Rustan's Fresh Cagayan de Oro's Monumental Opening

Rustan's Fresh Supermarket in Cagayan de Oro is officially open and I am honored to be invited together with the CDO Bloggers to what I call the "Monumental" opening in the Metro this year.

Rustan's Fresh Supermarket - CDO is the 17th branch of Rustan's in the Philippines and Cagayan de Oro is honored to have the biggest Rustan's to date in the Philippines, also 1st in Mindanao and President Donnie V. Tantoco of Rustan's added that it's the best that they've created.

Rustan's is a high-end Philippine retailer and department store. Rustan's retail component includes many of the upscale names and signatures. Rustan's is also known for pioneering its stores-within-a-store concept, allowing for one-stop shopping.

Centrio Mall's Activity Center hosted the VIP Night together with top Cagayan de Oro personalities from the entertainments, business, online, press and the local government.

The event was opened by Donnie V. Tantoco, President of Rustan's Supermarket, Inc. and was followed by the Misamis Oriental Governor and now CDO Mayor Elect Oscar "Oca" Moreno. Mayor Moreno on his first public speech mentioned that he will do his best to attract more investors for the City. He also added that as the CDO Airport will shutdown, Lumbia will be called the New Cagayan de Oro.
The audience was also entertained by Iya Villania's outstanding aero dance. A band also ushered the guests to the Rustan's Fresh Supermarket entrance to officially open the store.

As the Rustan's officially open, smiling supermarket staff welcomed the guests.

It was also a monumental day for me as I was able to interview Mayor Elect "Oca" Moreno in his first public appearance as CDO Mayor together with the President of Rustans.

My Cebu City Marriott Hotel Breakfast Experience

There are a lot of things you can do in Cebu. I have regret that I have to leave early for CdeO, but it my Marriott Hotel Breakfast Experience completed it all. I would like to thank Ms. Charlene Go, whom I have known in Cagayan de Oro a year ago for Liempo King.

Cebu City - Marriott Hotel is conveniently located at the leading financial business district, right next to the Ayala Center Cebu and the Terraces. This famous Cebu Hotel offers the same 5-star level of service with other Marriott Hotels worldwide.

The hotel has been renovated lately and the interior is just stunning. I simply love their lobby specifically the metal divider where it separates the lobby from the business area.

It's breakfast time when I got there and their huge dining area filled up with world wide breakfast options got me confused of what to really eat, and here's what I got.

During the breakfast, Ms. Charlene and I talked about a lot of things. It was a long memorable talk and I'm glad to have reconnected with her. See you soon in CdeO, Ms. Charlene!

Before wrapping up my breakfast meal, the friendly Marriott Hotel staffs were busy changing the menu. Lunch time! I also heard that they offer the Best "Lutong Pinoy" in Cebu.

My Marriott experience wouldn't be complete without touring this world class business hotel.

Below are works of the famous business family - Ayala. Unique artworks can be seen in each room including the big art work of the hotel lobby.

They already have it all for you, including the Marriott Hotel Gym.

Ms. Charlene also guided me to the pathway that would lead to the Ayala Center - The Terraces.

I must also say this, I never had problems uploading pictures around the hotel as it is equipped with free wireless internet packed with blazing internet speed - ideal for travelers, and business people staying in Cebu.

DevCon Ignites the Tech Scene in Cagayan de Oro

The I.T. scene in Cagayan de Oro is just starting up. Thank you to DevCon Philippines or Developers Connect Philippines for igniting the scene. DevCon is non-proﬁt organization which aims to promote the "IT Pinoy Talent" mainly by providing a unique venue for IT students, educators, professionals and enthusiasts to Sync, Support and Succeed.

I attended the CDO Geek Up event which was held at Cleversoft, Inc. located 3/F Malagar Bldg, Upper Balulang, Cagayan de Oro City. The event was attended by around 25 plus individuals from freelancers to different IT companies and schools.

