Loreto is a small town on the Cortes sea, Baja California, Mexico, and was the first Spanish settlement on the Baja California Peninsula. It is a great place to stop off on a road trip through baja and features a little bit of Spanish colonial architecture, and a generally charming atmosphere.

Yukatas at the Gion Matsuri Festival, Kyoto

The Gion Matsuri is a festival that's held in Kyoto and takes place for the whole of July. If you're in the area at this time of year you're likely to see many people in traditional dress, street performances and many temples elaborately decorated and lit. Its a great time for photography! The girls here are dressed in the yukata or "summer kimono"

I'm heading back to Japan this Sunday, quite a lot earlier in the year than last time and going along to the CP+ Camera and Imaging Show in Yokohama, where I'm hoping to be able to get a decent look at some of this years emerging cameras such as the soon-to-be-reeased Olympus OM-DM. Apart from that I'll be aiming to get to the snow, and then stay on for the cherry blossom festival.

Along the way I'll be keeping my new travel blog updated which hasn't seen too much content while I've been at home.

Temple of Karnak, Luxor, Egypt

The Temple of Karnak is apparently the second most visited historical site in Egypt after the Pyramids of Giza.

Its a huge complex with architectural features that are on a gigantic scale. Sometimes you need a point of reference in a photo to gauge just how big these things are!

Melbourne in Timelapse

Islands on the Bazaruto Archipelago, Vilankulo, Mozambique

Vilankulo (or Vilanculos) is a coastal town in Mozambique which is most notable for its proximity to the the Bazaruto Archipelago. Its a great place to spend some time if you like white sand beaches, islands, diving, or eating lots of seafood and coconuts!

Melbourne City in Gold

The best views of Melbourne are from the tallest building in the southern hemisphere - the Eureka tower. One of the downsides to shooting from here is that the building is plated with gold-colored glass. During the daytime it made balancing the color quite difficult, but at night, its all very pretty!

In other news, I posted an article about a recent UK copyright case on another site that I'm developing: Travel Photography Review. My aim with this is to put any articles about travel photography and tutorials in one place that's a bit easier to manage, and much easier to find content on!
