Unfortunately for my parents I was also the type that loved to open up shiny things that I wasn’t supposed to touch to see how they worked. I can think of a few things that I wasn’t able to put back together. :-)

My parents wisely started keeping things out of my reach. Well, it shouldn’t come as a surprise that my daughter has inherited this trait now that I think of it most children are curious and naturally want to check out things their parents enjoy and my daughter knows I love my gadgets. She has already asked me when I’m going to hand my 17″ MacBook Pro over to her. Apple released and updated MacBook and MacBook Pro not too long ago, but as I told her they didn’t release a 17″ MacBook so she’ll have to wait a little longer before mommy makes the upgrade.

It’s not only the computer gadgets I like I also have numerous technical gadgets that I use on my computer. When I’m on the web I mainly use two internet browsers; Safari which is made by Apple. I’m a Mac lover remember and Firefox. I tend to use Firefox more because of all the cool addons that are available. I’ve found some of the best extensions for Firefox simply by searching the web. I recently signed up with Twitter and use Twitterfox to update my tweets.

Gadgets keep my websites running smoothly
Earlier today I logged onto my Google account to check my Adsense earnings and take a peek at how my traffic is doing for the websites I have. I currently have ten websites including an newbie were I write under another name. It’s a newbie and I’m testing out a lot of different things. I’ve added a podcast that includes audio and video. I use two video editing tools Apple’s Final Cut Express on my Mac and I recently tried out Blaze Media Pro on one of my Windows computer. I don’t like it as much as Final Cut but it still does an excellent job.

One of the things I usually pay added attention to when I create a new website is to see how long before it’s listed by Google. My fastest has been a little over a day. The longest took three days. Google has a lot of unique tools to help me keep tabs of my websites and one that I like that also happens to work with Firefox is the Google Cache Checker Firefox Extension.

Yep, I love my gadgets and my daughter’s biggest complaint is that have the coolest gadgets and I won’t let her play with most of them. Well that would be because I don’t want them to break.

It seems that I had gotten the times wrong. You see I’m also volunteering for her gym class which is in the morning, somehow I got the times mixed up. Bah, looks like I’m making three trips to her school today. I drive Aiyana to and from school each day.

Busy in the real world
I’ve been busy in the real world and at times it’s hard to take time to smell the roses, but I’m trying. Hoping things can slow down soon so I can take a break and do ore bog visits. I haven’t been doing them as much as I would like although I regularly catch up on everyone via my RSS feed.

Although the real world and other engagements have kept me mad busy it hasn’t stopped the websites I’ve monetized thus far this is the best month I’ve had and it’s only the first week. September 2008 was my best month and I have passed that. I don’t check out my stats as much as I used to perhaps I check every few weeks? However a quick search this morning showed what was driving people to my website was old content. Old news to me, but new news to someone looking for the information; health, nutrition, fitness, exercise, etc., things that I love writing and talking about.

What’s fabulous is that I didn’t have to stray away from topics I normally write about. I just write about what I love making money (health, fitness, nutrition) I wrote about all those things before they started making money for me. I enjoy helping others when I can. The money aspect is just an added bonus and it lets me keep working for myself.

I have to admit that it’s great to see that even if I don’t have time to write the content (and I truly love writing) what I have written is still searchable. I try to answer the emails I receive but i have to admit recently the amount I’ve received has been overwhelming so I’m trying to think of a way to handle it.

Responding to some questions on Vegan Momma is something I’ve mentioned before and it’s something I plan to implement in the near future but I still think I should do more…

I posted the video “Mo Money Mo Problems because I liked it and it featured artist that I like Puffy, Notorious BIG, and I was introduced to Mase. Tiger Woods was blowing up when this song was released, so yeah this was made a while ago. Big is gone but I can still listen to his music. Mo Money Mo Problems? It only becomes a problem if you let it.

It’s kind of cute actually, and I’m happy that she is having so much fun with her classmates and yes she does talk about other kids in the class but yeah I get a daily dose of “Steven”. ;-)

Aiyana describes him as the “blond boy with the blond skin”. I’ve met Steven and he is a sweet little boy with golden skin (he has a tan), so cute! :-)

So much has been going on in the real and yes the virtual world… Hopefully I’ll get around to posting it later this week. My daughter was hammered with sickness the past week. More on that and the natural remedies I used to combat it in a later post.

The past several weeks I’ve been buried in books studying for exams so my posting time has dwindled to nothing…sighs. The good news is I’m still maintaining my A+ average.

Hoping to catch up with my blog pals this week you have been missed.

Unfortunately, it won’t be available until December 4th. In the Harry Potter series, the book is mentioned, and I’ve always wished that I could read the fairy tales mentioned and now I can.