I like the event because it promoted the talents we have in the city, the capabilities of the Kagayanons in the I.T. field, and the possibilities of the city to be one of the I.T. hubs in the Philippines.

Thank you, Haifa Carina Baluyos, for inviting us, the CDO Bloggers. I am one with you in your cause to promote the IT Pinoy Talent.

To the CEO of Cleversoft, Inc. Todd Grannis, your talk reminded everyone of us to give the best shot to all things. You reminded me of the #YOLO (You Only Live Once) hashtag.

As a web addict, I got hooked to the talks given by Arthur Vincent Simon, Freelancer Web Developer on "Introduction to Twitter Bootstrap", Cris John Tagupa, Web Developer at Syntactics, Inc. on "Trends in Web Development" and Lionel Amarado, General Manager at Innovative Web Technologies on "mxGraph - Javascript Library for Creating Interactive Diagrams".

My stay in Cebu for 4 days was made more memorable by the Center Suites, My Home in Cebu and the speakers’ official residence for the Social Media Influencers Summit 2013.

To be honest, I have dialled zero 20 times during my stay. Their service has exceeded my expectations - take note - that is anytime 24/7 where my requests where granted. Seriously, I had doubts that I may have challenges in Cebu. For a first time to travel alone they made me feel that I belong. I was not just their guest but a new found friend.

My room was equipped with all the things I needed for my stay - a mattress bed, flat screen tv, and a high speed wireless internet where I can update my friends of my where abouts in Cebu. To add - a hot and cold shower – amazing!

This budge hotel in Cebu is also secured with CCTV cameras and security staffs whole day to ensure our safety. "Manong Chief" was also accomodating of my request I need a cab.

Let me open my speech with a quote from an American author in the area of new thought movement and the earliest producers of modern genre of personal-literature, Napoleon Hill.

Strength and growth come only through continuous effort and struggle.

Intro about the Org and Blogging in CDO

Cagayan de Oro Bloggers, Inc. or fondly called the CDO Bloggers is a S.E.C. registered non-profit organization composed of Bloggers and Social Media Practitioners from CDO and Northern Mindanao. Our aim is to promote the city of Cagayan de Oro and the island of Mindanao as a peaceful and thriving place in this part of the world thru social media.

Tracing the Roots

Looking back 5 years ago, the CDO Bloggers was composed of writing aficionados who met once a month to cover any news-worthy or even those not-so-news-worthy events around CDO, after which, the group would fondly end up in a local karaoke bar. It all started with a visionary, a woman who became a successful pastry chef who, at one point dedicated her time by creating one of the most dynamic groups in CDO, Ms. Chiq Montes.

Why I Joined the Group? W.I.I.F.M.

As young as 12 years old I was already fascinated with the online world, creating my own website through tripod.com. It was still very rough at the edges, but as I recall, it was one of the best works I have created in my life. Until one day, I saw this group on TV and they were interviewed about they do. I remember Ms. Chiq talking about the internet, writing, and travelling combined into one. For me it struck a nerve signaling an adrenalin rush to my brain and I said to myself, “I want to be a part of it”. Although it took me three years to sign up to be an official member, I was religiously gawking them like a hawk following their every move that continued to pique my interest.

I remember them blogging about a food chain with poor customer service, and with that, it somehow affected me in a way that I too would no longer eat in that specific restaurant. I realized; this is revolutionary!
Now that I am an official member, my eyes are opened to countless opportunities; opportunities that will open the doors to a greater purpose, which is to uplift and promote advocacies for a better environment.

Let me share 3 Cs in growing the blogging community:

1. Communication

Definition: a process by which information is exchanged between individuals through a common system of symbols, signs, or behavior, a system (as of telephones) for transmitting or exchanging information
a verbal or written message

The very essence of blogging is communication, and sometimes over communication. The human species is designed to be with one another, take care of one another, and live with one another. That in itself is impossible with the absence of communication. A relationship between a mother and daughter is anchored through a good communication. A boss and employee’s relationship is also anchored through communication. Not to mention a nation’s success, and even a nation’s downfall.

Communication breeds clear directions with the right motivation in reaching a desired goal. It is a catalyst for inspiration which leads people to live their passion inculcating great outcomes. No matter how one defines communication, let me share with you this fact I have learned from my own life journey. Communication is the key to human connection. At the end of the day, we just want to connect.

I once remembered a managers saying… “You are considered dumb if you don’t use the resources in front of you.”

The group fully utilized what’s free and available in the internet. The group also utilized the internet in different meaningful ways.

Conflicting views
This is a hard part, when we meet, there’s an overwhelming basket of idea that would result to conflicts. We all wanna say something, but in the end we make decisions for the good of everyone.

2. Commitment

Commitment is the basis of trust. Keeping the trust among the group means keeping the faith and holding on to the vision that has been marked with the fellowship of bloggers. Commitment means the willingness to accomplish tasks without complaints; it means going the extra mile and believing in agreement to conquer uncertainties as we go along the way.

3. Camaraderie

The bloggers take pride in the spirit of friendly, good fellowship. It is the facet where we the bloggers should get our strength from.

How we dealt adversities? Whenever we are hit by any of these adversities, we treat it as an opportunity, the opportunity to grow and learn from it.

Criticism - Once you post your views online as a group, expect there will be people who would go their way, acknowledge, listen, assess before answering the comments.

Listen. Everyone is entitled of his or her opinion and look a solution that you think would create a win-win impact “Stick with what works for you.”

It all boils down to advocacy, the love to info blast, the love for your city.

How did it grow from a plain small community to The CDO Bloggers you see, you hear and you interact today?

It is because of the undying ideas that pours in. The passion to blast. The hunger or enthusiasm to grow and mature.If I may add, the fire burning in each of our hearts.

What are their contributions to Cagayan de Oro?

January 2009 - 3$ dollar campaign CDO flashflood, Sendong - Fund Raising, Pablo - Info Blast via Infographics, Kagay-an Festival – One of the Official Media, Tourism - Showcasing the best of CDO’s best. It’s now a more connected and informed city.

Acupuncture at Zenbiosis!

I claim it - I am a certified Zenbiosis Baby! My Saturday wouldn't be complete without paying Zenbiosis a visit. Their clinic opened last November 2012 and it is my new favorite. For those who have been following this blog, you surely have read my post about the basic facial and chemical peeling services that Zenbiosis is offering. This time, I will be sharing the pictures and my thoughts about my latest experience - Acupuncture in Cagayan de Oro. Where? At Zenbiosis.

The Return of the "Comeback"

The break out, sad but yes, my week was full of let us just say food and sleepless nights. I have to commend the Zenbiosis team for their continuous effort of reviving my skin and I am so excited about our plans. Last Saturday, I availed of their basic facial just like I do that past few months. Dra. Grace Bandoy checked out my face, saw a few bumps, and later suggested that I do the "Acupuncture." Wait, Dra. Grace said Acupuncture. Yes! My eyes grew big while Mitch, her new staff, was finishing the facial session.

Needles, oh, needles.

My acne was already chronic as she mentioned. She introduced me to Acupunture. She even told me the benefits. I had doubts, seriously, because of the thought that we have to insert needles. During the annual physical examination at the company that I am working. I would take a big sigh before the nurses can extract blood for me. Dra. Grace saw my hesitation and later convinced me that it should not be painful. I trust her and gave a big yes.

There were different things that came out from my mind before the acupunture session but for the improvement I have to be strong. 6 needles were initially inserted in different parts of my body, namely my hand, my elbow and legs. These points were to target the different imbalances that may have cause the chronic acne. At the first few minutes the points felt heavy and I could felt the short sensation of electricity going through the points like a ripple effect. Shortly after the sensation, I felt super relaxed and ready to sleep.

It's all in the mind. Acupuncture isn't that painful at all. (big smile)

The Friday Fever at T.G.I. Fridays!

It was last year when Jacqs (cagayandeoro.info), the CDO Bloggers Org Secretary told me about T.G.I. Friday's. As part of the CDO Bloggers, we are also in the look for something new and interesting within the Metro. So, I emailed Bistro Group, the mother company of T.G.I. Friday's to request for a tour and help them make their brand visible in the CDO Blog-osphere which they granted.

Last January 24, 2013 the T.G.I. Friday's Media launch was held. Present in the dinner were prominent faces from the Cagayan de Oro Press and Media which included Kasamang Annaliza of RMN DXCC.

T.G.I. Friday's was jam-packed when I arrived. The party atmosphere welcomed me. I felt it was already Friday on a Thursday Night. Their staff started serving the dinner after 15 minutes.

Now... drum roll please. Let the "OVERWHELMING" dinner begin. Yes, indeed overwhelming.

Unexpected! My First Ever Radio Interview

Being the President of the Cagayan de Oro Bloggers, Inc. comes a big responsibility to hold. So far as the head of the blogging community in Cagayan de Oro I have been blessed with a lot of talking opportunities like being on TV Patrol Northern Mindanao and Arangkada last year and my first time on radio in 2013 at RMN DXCC last January 15. All this TV guesting and radio interviews were about the bloggers and netizens stand against the Anti-Cybercrime Law or Republic Act 10175. The CDO Bloggers is still firm with its stand against the law and we hope that it will be reviewed thoroughly by the Supreme Court Justices.

Now speaking to the public and educating them on the effects of the Cybercrime Law.

The law itself has its strong sides but I am more worried on the take down of website clause and the freedom of expression, etc.

Last January 18, 2013, a follow up interview about the use of social media this 2013 Elections was done via phone patch.

As a summary, we internet users can always voice out our feelings online, before we post anything, let's review and think of the effects that our statements may cause. Be a responsible internet user.

Not Just Skin Deep Results, It's Within at Zenbiosis!

Do you have any acne problems? Have you heard anybody of your friends saying your face is DISGUSTING? Am I hearing a Yes? I'll give you options then. Your friends are blunt to tell you that word in front of you and you take it as a challenge to improve. I meant being presentable to everyone. Or is is a big NO? You can just feel that he or she is disgusted with my face and ignore. There's a lot of things to consider. Ayt?

One piece of advice, LISTEN, improve yourself or IGNORE them if its not true. I must say we can't please everybody, there would always be side comment perhaps from the insecure ones. The sad thing is most of the time we are judged via our physical appearance and not by who we are beneath.

Don't just sit and whine about those things, make the effort. A solution is always out there and all you got to do is look around.

Eureka!I have found it. Zenbiosis, a Medical and Aesthetic Clinic owned by VanityClinic.com author/ beauty blogger and also a physician who pursued her passion for beauty, she is no other than Dra. Grace Pamparo-Bandoy. I am a regular customer at Zenbiosis since they opened last November 2012 and look forward to their basic facial cleaning. If I may add, their Customer Service is Superb!

2 weeks ago Dra Grace suggested that I do the Acne Facial, Chemical Peeling and a few acne injections. They say "No Pain, No Gain". The pain is tolerable and I must say that she was able to surpass my expectations. I now have a point of comparison from jumping one clinic to the other last 2 years and it was bloody (in Harry Potter accent). The Zenbiosis Chemical Peeling to decrease the amount of oil in my face was not painful at all, no need for any fan or even ice cubes to lessen the pain.

Oh before I forget, let me share my pictures during the facial, chemical peel and acne injections.

Weeks after my session, I am still a satisfied Zenbiosis Baby! This time, I am now more confident to face people.

The Balut Eating Challenge

The CDO Night Cafe is indeed a pinoy and street food haven. I don't eat Balut, seriously. I feared that one day I'll be stuck in a Balut Eating Challenge and it did happen this early 2013.

