Fort Worth Juneteenth events will be taking place everywhere, and if you have a few days to spare, you could be a part of the jubilation.

Juneteenth Parade & 5K Emancipation Walk on June 14 – Starting at Evans Plaza and ending at Cobb Street, both events will kick off at 8:30 am.

Oooh Baby! Meet Asha the One-Horned Rhino at the Fort Worth Zoo

Come meet Asha, the first rhino born in Texas.

You have probably seen a rhino before, but do you know anything about the one-horned rhino? If not, you should arrange a trip to meet Asha, the one-horned rhino at the Fort Worth Zoo. There are less than 2,500 of this species left in the wild. Despite this, the figure has risen from 200 at the start of the 20th century and with efforts from wildlife organizations and zoo’s, the number is steadily increasing.

So, what’s so special about the one-horned rhino at the Fort Worth Zoo? Well, Asha was brought into the world on August 16th, 2012 and she is the first of her species to be born in Texas. By checking out the Asian Falls exhibit you can learn more about Asha, her mother and how Asha’s birth was a triumph for the endangered species.

Registration Opens April 1 for the Fort Worth Zoo Summer Camp

Do you want some adult time during the summer, but have children to look after? If so, register for the Summer Zoo Camp, which is based at Fort Worth Zoo. Animals roamed the earth long before humans and what better way to teach your kids how to respect these wonderful creatures than by treating them to a summer adventure?

They’ll love spending time at the zoo this summer.

The Summer Zoo Camp stretches over nine weeks and kids from the age of three to the sixth grade are welcome. Exciting themed adventures will be taking place-your children can enjoy one, two or all nine weeks of fun!

Beginning on June 10th and continuing until August 16th, the camp involves activities, excursions, animal visitors and technology. All children must be toilet trained and camp times are as follows:

Three years old to kindergarten – 9:00 am to noon
Grades one to six – 9:00 am to 4:00 pm

You should prepare your child for the camp by packing comfortable clothing and shoes. Fees include craft activities, snacks, a t-shirt and tours. Prices are as follows:
