About Placid Piranha Promotions + The Winchester Massive
Welcome to the temporary home of The Winchester Massive, an online guide to what's going on within the wonderful world of the music scene in Winchester.
This site aims to bring you up to date news and gossip from local bands, reviews and gig listings, as well as your indespensable guide to the Winchester music scene.
The Winchester Massive was founded by local promoter Rob Ball, Placid Piranha Promotions and is now run by a collective of local musicians and enthusiasts.
"The Winchester Massive is an unstoppable ideological movment with an uprecidented army of fanatics who follow a bizzare personality cult which systematical and ruthlessly opresses opposition and freedom of speech whilst promoting a climite of suspicion and fear. Despite this, Winchester has an incredible concentration of talented young musicians and thankfully The Winchester Massive is giving it an outlet. one of these days Winchester will rival Bristol and Oxford for producing music that matters and when it does it'll be The Massive, Valley Studios and The Railway to thank." Ryan O'Reilly
"The Winchester Massive is a great way for new bands to get exposure in Winchester. Rob obviously has regular nights at the Railway, which is one of the most important venues in the south, so when you're just starting out it's great to be put on a bill with one of the more established acts that he usually has up his sleeve. Ben's podcasts have been a really useful tool in getting our songs and our names heard by a wider audience. - thanks to the Winch massive we're definitely on the up!" Caesura

It was really good ta. I didn't play as many completely unknown bands as I would have liked though - my laptop died a few weeks aog and I lost everything so lost all my demos of bands and stuff!
I'm working on that though..and now have the Glad Rags to play and such next week :D
For a month or so now, we've been available on Facebook, iLike and ReverbNation. And for the past few weeks we've been in the process' of making a new website (www.moralsoul.co.uk), and our MySpace has had a refurb to match. We've also got a new mailing list, a Bebo profile and you can now vote for us on XFM Uploaded and Channel4 Music. If you haven't done so already, we would really appreciate it if you could all spend a minute or two hitting the sites and showing us some love! Don't forget to sign up to the new mailing list too, as we're going to stop using the old one soon! Thanx!!
Hi Rob, thanks for accepting us. I know we've only just met and all but it would be great if you and say 50 of your friends could make it to the Railway Inn on Thursday. You can? oh great, thanks! i see sparks... (seriously though, cheers for accepting!)
Rob - belated well dones for Oxjam - I enjoyed playing my small part on Day 1 (and shocked to see my pic on Oxjam page snapped 'collecting money'off total strangers). See you at Railway tonight or soon! Henry/Idol Rich
