I was noticing how it seemed like a mix of all the previous movies to create something completely new. Like, for instance, the cadaver in a body bag being pulled in a hallway, or the micro naps, or the claw hand in the tub, and more. Now that's not bad; I actually really liked recognizing my favorite parts from some of the older movies in there. What really surprised me is how it set it up to make Freddy look innocent this time around and then a shocking revelation. Nope. He's still a sick, twisted, lost soul with a dark side. It may have given a whole new angle if he were innocent I think but it's fine the way it is too. It's definitely darker this time around. Freddy doesn't seem to be in a joking mood now. It could have used some more fantasy in a new style or some more barbaric gore, but it wasn't made to be a total gross-out fest. It's a horror movie made for the mainstream. I don't mind that but it could have been grosser. I like the creepiness factor of this one going way up. It wasn't too creepy and maybe it could have been a tad creepier. All in all, though, I'd say Freddy came back without remorse. The ending sets it up.
DEATHZ HEAD A.K.A. Ranting is what I do here on this site so why not. I thought this movie was pure genius. It was so far ahead of any other horror ideas out there that it may have been ahead of its time possibly. And that's a good thing. Thing is though, that usually means you might not get as much recognition as you'd like. Did this movie do well? I don't know. The creature itself is a total abomination against nature in every way. They used the DNA of almost every living animal and mixed it all together to create this weird psycho experiment. How naive scientists can be. It starts out looking like a rabbit with a rodent head almost and then it changes into a girl with hoofed legs and a line down the middle of her head. At this point you have to ask yourself: "What the hell did I just create?" but nobody asks that vital question. As the movie progresses it seems very realistic in how it would possibly really play out in real life. You trust your creation. You sympathize with it. You relate to it. You become family. But things go horribly wrong. The ending sets it up perfectly for a sequel too. Typical corporate evil plots secretly. I loved everything about this movie really. Coming down with a case of "Pandorum". You either love this movie or you aren't a true sci-fi horror fan. Upon revisiting this movie I came up with some different opinions. For one, hyper sleep is a really bad idea. Everything is a really bad idea in the beginning, until they supposedly perfect the technology, while human experiments suffer. Pandorum can best be described as a madness you get from being in hypersleep too long. The mind can't handle it and you go mad with all that loneliness in your head for too long. Two, this movie gives nothing away. It has the perfect suspense and horror mix with those mutants popping up halfway through. It really throws you for a loop. You're wondering at this point if people devolved or if aliens got on board. And why would they devolve? It makes you ask all those questions. You have no idea where they are and that's the craziest part, when you realize where they really are it shows you how far madness can take you out of sheer panic. They had no reason to panic but without knowing their location they were driven to the brink. And they were slowly turning into those things! How crazy is that!
DEATHZ HEAD A.K.A. It is actually a remake of an older original that was also cool. You can't even compare the two so they both work equally. And then they had a trilogy, which was well received by Pulse groupies like me. It's sort of a small phenomenon that only people like us knew about when trolling the video stores. The first in the trilogy was awesome in every way. The other two, while building on the mythos, just had a harder time living up to the first and best one. It wasn't cheesy like I thought it would be. You see if the dead found a way to communicate through electrical energy then they could theoretically come back from some void, if you will. The idea is a lot of people don't go to heaven or hell; they just roam around forever in a limbo of sorts. If their magnetic energy was able to live on in another plane of existence, like a photo negative of a living human being. Scientifically, this is possible if you don't look at ghosts as supernatural. If supernatural ghosts are your bag then you may like other ghost stories more. I liked this one a lot though for that realistic difference. The movie escalated to apocalyptic proportions by the end and pleased many. I remember a plane crashing and stuff. It gets really insane.
