I took pictures of my dogs, my iced coffee, my self, Taylor’s bike,weeds,rocks,broken statues.

I also removed most of my Skype list and reconnected with some on my twitter list.

It was a good day. Lets hope more of them are.

(The coffee is dunkin donuts strawberry shortcake, which is surprisingly good with some sugar, especially iced. The nail polish is cheap wet and wild stuff, which means it won’t last two days, but the design is cute!)

Life, Lately

Doggies – Dazey beagle and Leonidas – life is oh so hard

That Teen – Prom

I noticed some things immediately:

1. Once I got rid of all the crazy social media sites I was following, my reader was a lot less full

2. That was pleasant

3. Most of the people I read don’t write much anymore

4. That was not as pleasant, though expected.  (If I write less it stands to reason other people who have been blogging for 5-10 years are also writing less)

5. People all sound just the same — and I don’t mean that in a good way, like they sound the same as they did when I started reading them

6. That was distinctly unpleasant

Some of my favorite bloggers have completely lost the voice that compelled me to read them in the first place and have begun to sound just like…

Well.  Whomever it is they’re copying this year.

And that is the biggest thing I noticed.  Everyone is copying everyone else.  All the reviewers are modeling themselves off of a few popular reviewers and all the sex bloggers are talking about the same bloody things over and over again.  It’s like a fucking wallow-fest out there of repetitive topics and people mirroring each other.

It’s all sort of amusing…  and unpleasant.

Time to clean more than the social media blogs out of my reader, I guess.

Nails? May be becoming an obsession.

I mixed a white and a clear, for a super sheer white, then added in a red glitter with rainbow flakey glitter in it.

Turned out okay. I think I need more of the larger rainbow chunks but I’m still happy with it.  Been wanting to do it forever!

Jawbreaker Mani

Serves: 4

Ingredients:
1 cups polenta
5 cups chicken stock
salt/pepper
¼ cup grated Parmesan cheese
2 tablespoons butter
16 ounces mushrooms of your choice– stems removed, quartered
2 cloves garlic – minced
2 tablespoons roughly chopped flat leaf Italian parsley
Instructions:
In a heavy bottom sauce pan bring stock to a boil. Add salt. Gradually and slowly whisk in polenta. Reduce heat to a simmer and continue cooking until polenta thickens. Stir with a wooden spoon as necessary. (You can also use a rice cooker to cook your polenta. I often do and I think it turns out even better) Once the polenta is cooked through, stir in parmesan cheese.*
While the polenta is cooking, heat butter over medium-heat in a medium sauté pan. When pan is hot but butter is not browned add in the mushrooms and cook until done. Add garlic and parsley. Stir to combine.
Transfer polenta to serving dish, and top with the mushroom mixture and a little extra cheese.
Serve immediately.

Creamy Polenta with Mushrooms

The original recipe uses vegetable stock and two specific kinds of mushroom.

*For this recipe, you do not want the polenta firm set but rather creamy and grit like.

Bleh. Not very green and, to me, it’s important to me to be green, to be eco-consious, to be good to the environment in as many ways as I can be.

Thankfully, things are totally different these days. We use more gadgets than ever before, sure, but so much stuff is rechargeable, I can barely remember the last time I threw batteries away. Maybe the last time my computer mouse died? And when it comes to sex toys, I can honestly say that I don’t have a single toy anymore that takes standard batteries. Every one of my old favorites has been replaced by a rechargeable version.

Even my old, standby bullets have been replaced by the Solar Bullet Vibrator. And, yes, I am dead serious. It’s a solar vibrator. Just like a calculator, it has a strip on the remote that charges via sunlight (or the regular lights in your house) and you never, ever even have to plug it in to charge it. I can take this baby camping. I can probably count on this thing to get me through the Zombie Apocalypse.

Believe me, when we’re all stressing out about Zombies, a little orgasm therapy is going to go a long way! People will probably be fighting in the streets over batteries and power sources and I’ll be calm in the midst of chaos, my little solar buddy tucked into my jump bag.

All kidding aside, though…

I know I’ve talked about a lot of different vibrators over the years. I’m not saying to run out and buy the Solar Vibe because you can’t live without it. I’m not saying it’s the best vibe ever.