Balut is known to be an exotic food for the tourist. They may not all like it but we have a few brave ones that is up for the challenge, like, Michael from Germany.

As per Wikipedia, "Balut is a fertilized duck embryo that is boiled and eaten in the shell. It is commonly sold as street food in the Philippines. They are common food in countries in Southeast Asia. It is best served with beer. Balut eaters prefer salt and/or a chili, garlic and vinegar (white or coconut sap) mixture to season their eggs. The eggs are savored for their balance of textures and flavors; the broth surrounding the embryo is sipped from the egg before the shell is peeled, and the yolk and young chick inside can be eaten."

I'm also glad Ms. Mai2x taught me how to eat Balut. Thanks Ms. Mai for the tips and capturing the moments! I do hope you also follow her instructions. So how?

1. Crack a small hole on the shell.
2. Crack a little more and peel the shell to create a large opening.
3. Put a pinch of salt or vinegar.
4. Continuously eat the Balut meat.
5. Close your eyes or focus on another thing and swallow the Balut.

Oh Yeah! Food Trip at the CDO Night Cafe!

T.G.I. Weekend! The first work week of 2013 has been a blast. Wow! Come on 2013. Now it's time to enjoy the weekend with some food trip at the CDO Night Cafe and Market or what we fondly call Night Cafe. I took the chance to tour Michael, a tourist-friend, together with Dan, Ms. Mai and Vivi.

Cagayan de Oro has a big potential in terms of food tourism. Tourists come here not just for the adventures that the city can offer but also the variety of mouth watering Filipino foods we can bring to their plates. That is the main reason I am a big fan together with the rest of the bloggers in promoting our lovely city.

So there you go, Mommy Vivi picked her most recommended stall, just remember - its in between Tirso Neri St. (McDonalds Divisoria CDO), RN Abejuela St. (in front of the J.R. Borja Monument) and Tiano Brothers St. lies a pinoy food haven. Yes, the food bliss! A serve would cost around Php 40-60. Not bad if you are on a tight budget. This is surely different, not the fast foods but foods that depict our mixed culture. I bet Michael had fun eating at the Night Cafe, so with out any delay... presenting... (drum roll please) *wink

Chicken "Halang-halang" (literally translated as Chicken Spicy-Spicy) is a spicy chicken soup made of chili leaves, sliced chicken, and coconut. It is dubbed as the best food that will bring all emotions according to an this article on the Choose Philippines website. I'm not a big fan of spicy food but for Halang-halang, it's a go!

Next in line is the Kare-kare, a traditional native stew mixed with peanut stew. This kare-kare from the CDO Night Cafe is one of the best in Cagayan de Oro, in line with Extra Ordinare at Ground Floor Robinsons in Limketkai Mall. All I can remember is the tender meat, eggplant, and the tasty peanut stew.

Kalderetang Kanding is present in almost all Filipino celebrations and fiesta. It's a goat meat stewed with tomato sauce and potato.

Other than that, we also ordered Pansit, Puto and a serve of Macaroni Salad. Oh yeah, it was a heavy and engaging dinner. Burp!

13 Lucky Fruits for the New Year

Kung Hei Fat Choi (in Chinese), Happy New Year (in English), Manigong Bagong Taon (in Filipino) and Malipayong Bag-ong Tuig (in Bisaya)! Those were the four languages/dialects wherein I can pronounce the new years greetings.

In each country, we have our own customs and traditions to welcome the new year. In the Philippines, one common tradition it to prepare 13 fruits - we call this "13 Lucky Fruits for the New Year". My holiday season was really busy so I took the chance to order a set from Ms. Sahlie Baquiran, their store is called Cody's la Tienda through Facebook.

