Vectren launches new electric energy efficiency program

Vectren Energy Delivery (Vectren) recently launched to 75,000 of its electric customers a direct communication that analyzes customers’ bills and home characteristics to help determine how much energy their individual homes use compared to neighboring homes and those of similar size. In addition, customers also receive free and low-cost tips to help lower energy usage as part of the communication.

Commission approves lower fuel costs to help reduce electric bills

In an effort to alleviate cost pressures on electric bills, Vectren Energy Delivery (Vectren) and the Indiana Office of Utility Consumer Counselor (OUCC) have collaborated to accelerate lower coal costs in 2012 and 2013, an impact that will decrease typical residential electric bills by $6 to $8 per month effective in February. The proposal was approved this week by the Indiana Utility Regulatory Commission.

Vectren’s generation fleet well-positioned to comply with EPA requirements on mercury, other emissions

As expected, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) finalized more stringent rules last month via the Mercury and Air Toxics Standards (MATS), which regulates emissions of mercury and other pollutants. Given Vectren’s significant investment in emissions control equipment over the past decade, the utility is in a position to largely comply with MATS without significant additional investment.

Customers offered option of reporting electric outages online

This month, Vectren Energy Delivery (Vectren) added functionality to its web site, Vectren.com, that allows customers to report their electric outages online or via a smart phone as an additional option to calling the company’s contact center.
