Hask Superfruit Healthy Hair Shampoo

The Hask Superfruit Healthy Hair Shampoo comes in a tinted sturdy plastic bottle. The shampoo has a nice moderately thin texture without being runny that spreads easily onto the scalp and hair. It appears pearlescent white and smells like berries. The entire Hask hair care line is sulphate (SLS) free and just like the Kalahari one this shampoo lathered brilliantly. Just spread it onto wet scalp and hair and work your fingers through it to form lots of lather. It cleans the hair really well without drying it. The formula is excellent and will work for most hair types especially for those with dry and dull hair. This doesn’t specifically say its ok for color treated hair so I stick to using it just once a week for getting soft, shiny and healthy looking hair.

The Hask Superfruit Healthy Hair Conditioner comes in a tinted sturdy plastic bottle. The conditioner has a creamy consistency comparatively thinner than the Kalahari one. It spreads easily onto the hair. Unlike some conditioners that need bucket loads of water to be cleaned up from the hair, this conditioner works like a breeze. It doesn’t get stuck on the hair and is easy to wash away. Just like the shampoo, this conditioner smells like berries. This conditioner adds ample softness, smoothness and shine and overall hair appears healthy looking. It is extremely moisturizing and can end up being slightly heavy on the hair if you have fine hair like mine. So, my favorite way of using this is to scrunch the hair from the ends. This helps in conditioning the hair from the tips and at the same time doesn’t end up weighing it down. Those with fine hair, should try using it this way. However, for anyone that needs a hydrating shampoo & conditioner duo that is guaranteed to do the job, Hask Superfruit Healthy Hair duo is one of the best options around at such an affordable price.

Hask Superfruit Healthy Hair Deep Conditioner

The Hask Superfruit Healthy Hair Deep Conditioner has a very thick creamy consistency. It works well in distributing evenly onto wet hair. Just like the conditioner this is extremely hydrating and can be used as a moisturizing hair mask once a week. It will soften the hair and add ample much shine. Though not recommended for someone with fine hair, this is excellent for dry, damaged or dull hair.

Recommendation

Very much recommended for anyone looking for an affordable hydrating shampoo, conditioner duo. Hask Superfruit Healthy Hair range will revamp dry, damaged, dull looking hair to healthy looking hair with ample softness, shine and smoothness.

The shade is “Always Red” – a perfect blue based red for the party season. I LOVE this formula – it’s so creamy yet lightweight and has opaque coverage. It goes on uber smooth, dries down to a matte finish and has excellent staying power. I have to grab a few more of these beauties.

Make Up For Ever Step 1 Smoothing Primer

A makeup primer that assists with balancing the skin’s texture and tone for smoother, more even, and longer-lasting makeup wear. The Smoothing Primer does the job well – provides a clean base for foundation to glide on. I have used it just once so the jury’s still out on whether this will make it to my buy-list.

Urban Decay All Nighter Makeup Setting Spray

A weightless setting spray that keeps makeup looking just-applied for up to 16 hours. This is my all time favorite setting spray. And now I have a travel version – yay! It fuses the powder makeup to the base makeup so beautifully and locks it in place for the entire day. I had applied my makeup around 11 in the morning and was out until 5 am the next morning. My makeup hadn’t moved an inch. True winner!

Dry Bar Detox Dry Shampoo

A unique dry shampoo for all hair types that absorbs oils and impurities while adding body. Dry shampoos are my hair saviors all year round. No matter the weather, my hair has a tendency to go limp because of its fine texture. Dry Bar Detox dry shampoo fits my requirement bill perfectly. It absorbs oil from the scalp and adds nice amount of body to the hair. Hair feels very clean with zero white patches.

Elizabeth & James Nirvana Bourbon

Elizabeth and James Nirvana Bourbon is a provocative blend of sultry vanilla bourbon, oakwood, and a hint of tuberose for a bold, oriental-woody scent with intoxicating confidence. I love the scent and it’s definitely my type of fragrance – feminine without being sweet with a touch of woodsy and musky tone.

Overall, I absolutely loved the samples in the December box. Great value for money and I am pretty sure I’d use all my samples. Double thumbs up!!

