UWF honors the late John Markowitz with new scholarship endowment

On Oct. 16, the University of West Florida College of Arts, Social Sciences and Humanities honored the life and work of the late John Markowitz with a memorial reception that celebrated the newly named John Markowitz Memorial Painting Studio and announced a scholarship endowment in his name. Markowitz taught studio art and art history at UWF for 24 years up until his retirement in August 2024.

The Art Gallery at the University of West Florida presents “Roll-Call: The 2023 Art and Design Faculty Exhibition” from Oct. 19 through Dec. 8. An opening reception will be held at TAG on Thursday, Oct. 19 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Artwork will be on display at TAG, located in the Center for Fine and Performing Arts, Building 82, on the Pensacola campus.

UWF provides resources to bring entrepreneurial ideas to life with Makerspace at Museum of Commerce

The University of West Florida’s Makerspace will open at the Museum of Commerce on Nov. 11. The Makerspace, approximately 1,000 square feet dedicated to creative, entrepreneurial and artistic activities, was funded through the Next Big Thing program, led by UWF President Martha D. Saunders.
