host The Chase. He has won many
fans across the continent for his ability to speak openly with
housemates and allow them to be at ease at their most vulnerable
moments. “Big Brother Africa is a pretty unique show. Every season has
its own special moments and features. I'm super excited to be invited
back to host the show. I have thoroughly enjoyed the past seasons and I
look forward to bringing a fresh and energetic approach to The Chase,”
says the popular TV and radio presenter.

Commenting on the new Season M-Net Africa Managing Director Biola Alabi says, “Without revealing too much, I can say that AfricaMagic
always strives to deliver the best in entertainment and Big Brother
Africa remains at the forefront of our plans. We want to give audiences
and loyal fans of the show, a truly unforgettable viewing experience
once again. This season audiences can expect a show encompassing
suspense, emotions, drama, fun, excitement and quite possibly, as we
have seen in previous seasons, a little romance.

Having produced
Big Brother Africa from Season one, Endemol promises a sterling edition
of The Chase, “Endemol is excited to present another season of Big
Brother in Africa. Another vintage season lies in store with fresh new
twists and surprises and ultimately great reality entertainment” adds
Managing Director of Endemol South Africa Sivan Pillay.

With less
than four weeks remaining to the big launch night, audiences can get
the latest Big Brother Africa updates right here and by liking the
Facebook page Big Brother Africa and following us on Twitter: @BigBroAfrica.

For

DStv channels 197 and 198 while GOtv audiences will be able to see
highlights. So stay tune…Biggie has returned and the fun is about to
Universal Channel (DStv 117) on MultiChoice's DStv pay-TV platform
erroneously broadcast an "obituary" of Remembering Madiba on Tuesday
night about the frail elderly statesman Nelson Mandela - who is very
much alive - the TV channel is now a profusely apologising for the
"technical error"

However, the TV Station has since released an apoogy.

See the apology after the cut

"Like any international broadcaster, Universal Networks holds obituaries
ready for every major statesman in the word," says Universal Networks
International which programmes the Universal Channel on DStv, after the
mistake.

"Universal Networks wishes to offer a sincere and heartfelt apology for
the airing of such an announcement for Nelson Mandela which was
broadcast last night on the Universal Channel due to a technical error
by our team."

"We unreservedly apologise to the Mandela family, to Universal Channel
viewers and to DStv subscribers for the alarm and offense caused by this
error. Our thoughts and best wishes are with Madiba and his family for a
speedy and full recovery,"says Universal Networks International.
After
many weeks of drama and pregnant atmosphere, the Imo state legislators
went into labor this afternoon and delivered a bouncing Easter baby
without complications. The Imo State House of Assembly impeached Sir
Jude Agbaso from the exalted office of Deputy Governor. It will be
recalled that the impeachment process began when a contractor in the
state said he gave a whooping N458m naira as bribe to Sir Jude Agbaso in
exchange of more contracts. While Agbaso admitted he received a bottle
of Blue label porsche from the contractor, he however denied collecting
bribe from the contractor (Joseph Dina).

According to reliable
information reaching us, 23 out of the 27 legislators voted
in the affirmative in total support of the impeachment. Out of the
four, we learned that Hon. Kingsley Obimaku (Ehime mbano
constituency), Hon. Eugene Dibiagwu (Oguta state constituency) voted in
absentia. Hon. Dan Ikpeazu (Owerri North) who was present washed his hands off the impeachment while the Speaker, Rt.Hon. Benjamin Uwajumogu did not vote.

Meanwhile, following
the impeachment of Sir Jude Agbaso, the Imo State House of Assembly has
confirmed Prince Ezeakonobi Madumere as Deputy Governor.
Prior to
this development, His Excellency who hails from Achi-mbieri (Mbaitoli
Local government area) served as Chief of Staff to the Governor.

Chibuike Uwakwe

When some 23 years ago the family of Mr & Mrs Charles
Uwakwe welcomed the birth of the first son of the house; Chibuike, little did
they know that they were been blessed with a genius. Today marks the birthday
of that genius, philosopher, writer and orator. As I always do whenever someone
so dear to me celebrates his/her birthday, I will be using the few lines below
to convey my unadulterated feelings and wishes for him as he celebrates his
birthday today.