Evian Facial Spray – Review

Evian Facial Spray comes in a simple leak proof white bottle with a nozzle spray dispenser. The nozzle dispenses fine even mist which settles smoothly into the skin. I am always nitpicky about any facial spray or toner that comes in bottle with a nozzle dispenser. You don’t want to look like you dunked your face in water. Evian facial spray is formulated with a neutral 7.2 pH making it compatible for all skin types. It is hypo-allergenic and true to the claim it didn’t cause any skin reactions for me. I believe facial sprays should be a necessary and important part of your skincare routine. Just like our body requires water, it is always great to keep skin hydrated. Concocting a facial spray out of rose water is the cheapest. Evian however has brought us spring water right from the French Alps. Using Evian facial spray is nothing less than a spa experience and one that can happen on-the-go. I love that it is fragrance free. I constantly use it round the day – before serums to have them absorb better, keep my makeup fresh and natural throughout the day, post gym to tackle perspiration and in general whenever I feel like my skin needs a boost of hydration. However my favorite way to use Evian facial spray is to prep my skin before applying clay masks. I cannot say whether it makes the clay mask to perform better but I can totally vouch for the fact that I feel my skin looks much more hydrated and softer than when I don’t use it. There is no stretchy feel to the skin at all. Another bonus point is that it makes taking off the mask a breeze. You could definitely try this technique with other types of masks too.

Overall Evian Facial Spray is amazing and definitely a must have. It is very easy on the pocket and comes in 3 different sizes to cater to your preference.

Recommendation

Highly recommended for all skin types. Your skin would love the extra boost of hydration hot weather or not!

I think most of you would be familiar with beauty youtuber Kathleen Lights. A beautiful and bubbly beauty enthusiast, I love watching her videos. She launched her own line of nail polishes beginning of this month and I placed a pre-order when she announced on her instagram page. I have been testing them out since the past few weeks. This is going to be a picture overload post so sit back with a glass of wine and enjoy

This launch includes 6 beautiful shades that are vegan and cruelty free. The website says “5 – free” which i believe Kathleen mentioned means the formula is devoid of 5 chemicals that are found in other brands. I am not sure about this so please do not quote me on it

All the shades are very creamy and apply with a glossy finish. It has a fast drying formula. They are pretty pigmented but its not uniform across all shades. I’ll touch upon that in the individual take on the colors below. These stay great on the nails without any visible signs of chipping for up to 4 days on an average. However the glossy look lasts for only a day or two. I prefer the Covergirl Outlast formula as far as the glossiness goes. One notable feature is the brush, it has a curved fan shaped edge which adheres to the cuticle edge amazingly.

Zoey

A beautiful dusty pink shade that is very creamy and has a glossy finish. This is one of my favorites from the launch. I am pretty sure this is going to be a cult favorite and would suit all skin tones. Zoey is nicely pigmented and gives an opaque finish in 2 coats. It stayed well on my nails for about 5 days.

Caramello

This is my other favorite from the launch. It has a striking mustard yellow shade that is so unique. I haven’t ever come across a shade like this. I know China Glaze has one – Desert Sun? Caramello is very creamy and applies glossy. The pigment is pretty good and you get an opaque finish in 2 coats. This lasted on my nails for 4 days after which it started chipping from the tips.

Brick Sidewalk

Brick Sidewalk is rusty red shade – very creamy and applies glossy. The pigmentation is excellent and you get an opaque finish with 1 coat. This lasted on my nails for about 3 days. I think it would have definitely lasted a day or two more if I had gone with a second coat.

Snickerdoodle

This is a pale beige-y neutral shade that is creamy and applies glossy. The pigmentation is sub par, i had to go over with 3 coats to get an opaque finish. This started chipping after day 2 so obviously my least favorite.

Gumption

A brilliant creamy navy blue shade that applies glossy. Packed with pigment, you get an opaque finish in 2 coats. This lasted for about 5 days after which started chipping from the tips.

