University of West Florida student team secures finalist spot in national supply chain case competition

A team of four undergraduate students from the University of West Florida earned the finalist position, placing fourth, at the second National Association of State Procurement Officials, or NASPO, Supply Chain Case Competition hosted in Raleigh, North Carolina on Oct. 4 and 5. The competition aims to bridge the gap between classroom learning and real-world application for procurement professionals. Supply chain management students Joshua Burrow, Amanda Eakin, Joshua Richardson and Jennifer Small competed against teams from eight other universities nationwide. Dr. Vitaly Brazhkin served as the team advisor.

UWF announces $5 million legacy gift from the Bear Family Foundation to name the College of Business

University of West Florida President Martha D. Saunders announced today a gift of $5 million from The Bear Family Foundation to name the UWF College of Business. The college is slated to be named the Lewis Bear Jr. College of Business, contingent on UWF Board of Trustees approval at its quarterly meeting in June. This is the third college to be named in the University’s history.

UWF supply chain logistics students place second in national competition

A group of six University of West Florida supply chain logistics students traveled to Denver where they placed second at Operation Stimulus, the longest running supply chain and logistics student case competition in North America. UWF surpassed 14 schools from across the country, for example, Iowa State, Miami University, Syracuse, and North Texas. Since attending for the first time 14 years ago, this is the ninth year that UWF has placed in the top four.