Our family has been practicing this tradition ever since, you might be wondering why its 13, an unlucky number. As I surf the internet for the reason behind this, I stumbled upon CNN's iReport stories (not vetted) and here's what I've got:

"13 is actually a lucky number and having round fruits signifies coins so having a lot will bring luck and prosperity this coming 2009 (year)... Most people follow these traditions because of the luck that they would like to earn... Sometimes, effort in earning a living is not enough, people resort to beliefs to help them strive better even if its only on the psychological level... " says iReport user jvabellar.

I have nothing against the family tradition, in fact, I look forward to our 2014 "13 Lucky Fruits for the New Year". I believe it is sort of a neutralizer from the meaty season that has passed. May all this 13 fruits bring good health for more wealth. Again, from the bottom of my heart, Happy New Year!

2012: A Big Social Media Year for VICMADZ

Twenty Twelve, oh, 2012 - a big year has ended and 2013 starts today. I have decided to come up an opening blog for 2012 evaluating the previous year that has passed and moving forward to 2013. Happy New Year! I wish you a prosperous year ahead.

Bigger Responsibility

2012 was the year with bigger responsibilities. Being installed as the President of CDO Bloggers, Inc. gave me more pressure for my self to lead a group of amazing bloggers and social media practioners with amazing ideas. Cheers to more years of serving Cagayan de Oro! It has been a rockin' rollin year for us!

I am also blessed with so works and bigger projects being a Trainer at a Fortune 500 Company. Up to this point of time, I am really greatful to be part of a dynamic team that strives for excellence. They have pushed me to aim for the best. Let's win this!

Going Beyond Cagayan de Oro

The 5 days Bohol experience together with the Trainers was a trigger for myself to go out and explore the world. Bohol, an amazing Island, I shall return. The CDO Bloggers also visited the Iligan Bloggers at Iligan - the City of Majestic Waterfalls, you are so dear to me. I have come to realize that in 360 degree view, both Cities have common things and thus I call them the Sister Cities.

Exploring Cagayan de Oro

We ended 2011 with Sendong that swept the City and the region but never the less CDO is back on its feet and moving forward with CDO Bloggers and the local online community to really promote CDO to the world. I have attended a lot of events this year - a record breaking for me and an accomplishment as well.

Connecting with Media

It's not only a mere connection but also understading the word media as a whole. This was the year of ties. It was an opportunity to meet the CDO NUJP members and the CDO Press. 2012 was the year of TV exposure, 2 in a week. I have also come to realize that being in the media requires a big responsibility to your friends and mostly to the blog readers/followers.

Confidence Builder

In downtimes, I have realized that I can do things above my emotions. I have learned to think before doing anything. Confidence is not an overnight thing. You need to fuel it with what I call "little" confidence events in your life.

Social Media for Change

If you can recall, I created a blog post against a big pizza chain in the Philippines. It was tough, I needed more confidence and thus I was able to find it. After a few months, I have seen that branch transform. A transformation that I could not claim but maybe contributed. I have also proven that Social Media can really change and influence on how we think and how we deal with emotions. Let me share this video I saw on TED.

Maturity

Behind the name VICMADZ is a person that has gone through a lot of life changing events this year, it could be sad events or the ones we look forward - Triumphs! I pray for more maturity to handle difficult situations that will make me a better person inside.

This blog post will just be quick. (wink) A few days ago, Florence, a good friend of mine arrived in Cagayan de Oro from Chicago, Illinois. After a year and 2 months of working as an educator she is back in town to celebrate the Yuletide season with her family and of course - her friends. We, I, Joan, Laiza (absent: Jovan and Richard) really seize the moment during the dinner that she set up by asking lotsa questions - tons and recalling our High School moments. Good times! She lost weight and that really surprise us - jaw dropping. Cheers to the Friendship! I love High School.

The Elegant Mango Bag for My Lola Fel!

Last December 2, 2012, I together with the 100 select guest were invited to the Centrio Mall - Mango Opening. Wow, thank you Mango for the opportunity to cover your new branch opening!

