He called up dozens of people from various TVS service centers around bangalore….he spoke to the regional heads or something (by finding their numbers over the internet)…. finally one service center agreed to check the vehicle.

This guy checked the vehicle and again proclaimed that the battery was gone….but somehow…since daddy created so much noise about the vehicle not doing well…he managed to get the battery changed for free:)…

It has been about 2.5 months now and he uses thevehicle everyday. We are hoping that the change of battery will help it…and will last long this time.

Kudos to daddy for all that fight he put up!!!

And also…..he loves the vehicle…..!!!!

When I bought the vehicle in September 2008…they promised me that the battery would come upto 2 years minimum. Good maintenance will make the battery go longer..
It was just one year….1100 Kms covered totally by the vehicle…..and the vehicle stopped running. Got it serviced 3 times ….still no good. The guy who serviced it finally told me that one of the 4 batteries was not ok. it was draining the energy of all the other 3 batteries.
Now….if i have to replace this battery….I cant do it. I have to replace all the 4 batteries as the batteries are available as a set. The cost of this set of batteries is 9300 Rs…..which is about 1/3rd the cost of the vehicle.

The reason for buying TEENZ was that its running cost per KM was much lesser compared to a petrol vehicle. But now…if I see the investment I hvae made on the vehicle and that it lasted for only 1 year…..the cost works out much more than a petrol vehicle. also the investment is dead as I cannot use the vehicle without an expenditure of about 10,000Rs.

The spending of so much money again does not guarentee me that I can use the vehicle without any problems for 2 years.

When I purtchased this vehicle… I did a lot of research. I found another bike “Yo Bike” which was also an electric vehicle. As a matter of fact….this vehicle can be driven without license and they also promised a better mileage. I did not opt for thie vehicle for the simple reason that the company that manufactured it was not very known.

I wanted to buy a TVS vehicle as TVS is known for its quality. It is a six sigma company which has won awards for its quality. I was proud of a company which is completely Indian…..having won awards for quality.
But now I am having second thoughts…
I wrote to them…but got no reply….

I am very very disappointed with TEENZ of course….but also with TVS…. I had high regards for the company which I have lost now.

I wanted to be pollution free…or atleast less polluting….but I dont think Indian infrastructure…and the companies that support this will ever allow this to happen.
mind you….I also heard similar stories with the Reva car. I am not sure how far this is true…but there too the battery needs to be replaced 2 years once…and the cost of battery is extremely high.
My next wish was to buy a Reva….but now I have changed my mind. The vehicle initial cost itself is so high….and now when I think of all these extra expenditure that awaits…..I dont think I can afford to stop polluting the air…

 I tried my best to do my part…..but I am extremely unhappy to say that the government, reasearch organizations and the manufacturing companies are doing nothing to support people like me.

Carbon footprint is how what we do…influences the environment and climate.
It is about how much of green houses gases are added to the atmosphere because of  our activities . The green house gases are released when we do many things like driving our vehicle, making a bon fire, burning any other materials etc.

The carbon footprint is a measurement of all greenhouse gases we individually produce and has units of tonnes (or kg) of carbon dioxide equivalent.

The carbon footprint is of 2 types:
Primary footprint and the secondary footprint

1. The primary footprint – This is a measure how we directly produce greenhouse gases. Lets say when we burn something….just an example

2. The secondary footprint – This is more an indirect way. For example… If I use a porcelain cup….this cup was manufactured and then transported to the shop and then I bought it. There might be a lot of CO2 emission from the raw material stage of the cup, to manufacturing it till I use it and it breaks. Even after it breaks….to dispose it, there might be some gases released. All this put together makes the secondary footprint

Carbon footprint can be measured for an individual, a company, group of people…anything.

Now there are regulations in place and hence companies are consiously trying to reduce the carbon footprint. This in turn helps in going green.
The more synthetic stuff we use, the more the carbon footprint would be. The more bio degradable stuff we use….the lesser the carbon footprint…and hence the better for the environment.

I take out TEENZ only on weekends…..i am not sure if that is the problem….it is not regularly used and charged… I am going to start using it regularly (if at all I am able to ride it)….I don’t have any proper service people also near home…

I wrote to TVS…using the feedback column on their website…but I have no reply

I had the vehicle fully charged….put it on high range (i.e it wont go above 20km/hr speed)….I drove it all the way from BTM layout to hoodi in a constant 20 km/hr speed and it dint give me any problems. it was a 1 hr 10 mins ride….but i was so happy:))….my dear Teenz proved itself once again!!

The only mud Ganesha with the golden paint also is not good. The golden paint had lead in it…

It is good to buy complete mud ganeshas…

In Bangalore…you could get such Ganeshas in Ulsoor market…
last year I think they were also available in Jayanagar 9th block…

This time I decided that I could make some eco friendly bags. This would make sure that I dont distribute plastic bags and may also raise the awareness.

But unfortunately I dont think I have the time….

However….during this research for eco friendly bags… I found Urth Bags
These are paper  bags…but made nicely. I have not yet found how to make them. But they look cute…

If you have ground space in your garden….you can dig a nice ditch….
if not….you can use a drum or a bucket…or any big container

fill the container or ditch with a layer of mud….

whenever any dry organic waste is there at home…for example…vegetable peelings, grains , dried flowersetc….
you can put it in this container instead of throwing it in the dust bin…

keep the process of adding a lyer of mud now and then….

After about 6 months time…the organic wate would decompose and would form a good manure to plants. It is cheap…..and also…would reduce garbage at home…
