Here is part 2 of my vintage inspired shoot with San Laurent Hair Artistry. We poured over a certain movie star’s photos on pinterest and books – can you guess who?

Again, I played with different coloring and b&w options depending on the photo.

So much to consider, besides the obvious style. Including lighting, classic posing & this particular star’s “feel” in most all her portraits throughout her career. She was always sexy and rarely playful. Any idea who yet? Have a look, you’ll figure it out…

San Laurent & A Little Vintage Inspiration ~ Part 1

Winter time is typically a slower shooting time for most photographers so I like to keep my creative juices flowing by shooting things I don’t typically have time for at other points of the year. Fun things -with fun people-a must!

Here is part one of a little shoot I did with the ladies of San Laurent Hair Artistry. We aimed to incorporate a little classic vintage with a modern feel. Hair & make-up by the talented Lauren Stratford. Lauren is always game for some inspiring fun and her talents never disappoint.

I played around with different black & white looks, depending on the feel of the photo… I hope you like what I came up with…

Senior in Newport ~ My Lovely Niece!

This is my favorite senior shoot I’ve ever done, cause , well, it’s my beautiful niece and we had us a beautiful, fun day together in Newport! She is the first born grandchild in my family and she has made us all adore her from day one. I still remember the first time I saw her at my brother’s house. She was the prettiest newborn I’d ever seen and I was completely smitten. When she was little, before she started school and before I had my own children, we spent a lot of time together. Sleepovers, mall trips, playing, dancing, watching Barney and trips to the park. She was the funniest kid and you never knew what would come out of her mouth! HA! She always had gusto and was never afraid to speak her mind.

I still remember when she learned to walk, when she learned to sing-(she loved to sing!), her art projects, and how she always seemed older than she was. My favorite thing about her from back then and to this day is how she loves. And even though she has been through some hard times in her young life, she still has a heart of gold.

I was so excited for her senior shoot. I bugged her about it for most of her junior year cause I couldn’t wait. We finally picked a date and went shopping, had her hair & make-up done and headed to Newport. You’ll see how fun she is. It was great photographing her because she is free to be herself at all moments and she is adorable being so.

So here’s my lovely niece, first baby in my family to grab onto my heart…

Sugar & Spice… ~ Newborn

Sugar and spice and everything nice, that’s what girls are made of. This lucky family has 3x that fortune. Come check out this sweetie new girl and her beautiful loving big sisters.

If you are wondering, newborn shoots I like to do in the family’s home, first thing in the morning. Makes for a happier, relaxed baby which equals to a happier, relaxed Mom. There’s something about capturing a new baby in the family home that is comforting and tugs at the heartstrings because that is where most of the first year’s memories are made. As a parent, you will look back at those pictures and remember not just with your mind but with your heart.

For this shot, first we made sure the sisters could sit still enough…

And even though they were quite giggly, they did not move!

But just to make sure, Mom was right there, off camera, holding the baby from the back… safety first, always!

Realized tonight that I never blogged about this cute maternity session from last summer. I realized it when I was thinking about blogging this baby’s recent 6 month session. A bit behind schedule? Always when it comes to blogging, but never too late, right?

Marissa & James ~ Engagement Shoot

Marissa & James! What can I say? They are fun, creative, skilled, sexy and up for anything! I love couples that come to me with ideas of what they want. Marissa & James are all about their cars and trucks and wanted to incorporate them into their engagement shoot. We shot at the garage where James works one afternoon last summer and had so much fun we went into the evening hours which meant I got to play with some creative off-camera lighting. Because of it, we got some great shots that I don’t normally get a chance to get… be sure to scroll all the way down to see those!
