Show a little of the compassion you seem to have for other types of oppression. I have never heard the "n-word" used in an acceptable way by anyone of non-African-American roots. It is disrespectful. It makes me ashamed when I hear friends or family members using the word, and makes me wonder how they could possibly think it's okay. Yes, it is "just" a word, and I agree with the philosophy of that thinking, however, the fact remains that it has a history of negative usage and bad feelings attached to it. It's not your place to say "when" anyone should just get over it. But keep up the whole free speech thing, by all means. Makes great conversation starters.