DEATHZ HEAD A.K.A. It's not really for drama lovers or people looking for a spanning, epic story. The inhabitants of an insane asylum all dream of better things and being free. They don't seem 'too insane' dare I say. Back in the time frame of this movie people were deemed insane for simply ridiculous reasons. Simple depression could be mistaken for a mental problem. A girl with a vivid imagination could seem troubled although she may have made the world to escape her reality, being her cruel parents that locked her up. It takes a lot more now to get someone locked up and rightly so. This movie is all kinds of flashy and chock full of effects. It's ironic that we never get to see Emily Browning's character dance as every time she starts to they cut to her wild imagination. Inventive use of film though, because for all we know she may not have been able to dance very well. You'll never know. The steampunk world in her head is so detailed and outlandish that it puts any others to shame. It's full of giant samurai warrior ghosts, undead enemy troops, mechs, and even a dragon. Pretty cool when you think about it. Maybe it helps to show that sometimes a world to escape to can give us the strength to try for something, if not a literal world. The ending was kinda bittersweet but I definitely approve of this one.
DEATHZ HEAD A.K.A. That really makes me wonder what the future will be like but I think the lesson is to make the most of the time you're in because no matter what era you live in things change fast. They might even change faster and faster in the future for all we know. It seems nothing lasts for a decade anymore, except "The X-Files" show. No technology or website will be relevant in a decade. It's kind of jarring. I imagine there will be a Facebook replacement by the end of the decade and where does that leave us? I understand things change over time but do things really have to be replaced all the time? Why not just improve what was before. Myspace came back but they don't have pages for movies or organizations like Facebook; it's only for music now. I liked the Myspace radio they had before and now it's nothing like that. You can't organize your likes or even show likes of any kind on Myspace so now it looks better but it has less functionality. If you could combine Facebook and the new Myspace and create something better than both that would please me. Tumblr has taken things to the next level with the ability to make a mosaic of pictures on a wall covering the screen. I like how they have a sort of search engine feel for subjects and people are encouraged to like other people's pictures even if they don't know them. On Facebook it's only you, your few, scant friends, family, and some teachers. On Myspace everyone is still kind of too mesmorized by Facebook to know what to think. The only problem with Tumblr is you can't filter out adult material or keep adult pages from liking things on your page. If they had a better heuristic then they could solve this. They don't even warn you when you're about to enter an adult page. If they fix that then I think it would be great, though they do have a lot of reports of pages disappearing over B.S. claims of copyright infringement, which is just not true. Blogging has never been about claiming to own a picture. It's sharing and recommending of products or news. They also have a worse case with tearing down adult pages that may accidentally do something they don't like; next thing you know your page is gone and they don't tell you anything. Customer service on all three is non-existent thanks to the death of emailing a site or posting an address, which was the way we used to differentiate between fraud sites and real ones in the past. Now we have no idea where Facebook or Youtube or Tumblr are located and you can't reach them. So for all we know David Karp could be a fictitious person because with the death of liberty we only know what they want us to see on the net. I could make a great social site. If only I had the dough. The problem is with the rise of too many regulations enforced after attacks on U.S. soil now all the wrong people have power. The power to make a site disappear, to keep us from protesting, to keep job growth down by inhibiting oil companies from making more money. Oil is the main resource after all and if you stifle the oil companies with too many regulations then that means less gas, less oil for cars, less transporting of goods, and less jobs. Regulations are not always meant to be for the better. Spying of U.S. citizens, drones able to target U.S. criminals; it all stems from regulations. We have seen the death of 'forms' of free speech, if not all. And I predict, with Facebook only allowing you to like 5,000 things at most that there will be a successor someday. I wish things would last but I have a theory. GMO bills to label food didn't get passed because of fast food companies and I think we're speeding up how fast things get made in order to keep the economy going, much like China building huge, empty cities. As a result our T.V. viewing sees more cancellations due to rapid idea growth to spurn more consumerism. We should be careful and hopefully something lasts for a while.
