As an apology for cancelling their last ‘Know the Not Known’ event, Tiger are putting on a free replacement party at east London venue CAMP. A pretty decent gesture, and, even though they’re refusing to let on who’ll be appearing until the night itself (Saturday, August 6th) they have stated that some of the names on the last bill will crop up on this one, too.

The first time we heard Gross Magic (aka Brighton youngster Sam McGarrigle) we enjoyed the experience enough to drag our tired fingers over to Google and carry out an extensive background search. But when all we could turn up was a deleted MySpace page and a weird children’s toy, we sort of forgot about him. This was a mistake, because the next time we heard from him he’d mutated into an entirely different beast; one that had Ariel Pink’s sequin clogs, the nose of Beck, and walked like a dog recently scolded by Kurt Cobain. It was the video for his song “Sweetest Touch”, and once we’d seen it, we decided to ask him to make us a mixtape.(...)
