VELOCITY 2024
June 22 - 27TH

For more than 30 years we've been getting together to organize a camp that only exists for one week each year. We rent out facilities at a university and bring in an incredible band, gifted speakers, and our friends from across the Midwest and upper East Coast.

We would love to have your church join us this year!

About Velocity

WHERE:
Velocity takes place at Tiffin University in Tiffin Ohio. We stay in the (air conditioned) university dorms, eat in their excellent cafeteria, and use their top-notch athletic facilities for games, free time, and activities. Velocity has utilized a number of different facilities over the years, but we've been at Tiffin University since 2018.
WHO:
We are a group of about 10 churches from Ohio, Michigan, Illinois, and the surrounding areas. We come from many different backgrounds (Baptist, Grace Brethren, Evangelical, Non-Denominational, and more) but we lay down our differences to focus on the things we share in common. Our shared love for Jesus, His Word, and His Body - The Church - binds us together in unity.
WHAT:
Here's what you can expect each day: two sessions with worship and teaching, big group games, free time activities (Community Pool, Crafts, Open Gym, 9-Square, etc.), breakout session, small group time, late night options (Sport Tournaments, Silent Disco, Trivia Night, Open Gym, Pizza!) and of course three delicious meals provided by the university. The cafeteria has surprisingly great food and there are always at least 3 or 4 options per meal. One of the highlights of the week is always the "Battle of Helm's Deep" where campers wage war with pool noodles, water balloons, and cornstarch bombs in a giant game of capture the flag.
WHY:
For over 30 years we've been getting together to run our own camp for one week each summer. Throughout the years we've hosted camp at different Bible Camps and college/university campuses. On our own, none of our individual churches could host a camp with this level of quality. Not just the quality of the facilities, activities, teaching, and worship, but also the quality and depth of the relationships that have been built between our churches and individuals throughout the years.

COST:
We pride ourselves in being able to host an incredible camp for a price that is often significantly lower than other summer camps. Our cost-per-student is typically in the low $300s.

WHEN:
June 22 - 27th, 2024.

WHAT DO WE BELIEVE?

Velocity is put on by the Great Lakes Youth Collective, which is a group of churches from the Midwest from a variety of denominations and affiliations. There is much diversity in the practice and theology within The Global Church, but we come together around these core beliefs:

God
We believe in one true God, eternally existing in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit (Deuteronomy 6:4, Matthew 28:19). Each person is fully God, yet they are one God (John 10:30).

The Bible
We believe the Bible is the inspired Word of God, inerrant in its original writings, and the supreme authority for our faith and practice (2 Timothy 3:16, 2 Peter 1:21).

Creation
We believe God created the heavens and the earth by His sovereign word, all good and very good (Genesis 1:1, Colossians 1:16).

Humanity
We believe humans were created in God's image, sinless and with free will, but they rebelled against God, bringing sin and death into the world (Genesis 1:27, Romans 5:12).

Salvation
We believe salvation is by grace alone, through faith alone in Jesus Christ, His atoning death on the cross, and His resurrection. Good works are the fruit of salvation, but not a means to earn it (Ephesians 2:8-9, Romans 3:23-25).

Church
We believe the Church is the body of Christ, composed of all who have placed their faith in Him (1 Corinthians 12:13). We are called to live out our faith in community, practicing baptism and communion as outward signs of inward grace (Matthew 28:19, 1 Corinthians 11:23-26).

Second Coming
We believe in the bodily return of Jesus Christ to judge the living and the dead and to establish His eternal kingdom (Acts 1:11, Revelation 20:11-15).
