For good reason though, because it is something I am really excited about as well as passionate about. Well, I finally heard back from admissions and….

I got my conditional acceptance!

Victory is mine!

So what does conditional acceptance mean? Well, it means that my transcripts as of right now, as well as my GPA are good enough for enrollment. However, I am missing science prerequisites that need to be taken in order for me to get my official acceptance.

Here is a breakdown of how it works:

I need to first complete 12 semester hours of my prerequisites.

Once that is completed, I submit the updated transcript to the committee.

They will review again to make sure I kept my GPA over a 3.0.

I get my official letter of acceptance in the mail.

Complete the rest of the science classes

Being NUHS the fall of 2015.

Why 2015? Well, I still need to finish my Bachelor’s degree which I am set to graduate this December. In the state of Florida, even if you have your DC, you cannot practice Chiropractic Medicine without a Bachelor’s Degree. So this is something I cannot overlook, and must complete prior to formally enrolling in the DC program. 2015 is also the latest possible time frame of being completed with my science classes. I can always move that early if I need to, but I gave myself the most time to complete them to ensure I don’t overload myself with studying as well as work.

Class Breakdown:

Ah yes, I’ve got quite the list of classes in my future.

In two weeks, I’ll begin the Summer semester of which I am taking my last elective for my business degree (!!!), and then I’ll also be taking College Algebra. For those who know me, you know that math is not my thing but I need to get through this class in order to even take my science classes. This will be interesting. Now that I am taking Algebra with a real goal in mind, I think it will be a lot easier to wrap my head around.

As you can see, all of the pieces are in place. I haven’t really even been able to celebrate my conditional acceptance yet, just because I have been so busy wrapping up the Spring semester. Thankfully, that is over and I’ve got two weeks off! I don’t even know what I am going to do with myself with all of this free time I have.

Oh, I know.

HOUSE PROJECTS!

Wooo!

For that time period, I didn’t have any more of my symptoms. No migraines, vertigo, nor did I have blurry vision. It was amazing.

…Then I thought it was a good idea to haul crap out of the garage. (Note to self: Just say no to manual labor.)

Bye correction, it was fun while it lasted.

The migraines started to creep back. Thankfully, not nearly what they were at - but they started to come back. I dealt with it for about a week until I went to my standing appointment at the clinic, and got another correction. Right after it was done, I could instantly feel the blood rushing to my head, and pumping through my veins. One of the reactions can be sweating, and that is exactly what happens. Crazy, right? Afterwords, I had to wear my cute little neck brace for three hours in order to stabilize the adjustment. Now, I just have to watch my range of motion and protect the correction. I’ll gladly do that based on the fact that I am feeling right as rain again. That is a miracle to me, especially since we had roofers working on the house this weekend. If I hadn’t of had my correction on Friday, I would have been miserable.

While I was at the clinic, my doctor mentioned writing my letter of recommendation for my application to NUHS. (Eeek!) Sometimes, I think he’s more excited than me at the prospects of going. But that’s because I’m terrified by ANY possibility of not getting in. Dr. Stan doesn’t have that same feeling, which makes sense because he hasn’t seen my transcripts and how much I suck at Math. I digress. While talking to him, he mentioned how he would really love to have me on board at the clinic so I can have more experience while in school and that is something they are working towards. What? They want to hire me? Not only that, it honestly seems that when I do finish Chiropractic school that I do have a job opportunity already lined up. That kind of security is really bringing a nice calm, considering how expensive the tuition is. Come the Summer, I will be shadowing at the office and learning the ropes of practical treatment even before I start taking classes. What a value. Honestly, as much as I suffered with the migraines – I am so happy that it happened because I was able to gain relief from so many other ailments, but also find a path to follow.

As for an update in regards to the admission process - They have all of my paperwork. They’ve got the transcripts, recommendations, application and essays. It’s in the transcript department being evaluated, and then the next step is set up the phone interview. My admissions rep thinks we’ll have our phone chat by Friday. Once the phone interview is completed, I should get my results soon after. How scary.

Even sportin’ a neck brace, I’m still trying to pull a Tyra Banks and “smile with my eyes”. You won’t see any legitimate smiling out of me until my braces come off. Also, I’ve been told it looks like a scarf. It’s been about 90 degrees in Florida. Believe me, I’m not wearing a scarf.

