Great sports bars in Durham.

It’s a great time of the year if you love sports. Basketball season is in full swing and the Super Bowl is around the corner!. One of my favorite things to do this time of the year is to go out to great sports bars and watch the best games with some good friends. Here are some of the best sports bars to check out in Durham if you are looking for a fun time!

Four Corners

175 E. Franklin Street , Chapel Hill (919) 968-3809

Four Corners is a Franklin Street bar that’s sure to be full on Carolina game days (Blue Devils fans beware!). It offers an extensive menu that includes burgers, homemade BBQ, steaks, salads and lots of fried appetizers and entrees, and a surprising amount of South American/Cuban-style food. A full drink menu includes beer and spirits of all kinds.

Time Out Sports Bar

1301 N Fordham Blvd, Chapel Hill (in the Holiday Inn) (919)918- 1081

Time Out Sports Bar is brought to you by the same folks who own Time Out Chicken, the (iconic? notorious?)24 hour take-out place on Franklin Street. However, Time Out Sports Bar has a menu that centers on typical sports bar food, like wings and burgers, instead of the Southern food and 24-hour-a-day breakfast that Time Out Chicken serves.

Time Out Sports Bar has 17 televisions, always tuned to sports, and has both smoking and non-smoking areas.

Shula’s 347 Grill

Sheraton Chapel Hill Hotel One Europa Drive , Chapel Hill , NC 1-877-SHULA-347

Shula’s is another sports-centric chain establishment in Chapel Hill, but has a much more upscale feel to it than most of Chapel Hill ‘s other sports bars. In fact, although it has tons of televisions tuned to the game and a great bar, it probably should be called a sports-friendly bistro (or some such thing), not a “sports bar”. However, since it’s a great place to get a drink and watch the game, I’m including it in this list. In any case, I’m pretty sure Shula’s 347 Grill’s wine and martini list is the biggest one at any Chapel Hill “sports bar”.

Delicious Mexican dishes all around town!

What’s your favorite kind of food? Mine is Mexican food! I can’t get enough of the salsa, chips, queso, burritos, tacos, quesadillas, and more! The great thing is that Durham has a ton of delicious Mexican restaurants! Here are some of the best around town!

I love this time of the year. Basketball is in full swing and the amazing football season is coming to an exciting close! It’s a great time of the year to be a sports fan. However, anytime of the year is a great time to be a sports fan if you live in Durham, North Carolina. There are a plethora of spectacular sporting events to attend in Durham throughout the year. No matter if you like baseball, basketball, or anything else, there is something for every kind of sports fan! Here is some more information on the great sporting events in Durham, courtesy of City Town Info:

For baseball fans, Durham has the Duke University Blue Devils, which play from February to May. The Durham Bulls baseball club is a popular minor league team that plays in Durham Bulls Athletic Park, which was designed by the architects of Baltimore’s Camden Yards. Durham Bulls Athletic Park is also home to the USA Olympic Baseball Team and other national teams. For Basketball, there’s the Duke University Blue Devils and the North Carolina Central University Eagles team, which play in Division I and Division II, respectively. For football fans, the Blue Devils and the Eagles both deliver, and football can be seen at both O’Kelly-Riddick Stadium and Wallace Wade Stadium. The city also has Duke University LaCrosse, Crystal Downs Polo, and soccer at Kosken Stadium and Wallace Wade Stadium.

The living room in your apartment is one of the most important rooms in your home. It is where you spend most of your time and where you entertain guests. Since it is so important, it is vital to be sure that you have it decorated properly. It can be tough to figure out exactly how to decorate your living room, so here are some great tips courtesy of Made Manuel:

1. Rug Find a rug that really ties the room together, dude. They come in every size and design imaginable.  You can pick a rug or a set of colors and use a rug to balance it all.
2. Coffee Table Pick a coffee table you like and build around it. You can pick an Asian style table or an old fashioned oak one and open up dozens of different ideas. What’s on the coffee table is another way to tie a room together.
3. Bookcase Books are a window to the soul. What you read plays a big part in who you are and they always deserve center stage. Focusing around a bookcase doesn’t have to be a staunchly traditional look either; you can find all kinds of bookcases in many places in shapes you would never have figured could actually hold books.
4. Couch The original. You can get a nice, fancy looking couch but it tends to defeat the purpose when you can’t sit on it. The couch is the most common item used to decorate a living room and to base the decorating theme around. It’s a good choice if you don’t want a bunch of smaller items cluttering the room.
5. Chair The second most common item used to decorate a living room. There are just as many kinds of chairs as there are couches, lamps, and rugs. Find a luxury recliner or an edgy modern make that you can create a room around.
6. Color Pick your favorite color, paint the walls, find a couch, a rug, curtains, anything you want and work your living room around that. Just make sure you’re no using too much of one color and that your colors match.

Durham is a city full of amazing places to go, things to do, and sights to see! However, sometimes it can be hard to figure out exactly what to do in Durham because there is so much going on around town. Well, here are 3 great things to do in Durham, courtesy of about.com:

The Durham Bulls

The Durham Bulls are Durham,NC’s AAA minor league baseball team, currently affiliated with the Tampa Bay Devil Rays. This family-friendly activity is tons of fun and a great way to while away the hours with the boys of summer.

Streets at Southpoint Mall

The Streets of Southpoint Mall is a regional shopping destination anchored by top notch national retailers like Nordstrom, Crate & Barrel, Pottery Barn, Restoration Hardware and more. Restaurants include California Pizza Kitchen and Cheesecake Factory. There’s a P.F. Chang’s in the adjacent shopping area across the street.

Bill Cosby’s next book, I Didn’t Ask to Be Born, But I’m Glad I Was, will be released by the Hachette Book Group in November. Cosby talks about the Bible, being a grandfather and his first love in his humorous and insightful manner.

Cosby has received the Kennedy Center Honors, the Presidential Medal of Freedom (America’s highest civilian honor), the Mark Twain Prize for American Humor and the Marian Anderson Award.

Cosby’s been busy raising a family, too. He married the former Camille Hanks on January 25, 1964, while she was still a student at the University of Maryland. Repaving is underway in Durham.

Do you know what I can’t stand? When I am driving taking a trip and I drive through a town that has horrible roads. Roads with potholes and cracks can do a lot of damage to your vehicle. They can hurt your alignment, tires, and your car in general. That is something I really don’t want to have to deal with. Luckily for residents of Durham, the city cares about our roads!

The City of Durham is currently working to smooth out Durham Streets with Operation Greenlight. Operation Greenlight  is the city’s operation to repave 250 miles of streets in the city. They have already smoothed out 100 miles of streets and expect to have all of the roads in Durham improved by the end of 2012!

So let your mind rest knowing that the city has the safety of it’s residents and their cars constantly on their mind!