Present in over 100+ countries, Mango is an international Spanish brand, which manufactures and designs clothes and accessories for women and men. The event was attended by VIPs in CDO and the media (including the Northern Mindanao Bloggers). Mango Spain (their main office) representatives Jokin Areceta and Claudia Castillo, Mango Philippines Kelly Santos, and Cagayan de Oro's Michelle Francisco cut the ribbon to formally open their new branch.

The charming Ms. Cebu 2012 Sean Maynard hosted the event.

The attendees to the event were also given Mango bags. The moment I got home, I decided to give it to my Lola and received a big smile from her. It was a cutest scene I've ever seen. To add, she told me to thank Mango personally.

Skin Rejuvenation starts at Zenbiosis

It's known to everyone that I have a big facial problem - undying acne, pimples and scars. I have also jumped from one derma clinic to another the past few years, though they've really done their part and I often fail to maintain it. As a call center trainer, it's a requirement that I need to be presentable at all times and having lots of acne is a major dilemma on my side. This problem needs to end.

I am starting again and I am confident that this will be the solution. Enough of those fancy and costly services as I have discovered that skin rejuvenation starts at Zenbiosis. I was welcomed by May and Anne, the clinic staff and presented the card that was given to me by Dra. Grace Pamparo-Bandoy (the owner of the clinic) which happens to be a blogger too. Her blog is "The Doctor is vaIN". Impressive! May and Anne were knowledgable as I asked a lot of questions on how to go about a service. To add up, they were also very accomodating. I am a big fan of excellent customer service. I'm glad they've exceed my expectations.

Anne basically handled my Zenzation Basic Cleaning Facial. She set my expectations (which was good) that there were "slightly" painful part as my pimples were active. She also educated me on what things to do and avoid. It took her an hour to finish the basic facial. Overall, it was a pretty good experience. It brings back hope as I start again in my journey to skin rejuvenation.

Love, Mintugsok - the CDO Bloggers 2012 Trekking!

I miss trekking and definitely I miss the adventure. That is why when the CDO Bloggers Officers and Core especially Venus our VP Internal were thinking of an activity I did not anymore dare question the trekking. The plan was perfect - Goma - one of the organization's board members is into adventures and in fact that is his niche (blog topic). So, it was last November 24 when we trekked Mintugsok Falls.

Indahag - The Entrance Point

After our Habal-Habal experience with Ms. Grace of the famous MisOrJobs.com we’ve finally reached Indahag. (Whew! Our adventure start at the Habal-Habal ride) My first time in Indahag was when we visited CEPALCO Solar Plant and this time at the Centro Indahag which is now populated compared from the stories told by elders that only a few reside at Indahag. While riding the habal-habal, we’ve discovered that most of the Sendong (Typhoon Washi) survivors were relocated at Indahag – our entry point.

The Exciting Trail

Hidden at Indahag is an exciting trail and it was pretty much like a 3-days work out for me as we have to pass through its time sculptured boulders, river banks, big trees, and hills. The adventure was made more exciting when Jaqcs, Mike and I were left in the trail and Goma had to go back and fetch us.

The 2.8-kilometer trail is up and we've reached Mintugsok Falls, a hidden and unknown water falls in Cagayan de Oro. I have fallen in love with the place. It is a destination away from the bustling metro where you could really think and reflect. To add, even sleep on top of the boulders and relax. Nature, it is. I just felt sad and mad seeing those plastic cups lying around the vicinity. We should take good care of what we have and ensure that it’s untouched. My only wish that time was to ensure that it’s unexploited.

Overall, I enjoyed and learned a lot from the CDO Bloggers 2012 Trekking to MintugsokFalls. It was a day full of physical challenges. I'm proud to say I've reached Mintugsok and proven that Cagayan de Oro is not only the City of Golden Friendship but a reservoir and the City of Adventures!

