Here’s Chapter 16 of our study on the book “Traveling Light”

Topic:  The Burden of Envy

I think life is the same way. If we want to live a life that honors Christ, we must have the correct lens in place. What do I mean? When you are fouled in life…how do you react? When someone wants to be friends…do you let them? When life is storming are you panicked or calm? Tense or settled? Worried or whole? Who do you trust? How deep is your faith? Who gets top priority with your time and resources? One of the greatest things about being a Christ follower is that Jesus Himself has given us the lens through which to look at life.

Let’s take a look at this passage from Mark: “One of the teachers of religious law was standing there listening to the debate. He realized that Jesus had answered well, so he asked, “Of all the commandments, which is the most important?” “Jesus replied, “The most important commandment is this: ‘Listen, O Israel! The Lord our God is the one and only Lord. And you must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, all your mind, and all your strength.’ The second is equally important: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ No other commandment is greater than these.” Mark 12:28-31

In this passage, Jesus defines how we should see the world and handle every situation we find ourselves in… If we get angry…love the people. If we struggle with priority…put God first and the rest will settle itself out… Trust issues? Disappointment? Fear? Love, love, love. Love is the lens through which to decode humanity. If you ever find yourself in a situation where you don’t know what to do…break out that God-filter and put it to work. I promise you that when you see the world through compassion, mercy, humility, gratitude, forgiveness, and love…not only will your perception of people change… you will begin to understand how God sees you – a beautiful masterpiece.

Well it’s Monday morning and I am a bit tired from the weekend. What an amazing honor it was to teach with Pastor Troy this weekend…it is my prayer that what was said by both of us will help you when life fouls you… Also check out www.ivemissed.com (the series’ companion website). Here’s a few other things rattling around in my head (Warning: a bit more random than usual today)

1) Please pray for my brother and his wife and unborn child. The baby is 20 weeks old and has developed CCAM…a developmental disorder. In most cases, CCAM can be dealt with and the baby can be fine. Their case is so severe that the baby may not make it. They are seeing a one of the top doctors in the country today that specializes in this condition to determine what they can do.

2)  Also, please pray for my wife.  She is feeling sick today and I want her to feel better…

3)  Easter was amazing on the Internet Campus…. 3,406 computers connected…17 accepted Christ online…6 baptisms (drove in from Georgia and flew in from Mexico City)…11,216 E-vites sent… an AMAZING weekend!!!

4)  I am deciding whether or not to join D23 to become a charter member…thoughts?

5)  The WebChurch Podcast will soon be returning to tickle your ears with a blend of technology, Internet Campus, and more….

6)  We launched iKids a couple weeks ago…and it’s going very well.  It’s a 20 minute live show that allows parents and elementary aged children to interact and learn together.  The Children’s team here is incredible and their dedication to the finished product is solid.  We air the show at 4PM (ET) on our Internet Campus page www.frclive.tv

Today I had the opportunity to join the other Pastors outside at the baptistery to watch several people take the next step of obedience.   As the 11AM baptisms concluded, one young lady came up from the water and wanted to say something to the crowd.  While she was still dripping wet, she told all of us “If it wasn’t for the Internet Campus I would not be here today.”

My eyes instantly started to well-up with tears.

In just a few words, God reminded me why I do every single thing that I do.  People are finding, connecting with, and growing in Christ online.  They are coming to get baptized.  They are sharing their story with others in the forums.  They are praying for each other in the chat rooms.  REAL life change is happening…and I am blessed to be a small part of it.

There are so many people who slam the Internet Campus….they criticize…they ridicule…they quote scripture against it…they claim it isn’t “real”

All I know is that I hugged a grateful young lady today who had a very real encounter with the living Christ through her experiences online.

Next week she will watch from her laptop…sing along with the music…pray with Pastor Troy…hear a life-changing Easter message…and impact her community….and there will be thousands like her.

God is changing the world…one login at a time.