There are two versions the standard and the deluxe edition. Naturally, I’ve pre-ordered the deluxe edition. There are a lot of extra goodies included with the deluxe edition and I know The Tale of Beedle the Bard is something I’ll treasure just like my other books. The beauty of it is that the net proceeds for the deluxe and standard version go to the Children’s High Level Group. It’s a UK based charity founded by J.K. Rowling’s and MEP Baronness Emma Nicholson of Winterbourne that helps over one million children that live in large residential institutions.

Question: Any Harry Potter fans out there? Are you planning on getting this book?

I admit it; I’m a music junkie. I was a Peter Gabriel fan so naturally loved the song Big Time by him. My tastes in music are all over the place. Which isn’t a bad thing I refuse to be neatly tucked under one label.

I haven’t checked Google Adsense in several weeks; however, I logged in a few moments ago and noticed that thus far, my biggest month was August 2008. (I posted four times in that month.) Amazon, and affilate marketing did very well also.

September looks as if it will trump August not bad for someone that doesn’t have a whole lot of ads going on this website. Additionally I haven’t been posting that much lately just likely Michelle, freelance writer, of the extremely fabulous Writing the Cyber Highway I’ve been on a hiatus. It wasn’t planned it just sort of happened.

On Vegan Momma I have a mix of personal and business bloggers that leave comments an I truly appreciate them. I know some bloggers frown on business bloggers leaving comments on their blogs feeling that they are giving away free advertisement; however, I don’t see it that way as long as they are adding to the discussion it doesn’t bother me. I’ve met some great business bloggers and if I had blocked them I never would have met them. If you think about it even we (as personal bloggers) do it. The only difference is when we leave a comment and link to our blogs it’s going to a personal website not a business.

On my personal websites you won’t see me writing too much about making money online because that isn’t my style. I write about what I like which covers a variety of topics; Technology, gaming, nutrition, vegan cuisine, alternative healing (and yes I have websites that focus on every single one) If I happen to make money in the process that is fabulous but it’s not my #1 goal.

A few months ago I said I would start writing about what I eat as a Vegan and I haven’t forgotten about that I just haven’t been around to post what I’ve been doing although the posting won’t be daily I will be posting foods that I eat to maintain my healthy lifestyle. I rarely get sick. I’ll also list the reasons why I’m eating the foods.

I realize that not everyone is going to turn vegetarian or vegan and that is perfectly ok you can be healthy even if you aren’t you just have to make healthy choices. That’s extremely important and something I cannot stress enough. Change can be hard and its important to remember that when you are making lifestyle changes.

Lyrics
Peter Gabriel: Big Time

I’m on my way I’m making it, huh!
I’ve got to make it show yeah, hey!
So much larger than life
I’m gonna watch it growing
Hey hey hey heyyyyyyy

The place where I come from is a small town
They think so small, they use small words
But not me, I’m smarter than that,
I worked it out
I’ll be stretching my mouth to let those big words come right out
I’ve had enough, I’m getting out
to the city, the big big city
I’ll be a big noise with all the big boys, so much stuff I will own
And I will pray to a big god, as I kneel in the big church

Big time, I’m on my way I’m making it, big time, oh yes
Big time, I’ve got to make it show yeah, big time
Big time, so much larger than life
Big time, I’m gonna watch it growing, big time
Ho ohh ohh, oh oh, ho ohh ohh, oh ohhh

My parties have all the big names and I greet them with the widest smile
Tell them how my life is one big adventure
and always they’re amazed when I show them ’round my house to my bed
I had it made like a mountain rage with a snow white pillow for my big fat head
And my heaven will be a big heaven, and I will walk through the front door

Big Time, I’m on my way I’m making it, big time, Huh!
Big time, I’ve got to make it show yeah, big time
Big time, so much larger than life
Big time, I’m gonna watch it growing, big time
Big time, my car is getting bigger Big time, my house is getting bigger
Big time, my eyes are getting bigger
and my mouth
Big time, my belly’s getting bigger
Big time, and my bank account
Big time, look at my circumstance
Big time, and the bulge in my big big big big big big big big big big big big big big big, hi there

I started playing WOW early this year. Since the time I first logged into WOW it’s been an on again off again relationship. When I have time to immerse myself in the world of Azeroth I log onto WOW from my 17″ MacBook Pro.

Currently WOW is the largest MMORPG available boasting over ten million subscribers, now that’s impressive. The third expansion, Wrath of the Lich King November 13th, will be hitting stores on November 13th. With the addition of the second expansion, The Burning Crusade, leveling was raised from 60 to 70. Now with WOTLK leveling cap has been raised to 80. WOTLK is set in the icy continent of Northrend which is the northernmost continent in the world of Azeroth. I have to admit I am curious about it.