Broccoli & Chocolate

An nice creamy chocolate shade that applies glossy. You get opaque coverage in 2 coats. This stays well on the nails for about 4 days

Final Verdict

Overall, I like the formula but definitely not my favorite. I think with a good top coat, the glossy look could be extended. The shades are however the winning aspect. All the shades are beautiful and would compliment majority of the skin tones. These are priced at $8.5 which is neither cheap nor expensive. I’d highly recommend Zoey, Caramello & Brick Sidewalk. You will definitely love these colors

Exuviance Overnight Recovery Masque – Review

Exuviance Overnight Recovery Masque comes in a sturdy luxurious feeling glass jar packaging with an air tight lid. Jar packaging however puts serious damper on the hygiene factor. The mask has a watery-gel like consistency which absorbs into the skin quickly. It leaves behind a velvet-y smooth feel. This is more or less owing to the presence of dimethicone in the product which gives a silicone-sque feel to the skin, very primer like. Skin however instantly feels moisturized. I wake up with supple, soft and plumped skin which feels revitalized overnight. This masque is formulated with 4 key ingredients – an Anti-Pollution Complex that includes antioxidant Lilac Cell Culture Extract and PHA/Bionics which is supposed to help neutralize the effects of pollution and environmental damage such as free radicals and harmful metals that can break down collagen and prematurely age the look of skin. I have become quite picky about my skincare and am particular about incorporating products that has added anti-aging benefits. So this definitely is right up my alley but I would have preferred if it had additional anti-aging targeted ingredients as well. It also contains Prodew which refills deep reserves of natural skin moisture also known as NMF – Natural Moisturizing Factor, restoring a feeling of suppleness and comfort. Lastly PHA/Bionics and Evening Primrose Oil which strengthens skin’s protective barrier for a stronger, more resilient looking skin. I thoroughly enjoyed using this masque on my recent vacation. I had a hard time adjusting to the hot temperature and thanks to Exuviance Overnight Recovery Masque, I was able to maintain my skin without causing any major freak out. The presence of dimethicone might be pore clogging and thereby cause break outs. I usually get a few under the skin white bumps with dimethicone formulated skin care products but this mask did not cause me any such issues *touch wood*. Exuviance Overnight Recovery Masque is marketed as suitable for most skin types but I would highly recommend a sensitivity test especially for those with sensitive skin.

Overall, Exuviance Overnight Recovery Masque is a nice overnight treatment for skin that needs a pick-me-up. The masque is formulated with an intriguing list of ingredients which if it works for your skin will get it back on track overnight and is a great addition to the skincare routine. The presence of alcohol, dimethicone and fragrance might not be everyone’s cup of tea.

Glamglow is a relatively new but much acclaimed skin care line launched back in 2011. They are known for their excellent mud treatments that provide instant results. I am reviewing the Glamglow Powermud Dual Cleanse Treatment today. I picked up the 15ml travel size tub to get a feel of the product before investing $70 in the full sized tub. Glamglow treatments are pretty heavy on the pocket so it’s great they offer travel sized pots.

Glamglow Powermud Dual Cleanse Treatment – Review

Glamglow Powermud Dual Cleanse Treatment comes in a reflective lime green metallic tub. The travel sized tub offers about 4-5 uses worth of product. The mask has a thick consistency as it contains Brazilian white clay but the texture is lightweight which makes it easy to spread onto the skin. It has an off white greyish color and consists of quite a good of amount particles/bits that give an exfoliation. Glamglow Powermud Dual Cleanse Treatment is formulated with lots of oils like pear oil, pine oil, frankincense and myrrh oil. It is supposedly formulated for all skin types but the amount of fragrant oils and clay might not suit those with dry and/or sensitive skin. Personally I don’t like to use this on my skin during the colder weather as it feels quite drying. I have used up the entire tub but honestly speaking I wasn’t bowled over by this powermud treatment. It works like a mask which is left on the skin for about 10 minutes or until it dries. It is then taken off by wetting the mask and using circular motions will turn it into an oily consistency that works similar to a cleansing oil. This is what Glamglow means by their Mud to Oil Dual Cleanse Treatment.  It does cleanse the skin and makes it soft but that is something I get from my usual cleanser + mask routine. I have used the Glamglow Youthmud in the past and I had liked it so was hoping this would be in the same class. Glamglow has really impressive mask treatments in their line but Powermud is not something I’d recommend from personal experience.

This is similar to any illuminating cream or drops that you’d either mix with your makeup base for an all over glow and just add to the high points of your cheek bones for that subtle beautiful glow. The duo includes shades Rose & Champagne

Herbivore Blue Tansy Resurfacing Clarity Mask   –   $48

This brand is relatively new to me on Sephora. One of my besties suggested this to me and I picked it up. It is a clarifying and cooling gel mask infused with blue tansy, fruit enzymes, and white willow bark to gently exfoliate, smooth, and resurface the skin

Sol de Janeiro Brazilian 4 Play Moisturizing Shower Cream-Gel   –   $25

I have been wanting to try this brand out since forever but never got around to buying it. I had smelled this shower cream in the store a few weeks back and was instantly hooked onto it but they didn’t have any fresh bottle in stock. It smells like Caribbean – Pinacoladas, absolutely addicting. I cannot wait to try the Bumbum cream from this brand

I have been testing out the Diamond Professional Flat Iron from Irresistible Me the past couple of weeks. I already have an existing huge pile of hair tools and was debating whether I need another one to add to the stack.

