Después de descubrir aquí lo que se necesita en EEUU para ir a la tienda de la esquina, me animé a realizar el mismo recorrido en Chapinlandia. Un recorrido hacia la tienda de la esquina, diferente... no sólo en tiempo y distancia, sino en seguridad y ambiente.

Let the Game Begin...

Aunque este equipo no es mi preferido, por décadas me ha gustado su manera de jugar siempre a la ofensiva, además que este año han puesto muy en alto el fútbol español con su Segunda victoria en la Liga de Campeones de Europa.

Así que la oportunidad de presenciar en directo, en persona, en vivo, al bicampeón español y Campeón reinante de Europa no me la podía perder. Aquí en Houston, se hacía realidad uno de mis sueños deportivos y con este juego un chapin se llenaba de emoción. No fui el único.

Although this team is not my favorite, I've enjoyed their game for decades, and specially last year when they represented wonderfully the Spanish Liga with their Second Trophy at the Champions League

So the opportunity to watch live the reigning two-time champion of Spain and current European title holder was one not to miss for anything. So here in Houston, with this game a dream came true and this chapin guy was overwhelmed with emotion. I wasn't the only one.

Grandpa, his day.

En Guatemala el Día del Padre siempre se celebra en la misma fecha: 17 de Junio. Esa fecha, en 1912, nació mi abuelo. La última vez que grabé su cumpleaños fué en el 2000, pero no fue su último cumpleaños. En este video, sale mi hermana varias veces, y aunque mi mamá no aparece (pero si se escucha un instante) es a ella quien dedico estas imagenes y sonidos.

In Guatemala we celebrate Father's Day on an exact date all the time: June 17th. On such date, 1912, my grandfather was born. On 2000, I had a last chance to videotape his b-day, but it was not his last b-day. My sister appears several times throughout the video, and though my mom is nowhere to be seen (although she is heard, indeed) it is to her to whom I dedicate this images and sounds.

Cuando pensaba en el nombre para mi blog, muchas ideas pasaron por mi mente, pero sólo una tenía sentido. Todo lo que he sido, lo que quiero ser, y lo que hago, está ligado, para bien o para mal al hecho que ¡soy chapin!
