I never personally liked to hike. To me, that didn’t feel like a workout. So when my wife asked me to go hiking, I told her it didn’t feel to me like a workout, so I did sit-ups and pushups prior.

I have been an athlete all my life. And the site of spending all this time walking up a mountain and then coming back down, seemed a little boring, to be honest.

So this morning she took me to Runyon Canyon by the Hollywood Hills. I had an amazing time! It was an incredible workout, took us a little while to get up the mountain, and we did three miles in a short time…all in the beautiful California sunshine.

I look forward to exploring hiking trails all over the world. Had no idea what I was missing. The view, the mountains, the workout…I love my wife!

This is the first time we visited Fortaleza, Brazil. We were very excited to see this beautiful country. Came to Brazil 12 years ago during our honeymoon (yes, we are crazy! – we went to Rio de Janeiro) and now it was time to come back and visit beautiful Northern Brazil – Fortaleza.

Fortaleza doesn’t host a lot of American tourists – it is a fairly virgin territory for travel bugs like you and I…so you still find the town in its core, its true beauty and culture. People are absolutely beautiful inside and out and we came here during December which is a great month in the summer to visit and spend New Year. 80 degree weather, beautiful beaches, great food…just be prepared that most tourists here are Brazilian, a small percentage European…and we have met zero americans while here

Right before leaving for the new year's celebration...

Always accustomed to US traditions and the US way of being…and assuming everyone else operates in similar ways, we didn’t do enough research to find out how people spend New Year’s in Fortaleza. Yay! We are ghetto-fabulous lol…

So we thought every night club in Fortaleza would be open for New Year’s. They also had two huge parties/concerts by the beach. One of them cost R 900 (Reales) which is $450 dollars (ouch expensive!!) per person which included a live concert by Chiclet and Banana (have no idea who they are but they are big lol). They were expecting 1600 people and we don’t like big crowds so we decided to go to one of the two hottest clubs in Fortaleza, Orbita or Mukuripe.

The other festival by the beach included fire works and many concerts and it was $20 but we didn’t want to go cause they were expecting huge masses and half of the town would be there. Married to a former police officer, he does not like big crowds, so we opted for the smaller, more private choices. My amazing husband below…wearing my flower and his beautiful Ecuadorian hat.

Sexiest man alive, my hubby Dave

So it was about 1030 pm and we decided to go to Orbita and take a cab. At this point there was a lot of traffic and cars were moving slow. We got to Orbita and the club was closed!! Notice the concierge told us to go there but concierges don’t really speak English so we were communicating in Spanish/English bits and pieces. Concierge at Grand Marquis hotel was not that helpful specially because he only spoke portuguese (note to self: when going to a country that not a lot of Americans visit, prepare yourself to speak that language or be very uncomfortable). Then we went to the second club and it was also closed. What the heck? We are never used to this! Why would a club close during the hottest holiday and opportunity to host a lot of people?

Because Fortaleza is very very traditional and we didn’t know this, but everyone goes to the beach for new year!!!!! So….by this time it is close to 1130 pm and we are settling thinking we will spend the new year in the taxi cab. Sigh….we were shocked that the two biggest clubs would be closed. We were stuck in traffic between all the people who are parking and walking to get to the fireworks.

Crazy traffic as people rush to the fireworks...

So we said: “if we can’t beat them, let’s join them” and we asked the guy to take us to the beach. So we arrive to the beach and about 90% of the people at the beach parties are wearing WHITE!!! Guess what we were wearing: “oops, we were in black” probably the only Americans here and the only people dressed in black. We were laughing so hard because we didn’t get the memo. Everyone was staring at us thinking why in the heck are those people welcoming the new year in the wrong colors.

Everyone dressed in white...

Nothing like showing up to a party like the Southwest commercial: “Wanna get away?????”

At this point we just had so much fun. Got our glass of champagne 5 minutes before the new year. Everyone was letting balloons go in their beautiful white dresses, shirts, and outfits…and making wishes for new year while watching the fireworks and being by the beach in 80 degree weather…

It was truly a magical moment we will never forget. Just remember the cute ones that were dressed in black – note to self: “ask the concierge if there are any special traditions if you are there for a holiday” or else be willing to be the different ones…standing amongst a sea of beautiful people dressed in white…

Having the time of our lives!!