Blizzard is introducing a brand-new class in this expansion. A hero class known as Death Knights. Although it will be bringing a lot of amazing arsenal of damage dealing moves I’m not sure if I want to roll a Death Knight.

I have characters for both factions; Alliance and Horde. My first WOW character was a night elf hunter since that time I created a draenei fire mage, dwarf holy and blood elf destruction priest, orc warlock, and now I’m leveling a night elf druid. Leveling has been slow by my standards mainly because I don’t have the time to spend playing the game.

There is so much you can do in-game. Whether you are player vs. player (pvp) or player vs. environment (pve) options are available for you. Personally I prefer pvp I mainly do pve to level so you can usually find my toons (as soon as they are eligible) involved in battlegrounds at the higher levels. At the lower levels, you can usually find me battling it out in Arathi Basin and Warsong Gulch when I want to take a break from questing.

I’ve even created my own guild (Alliance side) and promptly invited some of my buddies who moved their toons to the guild. The guild is small, but we are a friendly bunch. We are all older (20’s - 40’s) and we all have priorities (family, work, you know life in general) so you won’t find us spending hours playing the game. We still have a blast, chat when we see the other in-game and occasionally we all hang out together in-game. Yep, good times. Some of the higher levels, like myself, will help out the lowbies whenever they need help with quests or the opposing faction ganking them. They just need to ask for help. Since we communicate outside of WOW occasionally they’ll ask via email.

Currently I’m not openly recruiting for the guild but eventually that will change don’t be surprised if I send out an invite on my blog. It would be cool to play with some of my blog buddies in game.

Adorable faces, the bushy tails… Okay I can do without their annoying chatter at times but overall what’s not to love about them?

The past few months they have been a nuisance. You see, we have fruit trees in our yard; apple, peach, pear, and mulberry trees. Well guess what? The squirrels decided they like them also. Don’t you know those squirrels have carried almost every single one of the fruits off the trees! Humph! You would think they would share, right? But oh no, they scurry up the trees chattering madly (most likely laughing at the silly human who is doing nothing about it.) Hardly any of the fruit remains on the trees. I’m not special, my neighbors have been facing the same issue. Interestingly enough we haven’t seen this behavior from the little rascals in prior years, well not too this extent!

Actually, I chuckle when I see squirrels running away with a big pear clamped firmly in their mouths. Oh yeah it is hil-ar-i-ous! But, dang it I want some pears too! My grapevine received a similar demise but this time from the deers while they usually wait for the grapes to bear fruit this year they started eating the vines before the fruit appeared! Next year my vine will be enclosed so they cannot get to them. Don’t get me started on the groundhogs… ;-)

Overall I cannot complain the garden did very well this year, and we’ve had our share of fresh vegetables (collards, tomatoes, squash, kale, corn, peas, onions, beans, broccoli, strawberries, blackberries, etc.) straight from the garden. In other news, our chestnut tree is bearing nuts. (clicking on the link will take you to pictures of last years chestnuts. Guess who has already started snacking on those? If you guessed “the squirrels” I’ll bake you a whole food vegan meal with all the trimmings.

Question: Any adorable creatures wreaking havoc in your area?

That’s a question I ask my daughter when I pick her up from school each day. Her reply is usually, “pancakes”. Aiyana has been on a pancake kick since she stared school a few weeks ago and it usually makes its way nestled alongside fresh fruit on her breakfast plate.

I make a variety of pancakes; strawberry pancakes, banana & cinnamon pancakes, apple & nutmeg, peach pancakes. Although she loves them all at the moment her favorite are the banana pancakes. I’m starting to take photos of the foods I prepare so will start adding them to a few of my websites.

What do I like for breakfast? I usually drink a smoothie. It is refreshing, filling, and perfect since it’s my meal in a cup.

Question: What do you like eating for breakfast?

I love dancing and its something I do daily. I stumbled upon this earlier today. It’s a sweet mashup of the Charleston and modern music. It makes me wonder what my daughter will mashup when she gets older? Michael Jackson, Ne-Yo, Tupac, Justin Timberlake. I’m a huge Daft Punk fan so naturally I was loving seeing this classic set to one of my favorite groups.

It’s amazing the things you can do with video editing software. I mainly use Final Cut Pro and Final Cut Express, both Apple products, and I’ve made some fairly impressive videos. Most of them revolve around my daughter but I’ve also created short movies and a few documentaries.

The dance they are doing is the Charleston. The Charleston dance was named after the city Charleston, South Carolina. I believe this particular video was filmed in the 1950’s at the Savoy Ballroom which is located in Harlem New York City.

The video below is one of my favorite mash ups of these two dancers.

For those unfamiliar with the two dancers they are Al Minns and Leon James. I wasn’t even born when they were in the spotlight but I still enjoy watching videos featuring both of these talented dancers.
