Tada! It’s the big reveal! Very Culinary is now Belly Full.

I know I have a lot of long-time, loyal readers who are very attached to Very Culinary, and sorry to see it go. But I assure you I haven’t gone away. I am still the same Amy, and will still be sharing the same family anecdotes and great food.

To read more about the decision to rebrand, you can go here. But in a nutshell, Belly Full suits me better. It’s fun and whimsical, and better encompasses all the things that bring me joy – food, of course. But also family, animals, running, and funny things!

One of the things that my readers have told me time and time again over the years is how much they love the uncluttered nature of Very Culinary, and how easy it was to navigate. Well, Belly Full is no different! This brand new design (and new mobile view), thanks to the talented Sarah of Snixy Kitchen, is even more simplified. (...)

• A BIG ANNOUNCEMENT FOR 2016!

 

Once upon a time back in 2007, Haley was only 1 year old. I used to take her to mommy-and-me playdates, where I brought food…and everyone asked for the recipes. Paul suggested I start a blog, as a way to share them with everyone. A blog? What’s that? I quickly found out. And Very Culinary was born!

For days, we tossed around names, seeing if anything stuck. At the time, Very Culinary seemed cute and clever. And who cared, really? Nobody was going to read me, anyway! But then the blog grew, as did the entire food blogging universe. And after only a few years, I started to hate my name.

The mere definition of “culinary” is just “of or for cooking.” But for many readers, if not most, the word implies “formal” or “stuffy” or “pretentious,” and apparently also suggests food that is “complicated” or “involved” << all the things I’m not. It has caused some growing pains and all-around displeasure that needs to be rectified! (...)

Happy Thursday my little Kumquats! How’s your week?

It’s been raining buckets here in Northern California! Looks like El Niño finally decided to show up – which is a great thing.

One of Trevor’s classmates informed him that the drought was over. To which Trevor replied “actually, we need about 20 more inches of rain in the next six months.” HA. Can you tell we talk about the drought a lot at home? I don’t know whether to be proud that my kid is smart, or fear he’s going to get beat up at school.

Happy New Year!!

So, yesterday I was in the middle of my run…feeling like I was going to die, of course (not really. well, sort of.)…checking the time left on the treadmill, realizing I still had seven minutes left. Sweet Jesus. Longest seven minutes ever.

Every morning, I drag my ass out of bed at 4:50 to engage in major physical exertion. And the chill of the garage. Sounds like a hoot, huh? Oy.

Some mornings, I fly! Like, “Ya baby! I am killing this!” Other mornings feel like torture and I question “why the Hell am I doing this, again??”

Oh, right. Because being in shape feels amazing. Fitting in your clothes feels amazing. Walking up the stairs and not being winded, is awesome.

I’m happy to say that those 10 pounds I lost back in June, I have kept off. WOOT. And with middle age, the holidays daily life, that is no small feat.