DEATHZ HEAD A.K.A. Starting things off after the remodel of my site means coming up with something good. And this is good indeed. The 4th installment in the vampire series by John G. Rees is here! "Out Of Stone" is one grand and gothic achievement. His style is very dark and unrelenting. He knows no bounds and fears no authority. As a reviewer I've had the chance to have his works sent to me and I have grown to love his style. He's taught me a lot about sentence structure along the way. My grammar technique has changed after reading his works. I am forever changed. In this story a new character takes precedence. A girl, Sechra, was a young character in a previous outing in the series. Now older, she becomes the main protagonist propelling the events in this book. I really felt a lot of pain and anger in this work and it made me understand what an escape or release it could be. You can set your mind free and unleash the bloodiest hell on paper. His style is the most vicious, bloody, and uncompromising I've ever laid eyes on, and that's a very good thing. My own mind was perhaps somewhat censored until I came across his first book, "Anoxic Zone". He uses multi-level plot lines intertwining multiple characters like a pro. That's very hard to do for an amateur. Sure, his grammar isn't perfect but that is the blood on the hands of a true working, independent writer, not some disillusioned and jaded wealthy man with nothing better to do. Real writers stay up late, grow tired, eyes weary, and edit their own work. The end result is gratifying because he did what many haven't. He put out his works successively and rapidly while many just yearn to be a full fledged writer. Even in my own life writing is hard to find time for and he shows us that within all the imperfections is the real accomplishment. I am inspired by him and writing needs to become a priority for me. The way he paints the world of the vampire is unlike any out there. You won't find a more violent, brooding, evil portrayal of a vampire. With tunnels made from the hands of doomed slaves and their bones filling the cracks, to a prison for criminals with no windows and a pit full of rotting bodies, you can bet he's the king of morbid vampire visions. As they should be really. Vampires are no walk in the park. They're even beings that only live for vile thrills. Yet in his works they find some sense of humanity and even redemption. Though they still cast themselves out of society. There's a strong supernatural theme in his books that you don't see in many vampire stories. It adds an evil edge with the hatred from witnessing war atrocities filling stone sculptures only to torture others. It's classic, gory and downright putrescent. You will love the vampire again if you want more than blood! If you want the hatred, torturous dreams, sadness, yearning, and somber sorrow that they feel then this is the work for you. I like books that stand out among the rest and that's why this one made an impact. To me, he had the balls to write a truly horrific version of the vampire as one would imagine it. And he managed to never utter the word 'vampire' even once!DEATHZ HEAD A.K.A. "Pacific Rim" is one of those movies that brings back the same feeling you had watching "Godzilla". We all love huge monster movies and in this one they're epically huge. Gigantic! I had my doubts about the plot in this one but it worked out if you ask me. I thought "monsters from the bottom of the sea?" and it proved me wrong. A wormhole residing inside of an underwater volcano was a good idea. So you get to see the monsters rise out of the lava. The ones sending the monsters were aliens that must have had some great intelligence to even breed them. You see this theme in other alien movies too, the aliens being smarter than us. Yet we have an uncanny knack for using the brains we do have to outsmart super smart aliens. I don't doubt aliens could be smarter than us; it's just a shock for many to think about them having higher technology. They don't display technology here though. This movie was a crushing romp that smashes everything in its path for your entertainment. The first mech movie that I can remember seeing in the theater in a very long, long time. There have been others but not like this. I was afraid for those pilots in those things as they got thrown around like rag dolls. You don't have to like this movie for its plot if you're looking for a deep plot but it is a good movie. Guillermo Del Toro has come so far that it's amazing to think. With a successful movie like "Hellboy" however I can see why people would believe in him to pull this off. I was truly afraid of these monster titans bred to kill planets. There were some things in this movie that others might overlook that I liked, like how the government wanted to put up a wall instead of fight. Which didn't even work! And the EMP from the monster's back that wiped out all the 'digital' mechs. Go figure. We are setting ourselves up for disaster if we rely on digital too much. The nuclear jaeger was the only one able to work. These are messages hidden within for your delight. You can put meaning to them. A wormhole created by aliens isn't unfathomable. Perhaps they used electromagnetics in a way we've never seen to rip open space or even assemble and build buildings. The level 5 kaiju at the end was too big to even fathom fighting. I was so saddened to see that man's son offer to set off a nuclear bomb but real heroes in war make the biggest sacrifice sometimes. The explosion totally devastated that level 5 kaiju so it was worth it. Can you imagine if they just kept getting bigger and bigger? We would die for certain. And the kaiju that brought that jaeger in the air was a jaw dropper. If we can remember the awesomeness of movies in our youth then we might just love this movie. I know I loved it. Now the big beasties make sense to me so it's all good!
