Without a funded proposal, are you a sucker?

I realized pretty early on in this game, that buying leads and cold calling was a complete waste of time.

At least it was for me.

I’m not a natural salesman, and I’ve never been able to ‘talk someone into the business.’

Plus, I’m a pretty shy guy.

So I was glad when one of my earliest mentors gave me this piece of advice:

So I took his advice.

Besides, I’d rather work with the people who already want to work with me, that’s why getting good at marketing is key.

If you’ve ever bought leads, you’ll know what I mean, you need a funded proposal.

You call them up, and 99% of the time they have no recollection of filling out any form requesting more info about a business.

In fact… I think most network marketers who buy leads would be SHOCKED if they knew where they were coming from.

I was once at a private party with some of the top earners in our  industry, and I met a guy who owned one of those lead broker companies.

After a few beers, I asked him straight out:

“Dude, level with me.  Where do you guys get all those leads you’re selling people?”

And his answer shocked me.

He told me most of them came from the CPA networks (cost per action), and explained it like this:

And the affiliates, being money hungry, start thinking to themselves…

“Gee.  I wonder if we could get more people to fill out these forms if we offered them the chance to win something, like an ipod or something…”

So along comes your future ‘lead,’ who fills out the form to try and win the ipod…

… and then 3 weeks later, some poor network marketer who’s just getting started calls them and says:

But you know what amazes me about all this?

There are still trainers in our industry who teach this stuff.

They tell people to go and buy leads and ’just keep it simple.’

Well it may be simple, but it sure as heck isn’t effective.

How else do you explain the 97% failure rate in this industry?

Now I’m not saying that you can’t build a business with cold calling.

You can.

But if you’re like me, and you’re not a natural born salesperson, and you don’t like the idea of being rejected 99 times before you get a ‘yes,’ it can be hard.

It can be very hard indeed.

If you continue to buy junk leads and cold call, you’re only making things harder than they need to be.

It’s much, much easier to build your business by generating your own leads using a funded proposal system.

Leads who actually want to hear from YOU, and about your business.

Not some random stranger who filled out a form looking to win an ipod last year.

The best leads money can buy are those who are already searching for you.

If you’ve built up a brand around your name, and you’ve achieved ‘guru status’ then these are the leads you focus on.

But if you’re not yet a ‘guru,’ then the 2nd best leads money can buy, are those already searching for your network marketing company.

Chances are, there’s someone right at this moment doing their research on your company, and looking for a mentor.

Are they going to find you?

Or will they find someone else?

If your marketing strategy does not currently target these people, you are missing out big time.

But before you target them, you need to have your own funded proposal.

One of our most common problems is procrastination.

We know what we want to do and should do. But still we end up spending hours upon hours doing “easier” work or escaping via TV, blogs, or music.

Now, there is nothing wrong with a little escape from time to time, but if you procrastinate too much, you will not get the most important things done, and you will also send yourself into negative spirals where your self-esteem plummets, and you spend your days in a vague, negative funk.

So what can you do?

Here are 7 tips to help you to stop procrastinating and start living your life more fully.

1. Stop thinking, Start doing.

A bit of planning can certainly help you achieve what you want to achieve. A lot of planning and thinking tends to have the opposite effect.

You think and think, and try to come up with “the perfect plan”. A plan where you don’t have to make mistakes, where you will never be rejected, where there will be no pain or difficulties. Such a thing does of course not exist. But as long as you work on that plan you can protect yourself.

2. Don’t blow a task out of proportion.

By over thinking and putting things off you are not only trying to protect yourself from pain. You also make mountains out of mole hills. The quotes above are so true, it is not even funny. The more hours and days you put something off, the worse it grows in your mind.

Because you are dwelling on it, it expands in your mind, and since you are putting it off, you are probably thinking about it in a negative way. This turns a little thing into something very big, a horrible beast that is threatening to ruin your life.

So plan a little and then take action.

