Well this drove me nuts for a few weeks, some take ages to load if they do, apparently this happens with older generation routers/firewalls, I solved it by doing the following:

Go to System Preferences

Network

Choose whatever type of connection you have (wireless/ethernet…)

Click on Advanced

Click on Hardware

Choose from the drop down list Manual

Change the MTU from 1500 to 1300

Click Ok

Shut down your mac

Reset your PRAM (Shut down your mac, switch it on and press simultaneously Command (⌘), Option, P, and R till you hear the startup sound TWICE and let go)

It did work for me, some are not having much luck with it, give it a shot and just let me know!

[Edit]: Apparently it’s not solving the issue permanently for some users, the workaround would be to use Google’s public DNS 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4:

System Preferences -> Network -> Ethernet (or Wifi, depending on what you are using) -> Advanced -> DNS -> add 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4

It turns out that Captcha is enabled by default in your Gmail account, and for some reason or another it disables – sometimes- adding POP emails, so the trick is simple, all you have to do is

Sign in to the account you want to migrate/fetch download

Visit this link http://www.google.com/accounts/DisplayUnlockCaptcha

Sign out and finish your work in less than 10 minutes cuz it disables the Captcha for just 10 minutes before enabling it back

Hope this helps, I went crazy for a few minutes there trying to figure this out!

I never was a fan of Axure (Mac WAS not supported) and the lack of some libraries was a real pain.

It’s always sitting there on my dock, waiting patiently to use it for some prototyping…

A few weeks back (yes that long) I got contacted by Axutopia for a free spin of their library. Being a fan of Amir Khella (The guy launched a profitable business with just 47.50$ and 3 hours of work, read it!) I was excited.

Anyways

+3000 shapes

Editable texts

Android

Blackberry

Twitter/Bootstrap

Facebook

iPad

iPhone

OSx

Web 2.0 Widgets

Windows 7

Windows Phone

The whole lot plus gesture icons! Quantity wise, it covers pretty much every popular interface out there, is it complete? So far I didn’t need to search for anything else.

Quality wise, you don’t have anything to complain about, crisp and pixel perfect, too perfect for me for prototyping. I have no illustration skills (Draw Something is a witness) so the quality here is perfect for that customer that wants to see “high fidelity” prototypes and saves me the trouble of spending ages on Illustrator or the likes.

Ending up with a nice clean screen is no sweat as it really is a matter of dragging and dropping around and you don’t have to worry about tweaking anything in the library.

With a huge selection of shapes and screens, the most complete bunch is the iOS (Alternate states available)

Going through the library is not difficult, you get either Axure files or library files. The only downside (I am just being lazy here) is the missing labeling (yes I am being way too lazy) when browsing through the library.

Any complaints? not really. It’s very comprehensive except when it comes to the Windows 7. You have over 3000 shapes, large widgets can be broken down to use specific elements. Changing scale actors in Axure is a must if you are designing for large/small scale mobiles.

Is it worth it? for 97$ yes it is, think about all the time you search, scale, fix, rotate, compile, to have a library that is workable. 3000 shapes for 97$ (limited time) is nothing, best of all, they support Google Checkout so no frustrations when it comes to Paypal.

It has been brought up quite a few times lately that I am “anti activist/m”

I am not bound to explain anything to anyone, everyone is entitled to their own opinions and beliefs. What I would like to do though is clarify a few points for everyone to reflect upon:

Changing your Facebook/Twitter picture will not cure cancer/change anything (it just confuses the hell out of us to figure out who’s who since your avatars/profiles are a very quick visual indicator to who your highness is)

Updating your status to some color will not cure breast cancer

Telling where you like to “get it” is as effective as standing in the middle of the desert (or sitting on your chair) and hoping that it rains a million dollars on your head

Cussing politicians won’t solve the problem

Signing an online petition is as effective as staring at a candle and hoping it transforms into a strawberry flavored orange

You are addressing the symptoms and not the cause.

What should you do? Hell if I care, just remember that there’s a fine line between “raising awareness” and being a total douche bag/spammer/flooder.

What I like about QITAF is that you see the whole ad from a different perspective. All the wireframes, the blue screen, the whole deal is shown before rendering and in a somewhat interactive way. You can check the any part of ad while it runs, how it looks before the rendering. Link after the video break!

First things first,

Apologies I am not posting that much online. Between Gigalb (which is under heavy renovation) and Wamda I’ve been swamped with work. I am taking a brief break from the blog (not really, just redesigning it and new content structure, I promise you are going to like it) and I am a speaker at Arabnet this year, so preparations are heavy!

Meanwhile, you can keep an eye on my posts at Wamda and Gigalb and if you want anything to be reviewed drop me a line! (Shhhh a new version of Cohdoo‘s Highlight is coming up ;) )

Till then, thank you for everything!

I was aiming to raise just like last year 250$ (Managed to raise 350$ instead), but this year you all guys surprised me and managed to raise 954$ for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. That’s almost 4 times more than the initial goal.

I would like to thank every single person who liked the page, the endless tweets and retweets, all 26 donors, everyone who helped spread the word, thank you endlessly for making it a perfect birthday and helping the kids even with a small donation. Everything counts!

You guys are awesome!