DEATHZ HEAD A.K.A. One thing I've noticed a lot of writers did back in the day, including Clive Barker and Stephen King to name a couple, was add some really absurd fantasy elements or some kind of bizarre twists. The early works of both these writers is indeed different in that regard. Nightbreed was chock full of absurd madness and a dark world unlike any you've ever seen. For instance, the cop that wants to kill the nightbreed and kill all breeders in general. That's a crazy guy for you. I like the idea of shape shifters spawned by demonic evil living under the graveyard. You can tell Barker wrote this when you see how graphic it is. The man cutting most of his skin off around the top of his head was gruesome alright, leaving only his face and a tuft of hair in the back. When I saw a preview years ago I thought that character was wearing a mask of some kind. Now I know the bloody truth! They don't make movies like this anymore. Some things the older movies did right and did very well. I love the EFX in this one too.
DEATHZ HEAD A.K.A. The whole movie flowed perfectly and the monsters were very well crafted. Very detailed and lifelike. That was back in the day of non-CGI movies when you had to use animatronics to get that effect. I think it turned out great too. It looks better than a lot of digital effects I've seen. Maybe we've lost that art in our modern age. I just wish more digital movies had CGI like "Jurassic Park" with the EFX realism of this movie. Stephen Dorff was quite young in this movie and yet his personality showed through even then. A great early role for him. When you think of movies about demons this one rises above the rest. The hole that dug itself up was brilliant. As well as the band that had Satanic rites in a booklet with it. Very nice touch if I say so. Perhaps heavy metal was likened to evil back then but it was all for fun. I didn't actually think anyone would die in this movie but his friend and his sister both got killed by those little demon bastards so it's not entirely a family movie; it's the best damn family demon movie ever. And it's not just for kids. It's for freaks and everyone.DEATHZ HEAD A.K.A. I think the original will always be the favorite but I'd like to see what the American version can add to it to make it different in some way. From the preview I noticed that the guy is locked away for 20 years instead of 15 like in the original. That's a long damn time. Some kind of screwed up revenge to take out on someone. How sad it is to think someone might go through some terrible trial as that. The original was so well done that it had to garner attention I imagine. When a straight to video movie is good enough it can become something more in a sequel or remake. So we see the protagonist in the beginning of the movie as a drunk embarrassing himself. He's married with children but he's a total mess and he doesn't really appreciate his marriage. You feel as though he could use a new life almost, no pun intended. I mean really, his life was in shambles. As the unthinkable happens he loses weight in a room with no windows. He grows a beard and moustache and long hair. He looks totally different now. Maybe tougher even. His personality take a shift for the unusual as he's forced to deal with isolation and talking to the walls. It's a really cruel, inhuman thing to do to someone as the loneliness takes a toll on him. He does eventually get let out but after so long he cannot rest without revenge, and I don't blame him one bit. I'd do the same. The reasons for his imprisonment is more about honor, as it can mean something more in another country. It concludes in climactic fashion. I dug it. You will feel just like him by the end. It has bittersweet moments. Like the girl not remember who she is. His falling for a young woman is ironic and touching. He never knows his family from before and lives life anew. It's extreme too but good. Great ideas get universal attention and appeal.
DEATHZ HEAD A.K.A. He's a secluded scientist/genius with an anti-social pattern evolving. A woman does care for him but his work takes precedence here. He's so self involved that nobody can get through to him. He's a brainiac with the need for an outlet. His idea? A sort of transport that breaks down the body into molecules and reassembles them in a new location. Teleportation was still a revolutionary idea even back then. So he does finally finish his invention and it works. But it works a little too well. This is the horror of it, even though it doesn't play out like a horror movie. It's more of a sci-fi. The cyberpunk in me likes the horror of technology while the rest of me feels for the guy so badly. You can't help but empathize with this character for the ordeal he's dealing with. The end will deliver and it satisfies.

