Wake at 6, nurse, mobile, talk to Grandma Sue–he really responded to her today, smiling back at her when she smiled a few times! Very cool.
9:15: nurse
11:00: nap (in full swaddle)
2:00: wake and nurse
3:45: nap (tried at 3:20, but he wasn’t ready…fussed, I went in, rocked him he spit up, then I sang for a bit, put him back down, and he’s out.
4:45: off to birthday dinner — Emma’s babysitting

Seems he had a growth spurt, with his nursing so long for the past few days, now is back to normal 10-15 per side.

Wake-up 6am

Eat 6:05am

Ate alot! nearly 15 minutes per side, not much spit-up either.

Activity 7-9:30am

There was an attempted nap and a cat-nap in that time, but…here’s what else we did: talk to grandma Sue, sit in Bumbo, standing time, sitting time, attempted napping around 7:30, but no interest, so we had a diaper change and went for a walk in the stroller around 8:30-9. He fell asleep while on the way back. Let him sleep until about 9:30 (in the stroller, while I showered), then feeding time…

Eat 9:25am

15 and 10, or so. Paused on second side after only a couple minutes, and I’m so proud that I correctly diagnosed the reason: a burp was needed! So proud. Good mom moment. Back to happily eating for a bit longer.

Activity 9:50-10:25am

Storytime. Read about fuzzy animals, the board book that has a little rhyming story and fur of each animal for touching. Today Alex opened his hands a little to touch the fur (with my help, but normally he keeps a fist). We also read a story called “Do Kangaroos Have Mothers, Too?” That one was fun. Then I tried to put him to sleep again, almost 10:30, and he seemed tired, went down easily. But then, not so much. There was fussing for about half an hour and he fell asleep sometime after 11. Trying to get him on a two-nap-a-day schedule.

Nap 11ish-1:15

Eat 1:30pm

Distracted when Andrew called on cell while nursing, then screamed hello when I put the phone to his ear for Andrew to say hi. Very cute! Then continued to eat well. I measured him beforehand…length approx. 60-61cm (24in), head circ about 40cm.

Activity

We made bread. Having French Onion Soup for dinner, so made more French bread to go with, and Alex watched me make the dough. He was not very interested. He mostly drooled and looked bored. So then we played in the floor doing the rollovers that we learned at swim class–he lies on his back and I help him roll over by gently pulling his arm across his body and over, then tap his leg or foot to get him to kick on over to his tummy. He did really well and seemed to like it, or at least not hate it. This meant we also got some tummy time in. He got very tired, so after a diaper change, I tucked him in and off he went to dreamland.

Mobile time while mommy finishes varies tasks.

Activity 5:15-6pm

Watch fans in living room, walk around with mommy, bathtime and singing with daddy until bedtime. Extreme fussiness at bedtime. Did not enjoy laying down to get dressed after the bath or being put down at all after that. Andrew rocked him and sang to soothe him, then eventually put him in his crib, where Alex fussed for a minute, then fell asleep.

So far so good today.
Wake: 6:00

Alex ate 20 minutes on one side twice today and only like 6 on the other. He was also really, really, really fussy on that other side, like I was trying to feed him turpentine or something.

He had a decent nap this morning about 7:15-9. Shortened his big nap to only about an hour, though I let him try to get back to sleep for longer. We managed to squeeze out maybe 1.5 hours. Then playtime, then eat again, then naptime again from about 1:30-4. I guess that was a good nap. Then still super fussy at his next feeding.

Maybe it’s an allergy to something I ate? Maybe his rash does itch or hurt (a little red irritation on his face, seems to get “inflamed” after he eats, also a few specks of red dots in random places on his body–a few on the belly, bottom, leg creases, and today a few on his wee-wee). Or maybe he is teething. Or maybe just growing. Ug. Wish I knew if there were something I could do…

6:00 – Awake when A went into Alex’s room
6:10 – Feeding time. Then awake, some mobile, some standing, talk to Aunt Cher on video.
7:30 – Nap time. Yawning, but not happy when put down. Cried for about 5 minutes–mommy had to go to the bathroom, so left Alex to calm himself, which he did. He was awake and calm when I returned, I snuck a peek, but I’m sure he’s asleep now (7:45).
8:45 – Stirring.
9:00 – Feeding time. Ate well, 10 min per side. Good burps. Minor spitting.
Activity – took Alex out in the carrier for a little walk, then had some tummy time.
10:15 – Fussing and back to bed for nap. Still a few peeps around 10:30.
12:45 – Alex awake.
1:00 – Feeding time. After eating, we played a new game: the standing up and laying down game. I would gently pull Alex up with his arms to standing, then stand for a few minutes, then “fall” down. It was fun. Then we had a little tummy time, too. Then he was tired.
2:00 – Nap time.
3:15 – wake Alex, change him.
3:30 – Departure for consulate’s Loy Krathong party.