Well, this weekend I tried something I’ve never done before. One of my great friends, Cheryl Watson inspired me so much because she loves nature and has been hiking trails around the world. Although I love exercise, I’ve never really done long hikes. My friend Cheryl hiked 2663 miles in a five month period from Mexico to Canada (yes! 5 months!) – she hiked 25 miles a day for that length of time!

9 Mile Hike!

So we brought a big group to Colorado for a big Entrepreneur event, and we decided to do some fun things! We did a Cowboy and Indian party, we did a Golf Tournament, then we created an optional 9 mile hike along the Peaks Trail in Breckenridge, going from Breckenridge to Frisco, Colorado!

The only long term thing I have ever done is a half marathon, twice last year, Hawaii and Florida…and I’m not a runner, or an athlete, so that was a challenge in itself.

Well, it was EASIER THAN I THOUGHT! We did it, it took us 3 and a half hours and it was amazing. Some things that were not so fancy about this trip: we were at 10,600 altitude, our lips were chapped, if you need to go to the bathroom you need to go in the wild (and bring toilet paper lol) – and you need to carry your water!! So bring a back pack with lots of snacks, water, chapstick, etc.

We did it!! 9 Miles!

Some fun things I saw (remember, I’m a city girl, lol): a camp thief bird (which steals food from campsites and stands on food even in front of you, daring little birds..a tree struck by lightning (the only burnt one in the forest, and lots of trees damaged by beetles which could cause dangerous fires in Colorado, due to the drought.

I felt like I burnt over 2,000 calories, all while having fun, didn’t even feel the time go by…and we felt an amazing accomplishment when we were done! Here are the rest of the photos in my facebook, enjoy!

As we traveled to the beautiful country of Greece we had to stop in Athens and see the famous Acropolis. It stood high above everything else. At night the lights would brighten up the majestic monument. During the day it was pretty hot outside and we had to put on our hiking boots in order to climb up to see the Parthenon. The structure had been destroyed and while we were there we observed several cranes. We were informed that they were restoring parts of it but will never have it completely rebuild because then that would also be changing history.

It amazed us how these huge boulders were brought all the way up the the mountain. We were informed that the ancient Greeks had a system to carry these large boulders. They used placed trees on the ground and would roll the boulders one by one over the trees that they used as wheels. Also one theory on how they were able to put one boulder over the other to create such a high structure was after each boulder they placed they would put earth around it so that they could put the next. So literally they covered each column with dirt and after they got to the top, they would have to remove the dirt. Estimates is that it took about 20 years to complete the structure.

Truly amazing experience and if you are in Athens you must go visit the Acropolis and see the Parthenon. We loved the Greek culture and especially the food. One of our private tours told us that just about everything some how came from the Greeks, from words, to food, to sports. So in the words of the famous movie, “My big Fat Greek Wedding,” “So there you go.”

My first time in Greece. WOW!! Little did I know I would visit heaven and experience one of the top 3 vacations in our entire life. And this comes from someone who vacations for a living…with a little over 56 vacations under our coat during the last five years…

When I talked to my mentor John Assaraf he mentioned that Santorini was heaven…I didn’t know what he meant until I got here. There is a certain magic about seeing all those beautiful places in white and blue…the people are amazing…the food is incredible…and there is a certain peace and magic in the air.

We got to see the most gorgeous sunset of our lives. And we got to stay at Vedema Resort in Santorini, one of Starwood’s luxury properties, where Angelina Jolie just stayed. Nestled on top of the mountains and with a 400 year old winery at its center, we strongly recommend this beautiful property!

To rock or not to rock, that is the question. Well, the Hard Rock All Inclusive Five Star Hotel invited us to sample this beautiful resort in Punta Cana. You will get many blogs from this trip, but first things first, THIS IS THE BEST SAND IN THE WORLD SO FAR! And we have visited Fiji and many exotic places. The sand is soft as baby powder, white as snow…the water is aqua blue…you can play beach volleyball all day long and fall all day long and not be hurt…the sun is powerful and beautiful…this is truly paradise.

The Hard Rock Hotel room is fairly large and you will need to walk around a bit. Our best experience so far was the RED party by the beach last night, pictures will be coming out shortly!

The #1 Golf Course in the world — and also the most difficult one is here. LOL. Dave bought three boxes of balls to prepare for this! This is the BEST place to let your hair hang down…and enjoy the beautiful walks every morning. ENJOY!!