DEATHZ HEAD A.K.A. The predator in "AVP" supposedly created the alien to hunt as sport on other planets, such as our own, regardless of human life. The irony is the predator is supposed to be more advanced than us technologically and yet they would birth such a monster for sport. I could see that happening though. A future race raising genetically engineered beasts for sport hunting is not that hard to imagine since it is in the realm of human nature to do such a thing. Now why the predator had such an ugly face is another question. Maybe they were crustaceans or arachnids of some kind that evolved into humanoids. So if they had spaceships and lasers then why not change their faces? Maybe they abhorred humans. They had no need to look like us. It's us that can't deal with another race possibly becoming more intelligent than our own. That would be like a crab evolving into a humanoid with a grotesque face but genius intellect. They shot themselves up with some kind of super steroids and had superior weaponry in order to hunt their designer prey. I think it got out of hand, either that or they had no regard for human life. I think they didn't want to kill any humans but they had no qualms about doing so. Humans are no match for either one of them.

Guest Commentator BRAINSUCKER says: "Just grab some popcorn and sit back watching humans futilely attempt to win!"DEATHZ HEAD A.K.A. Godzilla is one of the most insane creations we've ever imagined in our heads. He's also one of the most fearsome monsters around, hence the word 'god' in Godzilla because he's as big as a skyscraper. The remake showed in the opening credits what would be the unsaid explanation for his enormous growth, radiation. Our nuclear bomb testing or something else. This isn't a review of the movie "Godzilla" but rather a look into the reality of what he was. Could such a thing ever be possible in reality? Could we ever believe that radiation might cause more than death? When I talk to people their first reaction to radiation is "you'd die" and they can't believe that there's more than one kind. There are many kinds of radiation and some are being used now. The 'gamma knife' requires 200 different kinds of radiation. It's a laser knife that cuts out things like tumors or cancers without cutting you open. It burns it out. So if there was a certain type of radiation that could affect growth then the lizards body would evolve differently. In the movie it had long arms and legs like a human, and an elongated head. The spikes on its back were huge. I believe it is quite possible to spurn great growth with radiation but the question is how. In truth, radiation is very unbridled energy in its rawest form. Anything can happen as a result of it. One person might grow a third arm on his back while another grows horns and yet another grows larger and stronger. That's the truth, it's pure energy. I don't think most people could wrap their head around something like giant growth without chuckling but radiation is much more than people think. It's what keeps us together. Without it we'd be dust. Without radiation we'd be burnt to a cinder by the 'bad' radiation of the sun. There are good and bad forms everywhere you look. If we accidentally did too many nuclear bomb tests and some lizard got irradiated enough to end up growing then that might say something. Depending on the delivery and the strength maybe a lower dose kills us while a very, very large dose could make us grow. It's a theory of course but I've seen things all the time that are health in low doses and deadly at high ones so why couldn't radiation work the opposite? I have heard of the theory of 'clean' radiation so what would that be capable of? I have no doubt in my mind that some form of radiation has to be able to do it. Another similar anomaly can be seen in "Brotherhood of Steel" for the PS2 where one character resembles a zombie but he's immune to the deadly radiation all over the wasteland. There are possibilities that they don't want us to know about. Can you imagine the carnage and wreckage of a gigantic monster like that smashing its way around a city? The devastation would be worse than anything else.DEATHZ HEAD A.K.A. What if there was a video on Youtube of some guy with proof of finding some creature and it was just dismissed as a fake even though it was real? Special EFX are so good now that we could recreate anything. We have to question everything on the internet now. Can you trust what you read or see? I don't think we can trust everything. I'll give kudos to the prop makers of the creatures that looked incredibly real, and that's probably all of them, but I had a double take on some of them. I am certain if someone ever loaded a video of a real one everyone would be questioning the hell out of its validity or simply dismissing it as staged. What does this say about the way things have changed? Even if you did find proof of something like bigfoot you know someone would be trying to cover it up. And about bigfoot, I have this theory that he could simply be a cro-magnon. Since cavemen were so much bigger than us they had a hard time keeping up with the food needs and modern humans thrived. But what if... what if there was an ancestor out there somewhere? I've heard of 9 foot tall apes that lived long ago so bigfoot isn't really that far fetched. It's just a question of how he would survive. We won't be ready for real aliens when they do come because any footage on Youtube would be questioned as being fake, and the government would love that. They'd want to deny everything anyways right? Yeah, so how do we know what's really fake or true? We don't.