That ends my little update in regards to treatment, and as well as the application process to NUHS. I’ll be posting about our new beautiful roof soon! My goal was to take pictures on Sunday evening, once they finished, but of course it rained. (Love you too, Mother Nature.)

I couldn’t wait to be in my 20′s so that everything would regulate, and I would have clear skin. When my 20′s came, it became painfully clear that my acne wasn’t your typical teenage acne and that I would be stuck with it forever. If it were a few pimples here and there, I would be okay with it. But I had the pleasure of cystic acne, which is awful, painful and very hard to cover up. If you are unfortunate enough to have cystic acne, you know exactly what I’m talking about. Not only was the acne an issue, very oily skin also made things about 100% worse. Add Florida’s humidity into the mix, and awful things happen. When one of my best friends, Audra, suggested I try out Paula’s Choice, I figured “Why not?” At this point, I had tried every option from Sephora, Ulta, and even the dermatologist. Whether it was cheap, or expensive – you can be sure that I gave it a shot and had no real long-term results. So what’s this Paula’s Choice, you ask? It was created by Paula Begoun, also known as the Cosmetics Cop. She and her staff have built an empire tearing down the ingredients found in store-bought skin care products and determine whether or not it is actually good for you. When I first took a look at BeauyPedia.com, I was APPALLED and what I was putting on my face and what it could cause long term. Not only that, the most top rated products at Sephora are actually awful for you. At the time, I was a loyal user to Philosophy’s Purity Made Simple face wash. It was mild enough and took off my eye make up with ease. I had no real issues with it, so I kept buying it. Then I read this:

This cleanser is overloaded with irritating ingredients. The fact that it is listed as “Best of Sephora” merely means that lots of Sephora customers are using a cleanser that is hurting their skin. Fragrant oils are abundant in this cleanser, and all of them contain volatile components that are irritating to skin. Philosophy also included black pepper extract, just in case the fragrant oils weren’t irritating enough. Those of you who use this cleanser may not see the irritation it causes because most of the irritation is taking place under the skin, where collagen is being damaged and free-radical damage is being generated, but it is happening nonetheless. For the health of your skin and your beauty budget, please consider switching to a truly gentle water-soluble cleanser.

What? You mean to tell me that I’ve been swearing by a face wash that is actually just destroying my collagen? I may only be 27, but I do think of the long-term effects of products and how my skin is going to age. I was devastated when I read this. Once this realization hit, I took every bit of skin care products that I owned out of the bathroom and searched for their ratings. If memory serves, I think I kept all of 3 things out of about 20. All of my Philosophy products, as well as Dermalogica products were a bust. Here I am, struggling with acne, using products which were making it worse – and now officially have to start over. This is where I want to offer my undying love for Paula Begoun, because she saw the need for skin care products that were actually good for you. Which is why it is called Paula’s Choice. In September of 2012, I started out by trying her Clear Blemish Control line, which is dedicated to those who suffer from acne. The starter kit has a cleaner, an exfoliant, and a blemish treatment. To start, I used the cleanser and the exfoliant twice a day, and the blemish treatment at night because I did not know if it would dry my skin. Within a week’s time, I could already see a difference. The inflammation of the cystic acne had gone down, and there was much less redness to my skin. After two weeks, I began using the blemish treatment twice a day, and that’s when it really started to kick my acne’s butt. Two months later, I felt like I actually had clear skin. By that time, I had gone through one hormonal cycle without any real issues and I was beyond giddy. Now, April of 2013 – it is with great pleasure that I can say that I no longer have to deal with the horribleness of cystic acne. Do I still get a pimple here and there during my cycle? Of course, it lasts all of a day or two which is completely fine by me. So what am I using? Well, seeing as how I do have an addictive personality – once I find a good thing, I run with it. I’ve come a long way since Paula’s three piece Clear Line, and have completely revamped my skin care regime to help with long-term results.

Weekly

Monday: Skin Balancing Mask

Wednesday: Use my Clarisonic Brush with my cleanser. You don’t want to use a Clarisonic everyday because it can be too abrasive, and also make sure not to purchase a too rough head for it.

Yes, I am fully aware of the fact that I am probably crazy for having so many steps, and products. But, it works. Once I got the acne under control, I couldn’t wait to incorporate more products into my regime to help in preventing wrinkles, clear up those pesky black heads, and most importantly - normalize my oily skin. You may have noticed nothing in my above items have SPF in them. Don’t worry, I’ve got that covered. I was using the Paula’s Choice Mattifying Moisturzer with SPF, however, the formula didn’t work well with my skin. They have since reformulated it, but I haven’t tried it yet. My go-to foundation primer is by Hourglass and that has SPF 15. The primer works amazing well to help foundation last all day, and it does not oxidize my foundation at all. For that, I am ever so happy. Now, I can finally be proud of my skin! Granted, I’m never going to leave my house without make up on because I look 12, but I can leave the house with much less make up on than I ever used before. Not only that, my skin doesn’t get nearly as oily as it did before, so that means less touch ups and no shiny forehead syndrome. That is why Paula’s Choice has changed my life, because I am so happy and content with my skin.

Now, because I love my readers (especially if you read this WHOLE post), and I love Paula’s Choice so much that I feel a giveaway should be in order! Woo! I’m giving one lucky winner a $25 gift card to Paula’sChoice.com so you can fall in love with her products as much as I did!

Without my cell phone, I would probably miss a lot of moments that I’d like to save forever. As much as I love my Canon Rebel, it’s impossible to lug that around all of the time – but with my iPhone and Instagram, I’ve got it covered. So what’s been going on with us lately? Well, let’s have some Instagram photos break it down for ya!

Picture #1: For whatever the reason, I feel like Andrew goes though pants like no other. So every couple of months, with coupon in hand, we head over to JCPenney’s and stock up for the upcoming season. Last weeks shopping adventure was dedicated towards shorts (it is getting hot already!) and new work pants. He was giving a little fashion show in the fitting room, and I captured this gem of a photo. He’s so handsome, sometimes. Haha!

Picture #2: For Valentine’s Day, Andrew bought me the most perfect ring from Cat Bird. However, because of the weather they had in February, it was delivered late. And then on top of that, it was the wrong size. I only just got it last week! It is the most precious thing in the world, and I absolutely love it.

Picture #3: We go from Cat Bird rings to real deal kitties. That would be Nokomis, not leaving me alone even when I’m in the restroom. Don’t get me wrong, she is adorable and I want her around all the time. But give me a few moments to myself, please?

Picture #4: My new babies! I’m obsessed with Rebecca Minkoff, so when Gilt Groupe had a RM sale and these beauties were marked down to $100, I couldn’t say no. Who could I? I’ll tell you what, they are probably the most comfortable pair of shoes I own and since they are both brown and black, I can wear them with anything. LOVE!

Picture #5: The doozie. I did it. I submitted my application for Doctor of Chiropractic at NUHS. My transcripts have been requested and are being sent over. My letters of recommendations are in the work. In about a month, I’ll know what the future will hold. To say that I’m nervous would be an understatement. Just have to put positive thoughts out there, and hope the outcome is what I want. Eeek!

If you don’t follow me on Instagram, you are missing out on awesome photos of our cats, and usually of my face. :-)

Yes, I remember it well because I lived it and hated every second of it. Now, I can happily announce that we had rid ourselves of the JUNK!

Originally the plan was to have a garage sale, and whatever didn’t sell – we were going to donate. But you know what, we don’t have time for garage sales. Between work and school, and getting my application ready for NUHS – the last thing I wanted to contend with was a garage sale. With that Andrew suggested, “Then let’s skip it. No need to stress about it. Let’s just donate it and rid ourselves of the junk.” I had to mull over the possibility of losing extra cash, but you know what…we decided the money wasn’t worth the headache in our lives right now.

So…we unpacked the garage. (For the millionth time)

And we took everything out of the buckets and started bagging.

Bagging and condensing. More bagging and condensing.

Look at that face! So happy to be getting ready of the junk that has been burdening us for over three years now.

We bagged until we couldn’t bag anymore and packed up the truck. Don’t you worry, by the time he drove off into the sunset, the back of the truck was filled to the brim as was the cab. Not enough room for me to go with him!

Happy to report that this is all we are left with! Woooohoooo! A few more things do have to go, like Andrew’s old hockey gear. We decided we are going to take that to Play it Again Sports some time this week, just because it was pretty expensive and still in good shape. But aside from that, we are done. I practically have enough room to do a jig now!

Having this under our belt feels so good. It’s been weighing heavily on both of us for months now, and so happy to have it tackled. I’m sure a year from now, we’ll go through the buckets again and find more to get rid of. But for now, it is good!

What project did you tackle this weekend?

<del>Buy two piece ceiling medallion to mount with chandelier</del> (This way we can avoid painting the ceiling. The paint still looks good, except for the area our old light fixture was.)

<del>Buy new double sconce for above vanity mirror</del>

Buy new vanity mirror

Patch holes and old back splash to prep for painting

Paint walls turquoise

Hang new sconce

Hang new mirror

Once that list is done, could it be so that the project is done? I think so, for now! Of course I’d like to re-finish the cabinetry, but that is something in the future especially when we have so many other projects going. After getting everything on that list done, the bathroom will be much cleaner looking and more “finished” looking that I won’t really even pay attention to the cabinetry. That’s really the trick, right? Fix everything up around one thing that you don’t really pay attention to that one thing. Yes, I quite like that logic.

I did a once over the mental list, I clicked on over to HomeDepot.com and finally bought the medallion. It was only 20 dollars. 20 dollars. I waited a year to buy something that was 20 dollars. This seems absurd to me considering Gilt Group had a Rebecca Minkoff sale of which I did not blink twice at buying a few things from. What is my problem? Maybe it’s more fun to buy shoes and purses then it is to buy things from Home Depot? Only in the instant gratification department. Don’t worry, I already know I’m certifiable crazy.

So now with two major components on the way, I’m getting really excited to see the end. Hurry up and get here April! I am ready for you light fixture! We’re leaning towards painting when we already have the light fixture in the house, ready for install, that way we don’t have to uninstall, install, and uninstall and install again. Doesn’t seem like a good use of time. Or is that our way of procrastinating? The world may never know.

Happy Monday, everyone! I’m looking forward to taking this week, and kicking it’s butt. If if that doesn’t happen, well…I’ll take a nap instead.

It’s Thursday! That means tomorrow is Friday and thus brings us the weekend. Praise the baby Jesus. I am so excited to sleep in, it is not even funny. For some reason, this week has seemed to drag on and on. But at the same token, it’s gone by so fast and I can’t seem to catch up on everything that needs to get done.

Big shout out to Ellen for winning the Shabby Apple giveaway from last week!

So what does my life consist of at the moment? Or just in general? The thing about blogging…you only get bits and pieces of a person’s life so sometimes you walk away not really having a sense of them. Hopefully this post will change all that.

Some of you know that I work at a dental office. I’ve been here for 7 years now, and very grateful to have a full-time job that allows to the opportunity to own a home with Andrew, and buy shoes. But, dentistry isn’t my passion and I took the job initially to get me through college. Little did I know it would take me this long. I took a semester off here and there when we got married or when we bought the house. Plus, a few major changes and here we are 7 years later. A few months to go til my degree is completed, however…I am continuing. Yes, you read that right. And no, I am not crazy!

You see, when I finally got treatment that rid me of my migraines, it was like the sky opened and said “THIS IS IT!”. I’ve been working towards a degree for the sake of having a degree, but with no real desire to do anything with it. Business is great and all, but I’m not passionate about it. Having the experience I had at the chiropractor with the atlas orthogonal treatment, it completely changed where I want to head in life. Granted, it’s going to be a long while til I can apply because there a lot of science prerequisites to take, I’m so very excited about the prospects. Sometimes its overwhelming to think that there is no light at the tunnel when it comes to my education, but I’m happy I found this now rather than much later in life.

Did I ever mention my love for hockey? So much so that I have a Tampa Bay Lightning tattoo? If you’re a hockey fan, you’ll know the that it’s a life style. I think about 25% of my closet is dedicated to Lightning gear. Andrew and I went the same on Tuesday night against the Sabres. It was the first time in a long while where they were just beasts on the ice. Fights, goals, and more fights. Honestly, it completely recharged the Bolt Battery because the team has been lagging for a while. (Also, welcome to Tampa Coach Cooper!)

We are obviously a hockey family. If only I could get little outfits small enough for the cats, but that might be creepy right? …… Right.

Anyway, that’s just a little blip into what’s going on in my world right now. Have a great weekend!

When Andrew was in the shower this morning, I was doing my morning face wash/tone/exfoliate/and moisturize routine. Just a usual Monday morning with us trying to get ready at the same time. But this morning was a little different, because I was apparently in a fog (at least more so than usual). Once I was done with the face routine, I high tailed it out of the bathroom because it was getting too steamy and flipped the lights off in the process and walked out into the kitchen to feed the cats. When I finally walked down the hallway again, I realized the lights were off and he was still in the shower. Instantly, I busted up laughing and I said “Why didn’t you say anything!?” and he said “I wanted to see how long it would take you to realize!” That in itself made me laugh even more, because he knew I was only half awake and it would be a while. Nothing like a little shower in the dark, right?

So what’s going on in the Evans’ household as of late? Well, a whole lotta not much it would seem! Since Spring Break is over, my classes are back in full swing again and boy, it is stressful! For some reason, when I signed up for Operations Management, I never thought it would involve math! I just figured I would write papers about theory, and not calculate things. Oiy veh. I’m so thankful that Andrew can pick up on that kind of math easily and help me with it. Those of you who are following my Instagram know that when I say “help”, it means he’s actually doing it while my brain shuts down at the thought. At least it gives me the mental break I need to get cracking on my Project Management class. I just have to keep telling myself that by December 2013, I’ll have my Bachelors and there is light at the end of the tunnel.

But then there is that whole applying to Chiropractic school thing?

So…I’ll be in school the rest of my life. No big deal. But that’s a whole different post in it self.

Because school is kind of kicking my ass right now, it’s hard to find time to do any fun projects around the house.

HOWEVER!

Fab.com had a great sale a few weeks ago with art blocks by an artist named Lora Zombie (In my head, she’s related to Rob…but I don’t think that’s actually true.) My BFF Christina sent the sale my way because she fell in love with a block featuring the all-mighty Tom Waits. Then I saw this one…

Leave it to me to find the piece of art with a cat in it. Add to cart was clicked within a second. I just love cats so much, I can’t help it. We’ve got this cutie hanging in our bathroom now since it totally matches the chandelier and the shower curtain. Now, I just really need to find the time to paint the bathroom turquoise, and it’ll be fully revamped!

I would say that I’m excited to get away from the cold days of Winter, but living in Florida…we don’t really have that. Believe me, I’m jealous of every single blogger that has been posting pictures of snow on their Instagram account. I crave cold days, but that may be because of my lack of experience nor have I ever seen snow. I’m sure I would change my tune if I actually lived in a northern state, but I’m 100% sure that anything is better than sand!

So what are your Spring time plans? Were there any projects around the house that you’ve been itching to do, but weather got in the way? Andrew and I have a lot of those projects, but with him working a lot of weekends – our large chunks of time to do said projects is few and far between. No more weekend warriors here at least until the snow birds go home! But that’s not going to stop us from at least doing a little Spring cleaning and planning.

Remember many moons ago, how we cleaned out our garage and it looked amazing compared to what it was? Well, over time…it kind of went back to awful again. A few months ago, Andrew had a garage sale at his Dad’s house, and whatever did not sell ended up in our garage. We had a brilliant idea of having our own garage sale with our stuff, and what was left of his Dad’s. However, like I mentioned before, we simply haven’t had a weekend to do it. Now our garage looks like a bomb went out. We can also add insult to injury based on the fact that Andrew went camping not too long ago, and none of the camping gear has been put away to where it came from. At this point, I have about a foot of room to get laundry done. That makes me so incredibly cranky.

Let’s go back to a time where I had enough room to do a jig in the garage:

And now for what it looks like currently?

Now you know why Spring cleaning is a high priority for us. We are hoping to have a garage sale the first weekend in April, assuming work schedules allow it. What doesn’t sell is getting donated, and we will probably have the most empty looking garage in the world. Guess what? I’m totally okay with that, because there is nothing I find more frustrating than cleaning the same thing over again. Hopefully we can break that habit this Spring.

You can gather that I’ll be posting a lot of pictures of how cleaned out the garage looks after that garage sale. You may even find a video of me power jammin’ in the garage, because there should be plenty of room. Now, I must ask you – what are you Spring cleaning plans this season?
