]]> Here we have a set of “textures” created using a combination of programs and plugins, specifically Maya 2013, Adobe After Effects, and an After Effects plugin by Red Giant called Trapcode Form.

First I created an abstract 3D shape in Maya, then imported that into After Effects, applied the Form plugin, and by manipulating the properties, camera views, and depth of field, I created these seven still frames. Each image measures 3000 pixels wide and 2000 pixels high. Enjoy!

]]> These textures started off as microscopic photos of sugar mixed with food coloring (perhaps coming out in the future). My first step was vectorizing the images in Illustrator to create those super crisp, clean shapes and outlines. After pushing the colors and adding some simple grunge and noise, we have our finished result. They have a vibrant artificial neon rock formation aesthetic that seems fresh inspiring. Each one is 4500×3000, enjoy!

]]> These textures were made using a microscope slide that contained water, dish soap, and coffee grounds. Previous microscopic experiments with dish soap taught me that the ingredient produces very active and kinetic bubble formations. Adding coffee grounds to the slide created the brownish-orange hue you see in this set. I’ve even added a video to this post to show you a brief example of the bubbles in motion. You will see one big bully of a bubble pushing his way through a group of smaller ones.
Each texture is the standard size of 4500×300, hope you enjoy!

]]> Earlier this week I purchased Trapcode Mir for After Effects. It is the most exciting and promising evolution to my work that has come along in ages. These wallpapers are products of my early experimentation with the plugin. I created fractal frame composition in After Effects, then did the color correction and occasional texture-layering in Photoshop. Each wallpaper is 2880×1800. Enjoy, and please leave some feedback.