DEATHZ HEAD A.K.A. If there weren't any real stores then we'd have to replace them all with something. The cheap movie vending machines have almost all but taken over and now that means even less human interaction. Cyberpunks should be frightened of where this could lead. The over saturation of technology is ever looming over us. With more and more innovation humans talking face to face will slowly be a thing of the past. It's becoming an anti-social world. So it's no wonder people look to online dating or networks to get a date or make friends. Problem is you don't know those friends well enough until you know them in person. That could be dangerous but it's getting harder and harder to make friends, unless you're a part of a group or have somewhere to go. As robots take over that will obviously mean less jobs for humans, even though the population only goes up and up. That's not a good mix. We won't have actual books or CD's anymore with the digital revolution. The next generation will need to be taught with books or else they'll be gravitating towards the iPad and things like that. I don't really trust this digital movement completely. With the virtual drive now nobody's information is private. All a hacker has to do is hack the virtual drive where all the Windows users are. An HDD still has its place for privacy. Stay aware cyberpunks!
DEATHZ HEAD A.K.A. I actually liked it a lot. For a straight to DVD movie this was really good and reassures me that there can be good movies in video stores. While video stores are still around that is... I hate that thought. So this movie exceeded my expectations and I was wondering why so I waited for the credits to see this name: Werner Herzog. No wonder. This was a well written movie in fact. Nicolas Cage's acting was top notch and in high form. You will recall early roles of his where he freaks out a lot with a smile on your face, because he's so good at it. I was honestly impressed with his acting here, on drugs, off drugs, stealing drugs, lol, you get it. The story starts with a flooded prison from a hurricane, classic in my opinion. From there you have a suspenseful ramping up of events which start with something simple like an alligator dead in the road. And to my delight Fairuza Balk shows up out of nowhere with her sexy self. All grown up and steaming hot I will say. It's a movie fully of the misdoings of the most corrupt cop around. He's bad to the bone but this time around the cop goes a most peculiar route. It messes with your head in a good way. I didn't know what to expect but I was thinking the worst would happen. With the original in place already this one had to do something different to stand out and it did! You will be satisfied by this one indeed.

DEATHZ HEAD A.K.A. If this happens then people would loot supermarkets like rabid dogs with knives in their hands. People would start making weapons. Families would be divided against their own. Rival families would be your neighbors and friends. You might have to kill your neighbors for food even. Cannibalism would occur more in the poorer sections of the city. People would start to become animalistic and sense your fear. Guns would be great but becoming proficient with swords and machetes would really be a good idea. If you can't find one then you'd make one with sharpened steel plates or sheet metal. Sheet metal is actually really sharp ya know. After the rise of gangs would come the rise of clans of families living together in droves big enough to fend off intruders. Food would become the new currency. You would work for food if a job became available. Travel would be done by horse and carriage. Messages would take weeks to get anywhere, no more email. I would really miss the internet seeing as how our alternative would be hunting humans for everything: fuel, clothes, food, etc. And money would have no value. That's what happens when the economy gets bad enough; all money would lose value. Everyone would wear clothes that look like something a gutter punk would wear. DEATHZ HEAD A.K.A. Do you fear a screen showing up on the t.v. set saying something like "Please Stand By"? You turn on the radio to hear panic stricken crowds fighting off the undead in whatever news shows are left. After enough time you'll realize you can't go food shopping. And the plumbing won't work anymore. What will you do? You'll have to create weapons and forage in the forest as much as you can. You'll have to create armor as well. Then you might even have to resort to hunting any living humans there are. They say that you regain your animal instincts when you start hunting humans, like enhanced hearing, eyesight, smell, speed, and whatever else. You become an animal by living like one. We all know they have strong senses. The weapons should preferably be semi-auto to auto submachine guns. They can't have a lot of kick so no hand cannons. Sniper rifles would be a good idea too. Raid ammunition stores for ammo and carry a backpack full of excess. Now the armor should be ballistic if you can find it. Ballistic armor can take a gunshot point