Centrio called earlier today to inform me that they will be inviting the NorthMin Bloggers (Iligan Bloggers, Bukidnon Bloggers, and the Cagayan de Oro Bloggers) to the Advance Screening/Premier Night of the Phenomenal Movie of the Decade - Twilight Series - Breaking Dawn 2 - Cinema 2. The advance screening will be attended by Centrio Mall's guests and VIP and the movie will be opened to the public the next day. The Northern Mindanao Bloggers (CDO Bloggers, Iligan Bloggers, and the Bukidnon Bloggers) is honored to be one of the groups who had toured the much awaited mall in Northern Mindanao - Centrio-Ayala. A special shout out "thank you" to their Marketing and Operations Team for granting our request plus the exclusive tour. We had a good one.

Centrio pronounced as "sen-tri'yo" means (Cent) center or heart of the city and (Rio) spanish for river is 3.7-hectare, 3-level compact mall along in the heart of Cagayan de Oro's Business District - Capt. Vicente Roa St.-Corrales Avenue Cor. C.M. Recto Avenue with a condominium and a hotel. Centrio also mentioned that the malls estimated cost rose up to P 4.7 Billion. The mall heads also retained the 2 acasia tree that will be part of the Centrio Garden. Kudos! Their Centrio Activity Center can also host up to 300 people with an exclusive dressing room on the ground level (the basement parking lot). You will also observed on the opening day that they applied zoning per level and per entrance. The first level will contain - high end retail shops, food chains, book store and the first ever Rustan's Fresh Supermarket in Mindanao. The third level will host the Centrio Cinemas (3 cinemas with 200-seat 2D Cinemas and a 300-seat 3D Cinema) plus the IT zone and wellness area. Centrio Marketing also confirmed that 80% of the establishments will open on November 9, 2012 - Friday - 11AM.

My First Ever Halloween Party at RPM Bar

Yes, the RPM Halloween Party was the first ever “Undas” party I’ve ever attended. I was there together with the CDOBloggers Board Member Emma of ChadaCDO.com and VP Internal Venus of inCDO.com as one of their Halloween costume judges. Thank you RPM, we had such a good and tough time judging!

RPM is where you can bring your family, friends and meet new people.

RPM is the newest bar in town. RPM or Rhythm of Party and Music is conveniently located Capt. Vicente Roa Street -Agudo Road fronting Centrio Ayala Malls Capt. V Roa Entrance. They will be official opening their doors on the 9^th of November, same opening date with Centrio-Ayala Mall.

While judging we had the chance to talk to one of the owners. According to them, the place is also open to all bands for them to practice and to perform – no exclusivity at all. They call still promote their other gigs and events at RPM. One of their goals is to promote the local music industry.

It was unique during my first eve Halloween Party, I tell you, it wasn't just a place for the young adults, and there you could see “oldies” chilling out and families bonding together. This is the place where you can bring your family and meet new friends. Again, this is the place where music, friends and family converge together. Next time, I will surely explore what food they can offer.

Podcast Episode 9: Sen. Chiz Escudero Answers CDO Press and Bloggers

Last October 21, 2012, the CDO Press and Bloggers gathered together at the Kagay-anon Restaurant in Rosario Arcade, Limketkai Center to attend Senator Chiz Escudero’s Press con in Cagayan de Oro City. In fact, this is my second presscon. The first was for the 15 lawmakers that donated houses to the Sendong survivors from their own pockets!(kudos). I really made sure to attend the press con for me to have a view of what and how Chiz Escudero works for the public. I arrived late as I have to attend an important family event. The aura of the room was pretty much serious when I arrived and the attendees were already throwing tough questions to the Senator and Grace Poe Llamanzares ex-MTRCB Chairwoman’s son Brian Poe Llamanzares.

This is what I love about blogging as I get to attend events which broaden my horizon on different topics. I can say that after listening to Chiz Escudero for 45 minutes, I have a glimpse of how they work for us and how can they make the Philippines better. As a tax payer of this country, we should know where our taxes go.