This years WV/Rovia International Spectacular took place at the Paris hotel and casino in Las Vegas, NV. 17 countries attended the incredible event. The Paris hotel and casino hosted over 3000 people at our event. It started off on Friday with some great announcements regarding the greatest travel club in the world. The Travel club has over 250,000 members worldwide, with over 400 vacations priced exclusively at dream prices for it’s members. They announced a monthly 8 day 7 night cruise for only $199.

Friday night we attended a recognition event where everyone dressed up to the nines. The company recognized it’s top sales reps for 2010. It was great to have the Diamond member access for the Paris hotel as it saved us at least 45 minutes at checkin. Diamond members have a special VIP room that avoids the long lines. Also a private Diamond lounge that provides free drinks to it’s members. Highly recommend getting the diamond card while you’re at the Paris hotel and casino. The rooms were very nice and spacious as well.

On saturday we had another day of great training and announcements. Rovia gave away a DreamTripper award that went to the member who took the most dreamtrips in 2010. The member who won took 16 vacations. Can you imagine getting an award for taking the most vacations? Saturday night we attended the Hawaiian and Beach party with 3000 of our friends and family. Everyone dressed up as if they were on vacation in Hawaii. We were entertained by a live band and our two co-founders Mike Azcue and Wayne Nugent body surfed in the crowd, truly an amazing moment. Then our good friend Monico Perez DJ’d the night at the after party with several hundreds dancing the night away until 4 am.

Sunday we hung out at the cabana at the Paris pool. It was peaceful and relaxing and we were able to take in a lot of sun. We captured and experienced many great moments and the video we created captured some great moments including Thursday night taking our top executives Gabby Delgadillo, Abrahan and Traci Dellova. Can’t wait until the next years event.

Take a tour with us as we traveled to Egypt with our incredible peer group, Tony Robbins Platinum Partners. As we visited Cairo, Giza, and Luxor. We took a bus ride from Cairo to Luxor which was fun as we got to see many different parts of Egypt on our way to our Nile river boat ride. We saw many ruins that were breath taking in the city of Luxor. As we walked through the city where we could see and feel a country that is seeking a better way of life. We witnessed a tremendous amount of history as well as poverty. I felt very safe with the group we were with but was also very aware of our surroundings because of the rough areas we walked through.

As we embarked on a Nile River Boat cruise we were met by our captains. Two young men who were friendly and spoke broken English. They made us lunch on the boat and made the experience so much fun. One of the Captains started to play some music on the boat and Yvette and he began to dance Egyptian style. We had a blast and all the other boats wanted to know what was going on as we cheered and laughed the entire time. We almost ran into another boat because we were having so much fun and the captains lost track of where we were going.

This day was memorable day and as we finished our cruise our captains taught us a creating Egyptian song that we ended our day with. As they say a day is not wasted if a memory is created. We created many great memories this day. Thanks Jeff Roberti for leading us in our final cheer!!!

Seven years ago Yvette and I made a decision and set a goal to one day join the Tony Robbins Platinum Partners. This is a group of extra-ordinary Entrepreneurs and professionals that play life at the highest level. It is a large investment of both time and money. The focus is to continuously learn and surround yourself around a peer group that holds eachother to a higher standard all the while contributing to each country we visit. Whether it’s visiting and giving much love to an orphanage like La Esperanza or going to visit a wore torn country like Israel and spending time with a program that is brining peace through a youth sporting program, bringing palestinian and Israel families together.
However, on a police officer and government employee salary, we could not afford it financially nor could we afford it time wise. We learned some incredible skills from Tony Robbins and more importantly starting to believe in ourselves and what we were capable of. We applied what we learned and began to add value to the market place. The more value we added the more our life changed and progressed to the point where in 2010 we were in a place to join Platinum Partners. We realized that the only thing holding us back from accomplishing whatever it is we want in life is the 6 inches between our ears.

We have taken several Traincations (getting trained while on vacation) with Tony and his beautiful wife sage and will be bringing you with us through some videos we created of our experience. The Traincations have been inspiring and has changed our life from what we have experienced and learned from our travels with Tony Robbins and the Platinum Partners. We will take you through the journey and share with you some never seen before footage in hopes it will inspire you on what’s possible for you and your family. This first video was our fist day in Egypt 2010 with Tony Robbins and the Platinum Partners. We were flown by a private charter from Israel to Egypt where we had a wonderful first night and experienced and Egyptian welcome and dinner. That night many of us went on a Nile river boat ride and created some great memories. Enjoy.
