flickr-like Editing Fields Using AJAX & CSS

If you want to create flickr like edits in your webpage using AJAX and CSS then here's a nice solution for you to do that.

Here's how the edits happen on flickr.

Show user the data field normally (for instance: the title of a picture)
When mouse rolls over that title, make the background of the word yellow
If the user clicks on the word, change that word to a input box with the word in it. Also show a “save” and “cancel” button
A user can rename the picture and then push “save.”
Run a little script that updates the name into the database
Remove the input box and the buttons and return to the original title display (updated with new title).

You can go ahead and try the sample below which is actually hosted on the site "Dustin Bachrach a developer blog". I am just using an IFrame to show the demo right here.

JTip - Javascript Tooltip solution

If want to create a slideshow of your favourite pics on the web and get it up and running on your site in no time check out the TripTracker slideshow. Its a Lightweight JavaScript image viewer with an animated slideshow feature.

A lot of customization features are available. For example in the demo I have tried I have completely removed the toolbar that you can see in the above screenshot.

Click here to view the script in action. To exit from the slideshow just right click the mouse anywhere on the screen or hit the ESC key.

Beat the Monday Morning Blues

Oh crap!! Its Monday again. I am sure a lot of us (or rather all of us) feel this way on a Monday morning. And we all know its called Monday morning blues.But did you know that there is a scientific explanation for that.

Here's what an article in ehow.com has to say about it.

"Our internal clocks naturally operate on a day that is longer than 24 hours. By the time Monday rolls around each week, we've built up a sleep deficit of at least an hour. Of course, the weekend revelries and facing another work week don't help matters"

Roadside Romeo

Roadside Romeo is a forthcoming Bollywood animated film that will have Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor lend their voices to animated characters for the first time.

Written and directed by debutante Jugal Hansraj, who acted in films such as Mohabbatein (2000) and Salaam Namaste (2005), this will be the first animated film that is an India-U.S. co-production of Yash Raj Films and the Walt Disney Company. The film will utilize state-of-the-art computer-animation technology done entirely in India and will feature music, dances, songs and romance just like any other film produced by Yash Raj Films. The film will be produced by Aditya Chopra and Yash Chopra under Yash Raj Films and is looking at a release in the summer of 2008.

MP3 Players - Protect Your ears

Every day as I traveled to work I could see 6 out of 10 people around me all wired up to their mp3 players or psp or gameboy or mobile phones. All of them were lost in the world of music, games and what not. While my 45 minute journey to work was rather dull and lousy b'coz I didn't have anything to wire me up. So I decided to join the bandwagon. I got myself a new PSP. I can now play games, listen to music, watch videos and what not. My 45 minute journey just went away like a breeze as I started playing games and listening to my favourite songs all blaring loudly into my ears. Ofcourse I had heard that loud noises can cause damage to my ears. But then all the loud music from the songs and special effects from the games made it really exciting. After a few days I started getting this mild pain in my ears. Now that started to get me worried and I started surfing the net to find out "How Loud is too loud?" .

Ok I know that music is great to listen and enjoy. All that I want to say is listen to it but keep it low enough to protect your ears. Don't damage your ears forever.

Taare Zameen Par (English translation: Stars on Earth) is a hindi film directed by debutant director Aamir Khan. The film was written by creative director and writer Amole Gupte. It stars Aamir Khan in the main lead who plays the teacher to a dyslexic child played by Darsheel Safary. Also produced by Aamir, the film will have music by the trio, Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy with lyrics by Prasoon Joshi. A major part of the film was recently shot near the New Era High School in Panchgani. The film was released worldwide on December 21, 2007. This movie is declared Tax Free by Government of India and this is the only movie that has been declared tax-free just five days after its release.