blank so it can stop a zombie. Even better: add spikes to your ballistic armor for zombie head bashing. Add spikes to armored gloves too. A ballistic helmet would be the best protection. Now create swords. Machetes can work too if you tweak them to be more like broadswords. If it's possible, collect zombie meat and cook it thoroughly, only if it doesn't turn you! This is a rare practice but may come in handy. If it's possible then why not? Leave no skin visible and carry sharpened rods.DEATHZ HEAD A.K.A. Sounds downright horrifying doesn't it? And that's only one of millions of combinations that we could make. I'd like to think there might be some mad scientist somewhere working on something right now as we speak. Reality never sees mutant horror but the truth is science is capable of it now. That's why we make sci-fi movies, because sometimes they are real possibilities. You can find examples in real life in the supermarkets when you find combination veggies or fruits. They might be a different color or shape but they perfect it on produce first. These are like beta tests for animals in essence. So after enough time animals are the next step. And after that I have no doubt someone will try something on people. It's just a matter of time. You can't stop progress. It's in us to keep exploring the unknown and trying new things. That could be a simple description of human nature. We're never satisfied with anything so we keep improving and reinventing. Mad science isn't about improving however. Mutant gene experiments are just plain mad but someone could argue that it could lead to a new discovery of some kind to better humanity, like in the movie "Splice" where they created a blob-like creature made up of different animals. In the name of science they created an abomination to possibly create a mutant gene capable of thwarting diseases or viruses, etc. but it's also a very scary direction to go in. The unknown part of science could lead to something that should not exist. Do you fear science? You should.
DEATHZ HEAD A.K.A. Now for some hard science! What are colleges doing with our hard earned money? They're creating hadron colliders that could summon black holes to eat up our entire planet! I may be exaggerating, but then again maybe not. What if they succeed in creating a small black hole that starts to grow? That's the sort of thing you expect from a SyFy movie where the death toll is quite high and goes unnoticed for the most part among the wreckage and panic. If they could manage to control a black hole then they could make one in space and turn it into a planet, since that is what black holes do. They form planets by collecting all the debris and minerals necessary into the heart of the pulsar. Bet you didn't know that! LOL. Or maybe you did. I dunno. They also send jets of debris out to other black holes to distribute all the materials in the universe evenly. Well, they haven't confirmed that but I can surmise that I'm correct. And if it went totally wrong a hadron collider could blow up the entire university, or even a city! That is no joke. The technology behind it is heavy duty and I won't be working near one any time soon. I've worked in an oil refinery and that was scary enough. If you see a black hole form start running! - That's my advice. Our tax dollars at work. Let's hope it works huh!DEATHZ HEAD A.K.A. Lately I've been seeing different movies of this ilk showing up. The idea of an unborn child coming back to haunt you is one hell of a creepy idea isn't it? The life that never was wants life. Yikes! Or the life that could have been. It's hard to understand how life could stay alive after death even before birth but imagine if you went to hell and you encountered your unborn child all grown up and angry, just like in the movie "Farm House". You may not be able to wrap your head around it but that won't matter when you're being judged by that unwanted life in hell. What a macabre idea. In this movie we have a Jewish ghost. There was also another movie with a Jewish ghost too. Kind of a trend. I'm not really afraid of any Jewish ghosts finding me but it's not about being Jewish. The idea is the ghost of an unborn child, which so happens to be one in this culture. So it's not a "Jewish" movie. It's a ghost movie indeed. You don't need to be of that faith to appreciate the horror here. The most impressively freakish part of this movie is where the twisted, mutated people get reanimated. They walk like spiders chasing someone. Now that is cool, you have to admit, no matter what faith you follow. It'll chill you! I would call it 'body horror' as well as 'ghost horror'. Don't let it catch you! If that were chasing me I would be running fast!DEATHZ HEAD A.K.A. I'm learning to make it work for me though. Now where was I? Ah yes, the ultra special re-review of "Phantoms", one of my fave movies. The reason this is so special is because I got to thinking about what Dean Koontz envisioned in his mind. The creature in this movie was petroleum based and intelligent. It could mimic humans and take on different forms. It was made up of the DNA of all animals and minerals, metals, etc. So if someone were to do some deep drilling and strike oil they could possibly run into this beast. Imagine that! That could be a possible environmental message. It is possible in fact. I'll use an example I'm sure you've all heard about before. The incident at Chernobyl with a nuclear meltdown caused some seriously scary stuff to happen, including fish tails growing on the backs of people. Why? Because we share 98% of all our DNA with other creatures. This creature really could exist! Shape shifters are a new idea because nature doesn't have any but you never know. New species are showing up all the time. This movie has a great basis for the monster when you research the science behind it and the feel of the whole thing was just like a cool horror movie that starts at some isolated cabin near a small town in the middle of the wilderness. The EFX get really good after a bit of suspense build-up which really pays off. I like how it makes you wonder what's going to happen and then when the turning point does arise they don't skimp on anything. We see the monster a lot and it's gratuitous. It was said to have killed off ancient civilizations and been worshiped as a deity. The cast was great and they worked together very well. In my eyes this would be a truly horrific encounter that you would be lucky to survive.

DEATHZ HEAD A.K.A. It's time. I am officially reviewing the movie "1984". Everyone and their grandma knows this is a classic story about dystopia in an imagined future back before 1984 of course. What they imagined long ago is rather scary when you think about it. What did they imagine? A world at war constantly. The economy fed by war. War was the economy of the future here. I don't really understand that concept myself though since devastation takes money and puts people in poverty. I think how it works it with too much devastation they would herd us like cattle into enormous armored forts that function as makeshift cities to protect us, but at the cost of our liberty. This way they don't care how much annihilation is taking place outside the armored city walls and people have no choice but to listen to their new rules and laws or die. Death is not a hard punishment to imagine in a war ravaged world. This punishment goes for many things in this movie too. Imagine love being outlawed. Not only a 1 child policy but love itself. If things get bad enough and the military were to take over then a military state can impose any law they see fit. War becomes the religion and the news. It's a way of life in this world. Dictators rule everywhere. This is a savage outlook on humanity's future if I ever saw one. And in the midst of all this chaos are two people that dare to find love. What's the price of love in this world? It would be death like any other broken law. I can't even fathom a world where love is punishable by death. It sounds like they would only want you to propagate when they allow it to control the population so love holds no purpose to them. A military state would be the worst possible scenario. They would keep war going indefinitely just to give people some reason to work. Oh now it makes sense... they would put us to work making tanks, guns, uniforms, rations, etc. and all jobs would have the same purpose. To help the war effort. What a frightening thought that is. It's hard to believe this movie was made so long ago. It's a work of art and a warning to us.DEATHZ HEAD A.K.A. There really are a lot of things that could go wrong but you always hope that's not the case. In this movie every possible thing that can go wrong really does. You think how is that possible but you'll see when you watch it. I was taken off guard too because any number of things can go wrong in space. Anyhow, they crash land on Mars after something eventual does go wrong, as we were able to predict. The plot alone is really good to me for a space movie. It may not have theater blockbuster written all over it but it was a good movie. Once on Mars they realize they're basically stranded there unless they can find a way back to the orbiting spaceship. That is a predicament I would never want to be in. What happens later is beyond your imagination. Will they die on Mars? Will they kill each other in the process? Or will they work together and find a way? They're not alone though. They happen to have a robot with them that walks like a dog and fights like a man when it stands up. This robot senses their need for its battery and takes it as a sign of hostility. So it starts hunting them! That is why you don't make a robot too smart people! AI is only good at a determined intelligence. It sounds like the sort of space nightmare scenario that you would never want to be in so I feel for these guys. Will they find a possible solution to Earth's polluted and dying remains on that big, red planet? Something else lurks up there. What they find will shock and bewilder them. It's a cool trip. This movie will test your survival skills. Fear intelligent robots!DEATHZ HEAD A.K.A.
