Illustrator tutorial │ Make a glossy logo for your company or brand

In this tutorial we will know how to create a glossy logo in adobe illustrator. This is an intermediate tutorial of adobe illustrator. I have used many tools and palettes to create the vector art. So, if you are a beginner, I recommend you to read the "Illustrator beginner tutorials" first.

Make a glossy logo

The final vector art work; which you will be creating.

Project details:
Level : Intermediate
Estimated time: 20 minutes
Program used: Adobe illustrator cs6.
Document type: RGB
Minimum qualifications: Ability to use the pathfinder panel, transparency palette and the gradient palette.

Step 1: Create a rectangle with the rectangle tool and fill it with black color. You can fill with any dark color as your wish. Lock it (ctrl+2). It will be our logo background.

Step 2: Write your text what you want as your logo and fill it with any color. Go to "Type/create outlines". If you don't do this effects will not be applied properly. Make a copy of it for next time use.

Step 3: Now, we have to make the glossy part of our logo. Make a rectangle and move it to the text. Select both items and hit the "Divide" icon on the pathfinder palette. Ungroup the result and delete the unnecessary parts.

Step 4: Again group the cropped parts. Fill it with black to white linear gradient.

Step 5: Selecting the gradient object go to transparency palette and select "screen" blending mode. Lower the opacity to approximately 60%.

Finalizing vector art work

Your logo is ready. But you may not be satisfied with the color. Don't worry. Select the logo text and change the color as your wish. And finally you can make awesome glossy logos with this way.

In this tutorial we will know how to create a set of nice glowing button for web page design on adobe illustrator. This is an intermediate tutorial of adobe illustrator. I have used many tools and panels to create the vector art. So, if you are a beginner, I recommend you to read the "Illustrator beginner tutorials" first.

Make a set of glowing button:

The final vector art work; which you will be creating.

Project details:
Level : Intermediate
Estimated time: 20 minutes
Program used: Adobe illustrator cs6.
Document type: RGB
Minimum qualifications: Ability to use the gradient palette and the transparency palette.

Step 1: Take the rectangle tool and create a rectangle like this one.

Step 2: Selecting the rectangle go to "Effect/stylize/rounded corner" and follow the image below. You can change the value of radius if you wish. All we have to do is make a rounded rectangle.

Step 3: Now make two copies of the rounded rectangle. Reserve one for next time usage. Make another copy smaller and move it to the middle bottom corner.

Step 4: Fill it with a lighter color than the larger rectangle like this.

Step 5: Go to "Object/blend/blending option" and follow the image.

Now, Select the both object and go to "Object/blend/make". Your result will be like below.

Step 6: Now, take the another rectangle which you have copied first time. Lower the height and move to the top.

Step 7: Fill it with black to white linear gradient.

Step 8: Go to transparency palette and select "Screen" blending mode.

Here is your result.

Finalizing vector art work

You can lower the opacity to adjust the blending.

It will make the vector art more realistic and more professional.

Logo design with clipping mask

The clipping mask is a nice option on adobe illustrator. You are able to cut any object to any size or shapes even a raster image. In this tutorial we will see how to work with raster images and make a logo. Lets start our class!!

The final vector art work what you will be creating.

Program used: Adobe illustrator cs6.

Minimum qualifications: Using the pen tool, pathfinder panel and the gradient palette.

We need a jpeg image for making clipping mask as well as our work. You can use images with another format. I have used this image. Hit the download button. A new page will be appeared with this image. Right click on the image and click save to save it for work.

Step 1: First create a new document and place your image (file/place).

Step 2: Now, write your text on the placed image with any fill color. You can make the text bold for better result.

Step 3: Select both objects and go to "object/clipping mask/make". Your vector art will be like below. Not funny?

Finalizing vector art

The art work process is almost over. But we have to apply some effects to make the logo more professional.

Now, you can apply any effect such as 3d, drop shadow etc. I have applied inner glow to make the corner smooth.

Make a neon effect for logo design

Program used: Adobe illustrator cs6.

Minimum qualifications: Using the type tool and the transparency palette.

Step 1: Create a rectangle and fill it with dark color (ex:black). Now, lock it (ctrl+2).

Step 2: Write your text in front of the dark rectangle and fill it with light color. For example I have used color: #00ff00.

Step 3: Make a copy behind the text. (ctrl+c and ctrl+b). Go to object/path/offset path and enter the values.

Your work result will be like below.

Step 4: Now, selecting this text go to "effects/blur/gaussian blur" and follow the image.

Step 5: You can lower the opacity of the blurred text.

Step 6: Now, select the upper text and give an inner glow effect by going to "effect/stylize/inner glow". Set the value like the image or what fit best to your art work.