I came to know Uwakwe Chibuike some 19 years ago, where
perhaps by chance I was introduced into the family of Uwakwe by nature. Growing
up as a child I knew him to be the only brother I had. He is more than a
brother, he is a friend an accomplice and a role model. Looking back at the 19
years of love and togetherness, I cannot but thank God for the gift of his
life.

Saying that Uwakwe Chibuike influenced my life to a great
extent is no exaggeration. I owe half if not all of my philosophies, ideologies
and beliefs to him. He introduced me into the world of IT, as I remember with nostalgia
those days when I will have to clean his shoes in other to follow him to the
cyber-café. He thought me how to write, dress and speak. He took care of me
during my days in the seminary. He bought me my first phone. His prayers were constantly on me.

He has been so impactful in my life that the history of
Uwakwe Martin cannot be written anywhere without the mention of his name.

My advice to him is this. God has blessed him immensely with
the gifts necessary for the work of salvation. May he make good use of those gifts
purposefully and to the glory of God. May he be steadfast and loose not focus
of the plans God has for his life for I see greatness in him.

Happy birthday Broda Chibuike. I love you, but God loves you
most

According to reports, the Lagos State Commandant of the Nigerian
Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, Mr Obafaiye Shem, has been
suspended.

His suspension comes on the heels of his now famous “my oga at the top”
comment which went viral after his embarrassing ordeal at the Channels
Television breakfast programme – Sunrise Daily.

Well maybe the "Oga at the top" Suspended him.

I just finished my first semester exams at school yesterday. Probably the best exams I have written so far. I thank God for his mercies and favours upon me throughout the semester, save for a little problem i had during one of the test I had. this is my best semester s far.

I now have about three weeks to spend at home before resuming for the second semester.

When I woke up on the 26th of February, I was full of
confidence knowing fully well I was going to write a test on a course I know
and love so much; "Computers and Application" a 4-unit course and
interestingly the course with the highest unit. From the beginning of the
semester I had this confidence that come what may CSC 201 as the course is called was one which I would get an 'A'.
For those who are conversant with the University grading system an A in a four
unit course is no mean feat. It can do a lot of good to your CGPA. This explains the brouhaha
surrounding the proposed CSC 201 test which turned out to be a bad one for me.
Continue reading to find out why I called it a bad one.

On that day, I had woken up by 5 am, took my bath, brushed
my teeth, gulped down a cup of tea with the remnants of the Century 21 bread I
bought the previous day. The day was bright, the confidence was high and the
only thing on my mind was to go out there and tell the Computer Science
department what stuff I was made up of. I left the hostel at about 6:15 for a
cool and serene environment where I revised the course, taking time to cross my
t's and dot my i's. I bet you that by 10:00am I was as confident as the Ivory Coast players when they heard they were
going to face Nigeria
in the AFCON quarter finals.(No pun intended). At this juncture the issue was
no longer at passing the test, but at coming out with the maximum score. If
anybody had told me that I will come out of the exam hall shedding tears like a
2 year old child who was forced to attend school, I would have simply branded
him/her insane and an 'enemy of progress'

At this juncture I left the place I was doing my revision
for my exam hall located near my department's office building since the test
was to start by 10:30 am. My arrival into the hall coincided with the entry of
the invigilator, a dark, hefty staunch looking man I later came to know as Mr.
Bolaji. With a very hoarse voice He ordered us to get ready for the test and at
exactly 10:40am the test began. I was presented with my question paper. Five
cheap questions to answer in 3,600 seconds. "What the hell were these
people taking us for?" was the question that popped out of my mind. The
questions were relatively cheap compared to the ones written by the previous
sets. I voraciously jumped on the questions, taking my time to answer the
questions like a pro. In fifteen minutes I was almost through.

