Hey everyone! Tonight's the night! As we get ready to support our favorite funny gal, here are a few tips and tricks to maximize the number of votes you can cast while still adhering to the NBC's rules.

First of all, a quick overview. If you're a wily America's Got Talent viewing veteran, you can probably skip this paragraph. However, we know that many of you were drawn in by Melissa and not necessarily by the show itself. If that's you, then here's how it works. There are three ways to vote: By phone, by text (for AT&T phones only), and by Internet. You get 10 votes per voting method. Therefore, if you have an AT&T phone, that's 20 votes right there. Each contestant is assigned a number, and at the end of the show, the voting window opens for 2 hours. Easy enough? OK, onward...

The easiest and fastest way to vote is via text. Even if you are not an AT&T customer, you can still use this to your advantage!! You may or may not have AT&T, but you almost certainly have friends who do. Furthermore, most text plans offer unlimited texts, and since there's no charge to send texts to vote for AGT contestants, this method is free for pretty much everyone. The best part? It takes less than 30 seconds to send 10 texts on most phones (especially smart phones), because on most phones, after the first text, you can usually just type vote(send)vote(send)vote(send)... (10 times), and you're done. The best thing to say to a friend is something like this: "Hey, I need your help with something. I'm supporting Melissa Villasenor, a really funny comedian who's performing on America's Got Talent, and she needs votes! It's free, and takes 30 seconds to vote for her 10 times. Will you help?" Most people are going to say yes to this (and if they don't, they must be Piers Morgan!) Once they do, let them know how to do it by saying something like the following: "OK, all you have to do is send the word vote to 48xx 10 times in a row and you're done. If you do it fast enough, you'll have all 10 votes in before you even start receiving confirmation texts." Easy enough? Every friend you talk to is 10 potential votes for Melissa. Note: xx is Melissa's contestant number, 01 thru 12, so if she were contestant 07, you would be texting vote to 4807.

The next easiest way to vote is by phone. Got a cell phone (regardless of carrier)? 10 votes. Got a land line? 10 votes. Parents/brothers/sisters/roommates/neighbors have a phone? 10 votes 10 votes 10 votes 10 votes 10 votes (and make sure they text as well if they have AT&T!) It's not quite as easy to vote this way as it is to text, but it's still pretty easy. You can knock out 10 votes per phone number in 2 minutes or less this way. The phone numbers will be posted on the show, but if you don't have access to a TV, check back here. We'll have you covered.

The most time consuming yet potentially most lucrative way for you to vote is via email. To do so, all you have to do is follow the links to the show on nbc.com. According to their rules, you get 10 votes per email address. Therefore, if taken at their word, those of you who have multiple email addresses (and who doesn't these days?) can get in a LOT of votes this way. Have a personal email? 10 votes. Have a school or work email? 10 votes. Have a personal email that you use to sign up for stuff so all your spam email goes there? 10 votes. Have an email that you haven't used in a year but that still exists? 10 votes. Another good thing about email is that the voting window for this method is the widest of all the voting methods, extending from 11:00 PM tonight to 6:00 AM tomorrow morning eastern time. That means that folks on the west coast can start voting as early as 8:00 PM using this method--a whole hour before the show even comes on. The bad part? It takes time. You have to cycle through 2 or 3 web pages for every single vote, and you have to enter in your email address every time. Copying/pasting helps, but it's still a slow process.

Hopefully this gives you some ideas for helping Melissa out tonight. It's going to be fun!

Melissa Villasenor impersonates... an original character?! (Plus an AGT update)

AGT Update!

This week's show is the Wild Card show. All acts this week are acts that were eliminated previously this season and are being brought back for one final crack at making the semi-finals. It's interesting to note that, of the 12 acts that are being brought back, a whopping 4 of them are acts that competed against Melissa in quarterfinal number 4. That's the most of any of the 5 quarter-finals (the only other one that is even close was week 1, where 3 acts are being brought back), and is further proof that Melissa was placed in the toughest group--and still advanced!

But on to the important stuff: The Semi-Finals! The 2 possible dates for Melissa's performance are Tuesday, August 23rd and Tuesday, August 30. As of right now, we do not know which one Melissa will be performing in. However, we do have a guess, and that guess is that it will be the 30th. This is based on Melissa's comedy performance schedule outside of AGT, as listed in this post from her official blog. Notice that she doesn't have anything booked on either the 23rd or the 30th, so no insights there. However, she has a ton of gigs booked leading up to the 23rd, and she also has a gig booked at 8:30 PM on the 24th, which is the same night as the results show. It would still be possible for her to make it to that, as the results show is done by 7:00 PM pacific time, but this would seem to be cutting it a little close. Contrast this to the week of the 30th, where she has no gigs after the 27th. She does have a gig on the same night as the second week's results show, but it isn't until 10:00 PM. So, based on all this, we're GUESSING that Melissa will appear in the semi-final on the 30th, but it is just a guess (and we've been wrong before). Either way, we'll be ready!

Update 8/21: Naturally, our guess was wrong again, and we now know that Melissa will be performing on Tuesday the 23rd.

Just in time for Tuesday's big show, the ranks of Mel's Minions have swelled to 1,000!

The timing couldn't be better, because finally, after waiting for what seems like forever, Melissa is performing this week!

Good. That gives this site one more week to ramp up, and now we know for sure that she performs next Tuesday, August 2nd. Our goal is 1000 Facebook Likes by then.

Hey everyone! First of all, if you're new to the VillasenorNation.com community, WELCOME! We've grown from just a handful of folks to almost 250 people (and counting) "liking" our Facebook page in just a few days!

There is a very good chance that Melissa is up on America's Got Talent this week. This is not confirmed, but upon "reading the tea leaves", it is looking more and more likely. Regardless of whether her appearance is this week or next, we will be here to help you spread the word to your friends.

Since this site's stated goal is to help Melissa win AGT, we promise to keep our posts on topic so as to not clutter up your news feed. If there's a cool feature or interview, we'll post that because those are great things to like and/or share to hook in new people. We'll also post anything relating to how to support Melissa on the show. These will include when to vote, how to vote, and anything else that we as a fan base can do to help her. Your job will then be to help spread the word by sharing/liking/retweeting/etc, because no form of advertising is more effective than word of mouth!

What we won't post are things relating to her shows and appearances outside of America's Got Talent. The only reason for VillasenorNation.com's existence is because Melissa CAN'T post anything related to AGT on her official sites and pages. Information on everything else she does is handled very well by Melissa herself on her official sites.