The Diamond Professional Flat Iron is marketed as the next-generation, digital, SMART styling iron featuring unique DIAMOND Hi-Tech, which coats the floating ceramic plates with crushed diamond particles mixed with tourmaline. The diamond and tourmaline technology is supposed to protect your hair and keep all the natural hair oils, color and moisture in, leaving hair healthy, shiny and frizz free. The styling will last longer against air humidity and everyday stress. Priced at $149 (now at 30 % discounted rate of $104), this is definitely an expensive flat iron but is competitively priced with other bigwigs in the market. As far as the design goes, I am totally impressed with this flat iron. The switch placements inside prevents accidental settings change you might do had the buttons been outside. It has a cut off time of 30 minutes which is great if you tend to accidentally leave it on. The heating is super-fast and reaches the settings in about 10 – 15 seconds. There is tiny display screen located on the body outside. It is pretty light weight and overall is a breeze to use. The floating ceramic plates self-adjusts and glides smoothly through the hair giving ultra-smooth straight hair.

A little background on my hair, post hair wash my hair is basically frizzy with baby hairs poking everywhere once its air dried. It takes me not more than 10 minutes to make them look human with the Diamond Professional Flat Iron. I prefer a more natural look but for those of you who like poker straight hair, you could put in some more time and get a more defined hair look. The hair style stays put for the day under moderate humidity. It is easy to travel with and super quick to use if you need a quick fix for your mane.

Overall I am really impressed with the Diamond Professional Flat Iron and would definitely recommend it if you are someone who is looking for a quick straightening fix

Exfoliating Cleanser

The cleanser has a gel cream texture with lots of non-coarse particles infused. These are jojoba beads that act as physical exoliant. It also contains 10% glycolic acid that act chemical exfoliant. This cleanser is very similar to Murad AHA/BHA exfoliating cleanser except for the fragrance. The Hydropeptide exfoliating cleanser has a citrusy fragrance. This is an excellent cleanser for reviving dry lack lustre skin. It rids off all the dead skin cells leaving behind squeaky clean skin.

Pre Treatment Toner

This toner comes with lots of good things. I was completely taken in by the 5% lactic acid content. It is also infused with mulberry, licorice and Vitamin C. All these ingredients are known to reveal brighter even toned skin with use. This toner is very light weight and absorbs quickly into skin. It doesn’t leave behind any film.

Purifying mask

A very creamy thick mask that is easy to spread onto the skin. You only need a thin layer. It gives of an intense cooling and minty feel which I like. The tingly sensation is not uncomfortable but it isn’t a breeze either. This mask is packed with bentonite clay and natural clay which usually dries up the mask and creates a tight layer on the face. This mask however remains smooth and soft which I like. I removed the mask after 10 minutes using warm water and a wash cloth. This is easiest way to get rid off the product I feel. Post rinsing, my face looked so much brighter and smoother. This is one of the best clay masks that would work for all skin types – especially for those who shy away from clay masks because of the drying tendency. Definitely one of the star products from the set.

Eye authority

This is a very hydrating lightweight eye cream that instantly hydrates and soothes the eye contour. I haven’t seen any effects on dark circles. I feel it is too early to judge a product for this factor since it’s a sample size. But during long flight journeys or during travel in general I am more concerned about keeping my eye contour moisturized and soft. This cream does that

Face lift

This is a lightweight moisturizer that is adequately hydrating. It worked like a regular moisturizer for me and keeps skin quite hydrated. It is too early to judge it for the long term benefits like better elasticity, brightness and de – pigmentation. Looking at how well the other products in this line worked, I think with use, Hydropeptide Face lift would also come out as a winner.

Recommendation

This travel set a pretty cost effective and easy way to try out Hydropeptide line which is an expensive skin care brand. The cleanser, toner and mask are absolutely  wonderful and I’d totally recommend them.