However, what happened in the next 10 minutes formed my
decision to put down this. It was a very bad one for me as under my very own
nose, I saw my precious 20 marks slip off me. First the invigilator seeing how
voraciously I was writing probably thought I was a mercenary sent to lead some
people into the promised land removed me from were I was sitting and sent me to
the last row. However, this was not to take his eyes off me. I had barely
settled in my new abode, when I saw him walk towards me and as an eagle would
do when it sights a chick he swooped on my paper, rumpled it and in my own very
eyes threw it out of the window. For few minutes I sat on my seat pinching
myself making sure I was not actually in the world of Disney. I was transfixed,
dumbfounded and shocked. Cold shivers were immediately sent down my spines. Is
this man for real? I asked myself. Probably he never knew this was a four unit
course. While still sitting on my sit bemoaning my faith and still trying to
fathom what actually transpired, he ordered me out of the hall, and before I
could say "Jack Robinson" he had already ordered the security men out
there to take me out. It was at this point I knew he actually meant business.
Was this actually happening to me? If me then why in this course? How on this
earth am I going to get an A when my 20 marks is already parting ways with me.
One striking thing about what this man did was that unlike in other peoples'
case, he would simply pick up there answer sheets and walk them out of the
hall, he actually rumpled mine and threw it out of the window. If he had
actually submitted my uncompleted work I would be better-off since I was almost
through with mine.

For the next 30 minutes I did everything humanly possible to
get back into the hall for a 'second chance' despite the fact that I still know
that I did nothing wrong. All pleas went on a deaf ears as the man threatened
to slap me if I come forward with that "please sir" of a thing. For
the first time in my life the meaning of the word "Insensitive"
became so clear to me. Here I was crying like a child. Only if the man knew the
impact his action could cause on my CGPA. When I knew how serious this was, was
when he actually reminded the class that they have just 5 minutes to round up.
The reality of the whole thing became clear to me. That I was loosing 20 marks
already was no longer contestable. Minutes later he collected the scripts from
everybody and zoomed off.

However, before he left I followed him to where he parked
his motor-cycle and made him understand that what he did was wrong. I also made
him understand that his action will in no way deter me from achieving my goals.
What doesn't kill one, only makes him stronger, I consoled myself. That I am
very good in Computer science is not to be contested, and that remains the
fact. However, one thing I trust the lord is to do the impossible. I am fully
confident that come April when the results will probably be released, I will
come out with an "A". Though I accept that my chances are slim
knowing fully well that I must have at least 70/80 in the main exam, not excluding
the practical. It's a challenge. I wont fail to also write Mr. Bolaji,
informing him once more of my displeasure and promising to surprise him with
the maximum grade when the result comes out. For me what matters is what I've
got upstairs. Other peoples' opinions/actions are infinitesimal and adds no
value to my life. At this juncture I will be dropping my pen while getting
ready to face my exams which will start in a weeks time. FUTO will surely
celebrate me one day, the same way Harvard celebrated Gates. I rest my case.

Pope Benedict XVI on Monday said he plans on resigning the papal office on February 28. The following is the full text of Benedict's declaration:

Dear Brothers,

I have convoked you to this Consistory, not only for the three canonizations, but also to communicate to you a decision of great importance for the life of the Church. After having repeatedly examined my conscience before God, I have come to the certainty that my strengths, due to an advanced age, are no longer suited to an adequate exercise of the Petrine ministry. I am well aware that this ministry, due to its essential spiritual nature, must be carried out not only with words and deeds, but no less with prayer and suffering. However, in today's world, subject to so many rapid changes and shaken by questions of deep relevance for the life of faith, in order to govern the bark of Saint Peter and proclaim the Gospel, both strength of mind and body are necessary, strength which in the last few months, has deteriorated in me to the extent that I have had to recognize my incapacity to adequately fulfill the ministry entrusted to me. For this reason, and well aware of the seriousness of this act, with full freedom I declare that I renounce the ministry of Bishop of Rome, Successor of Saint Peter, entrusted to me by the Cardinals on 19 April 2005, in such a way, that as from 28 February 2013, at 20:00 hours, the See of Rome, the See of Saint Peter, will be vacant and a Conclave to elect the new Supreme Pontiff will have to be convoked by those whose competence it is.

Dear Brothers, I thank you most sincerely for all the love and work with which you have supported me in my ministry and I ask pardon for all my defects. And now, let us entrust the Holy Church to the care of Our Supreme Pastor, Our Lord Jesus Christ, and implore his holy Mother Mary, so that she may assist the Cardinal Fathers with her maternal solicitude, in electing a new Supreme Pontiff. With regard to myself, I wish to also devotedly serve the Holy Church of God in the futu