Often you don’t even have to plan, you have been there before and you know what needs to be done. So stop thinking and just do it no matter how you feel and what you think. How you feel right now changes as quickly as the weather, so it’s not the perfect guidance system for anything. And you don’t have to obey what it says (since it’s not chains made of iron). You can just do what you know is right anyway.

3. Just take the first step.

When you start to look too far into the future, any task or project can seem close to impossible, and then you shut down because you become overwhelmed, and start surfing the internet aimlessly instead. That is one of the reasons why it is good to plan for the future, but then to shift your focus back to today, and the present moment.

Then you just focus on taking the first step, today. That is all you need to focus on, nothing else. By taking the first step you change you mental state from resistant to, “hey, I’m doing this, cool”. You put yourself in a state where you become more positive and open. A state where you may not be enthusiastic about taking the next step after this first one, but you are at least accepting it. And so you can take the next step. And the next one after that.

The thing is, you can’t see the whole staircase anyway, and it will shift and reveal itself along the way. That’s why the best of plans tend to fall apart, at least a bit, as you start to put it into action. You discover that your map of reality doesn’t look like reality.

4. Start with the hardest task of your day.

Maybe you have an important call to make that you also fear might be uncomfortable. Maybe you know you have gotten behind on answering your emails and have a big pile to dig into. Maybe you have the last five pages of your paper to finish.

Whatever it may be, get it out of your way the first thing you do.

If you start your day this way, you will feel relieved. You will feel relaxed and good about yourself. And the rest of the day – and your to-do list – tends to feel a lot lighter and easier to move through. It’s amazing what difference this one action makes.

5. Just make a decision. Any decision.

We feel bad when we sit on our hands and don’t take action because it’s unnatural. The natural thing for us to do is to be a decisive human and take action.

When you procrastinate, you want to do something but you don’t take the action. You then become conflicted within.

What you do always sends signals back to you, about who you are. Sure, doing affirmations where you say to yourself that you are confident can help you, but taking the confident actions you want to take over and over again is what really builds your self confidence and self-image of you being a confident person. When you procrastinate you lower your self esteem and send signals back to yourself that you are a kind of lame and indecisive person.

6. Face your fear.

I think this is true. It’s easier to live on that “someday…” thought. It’s harder to just take action. To risk looking like a fool. To make mistakes, stumble and not avoid that pain. To take responsibility for your own life.

The easier choice can come with a sense of comfort, with a certain level of success, pangs of regret for all the things you never dared to do and a vague sense of being unfulfilled. You wonder about what would have happened if you had taken more action and more chances.

The harder choice gives you, well, who knows? But it will sure make you feel more alive.

7. Just finish it.

Not taking the first step to start accomplishing something can make you feel bad. But not finishing what you have started can also leave you in a sort of negative funk. You feel fatigued or stressed and sometimes you don’t even know why. It’s like someone zapped your inner power.

If that is the case, go over tasks and projects that you are currently involved in. Is there something there you know you want to finish but, haven’t yet? Try to get that finished as soon as you can and you will start to feel a whole lot better.

Just be careful. Don’t think you have to finish everything you started. If a book sucks, read something else. Using this as an excuse to quit something that feels hard or unfamiliar is not a good idea. But there is no law that says that everything has to be completed either.

Don’t procrastinate when it comes to your education either. If you’re in network marketing/direct sales, then one thing you might notice, is that the people who become overnight successes, are usually very good with people, and are also very comfortable with selling.

They’re the people who will get up on stage at events, and have no hesitation speaking to a room full of people.

And the best ones ooze charisma… they attract others to them like a flame attracts moths.

The problem for me (and a lot of others), when I got started, is I wasn’t one of them.

I was always the kid at high school, who’d try to blend in, and not get noticed.

And, I carried that shyness into my twenties…

So what do you do, when you’ve just turned 62 years old, you’ve invested your entire life savings into a direct sales business, and now you’re expected to go prospect strangers?

You struggle through it painfully.

And after 9 months of persisting with it, doing all the things my upline was  telling me (approaching friends and family, handing out flyers, putting up posters at your local shopping center, etc.) I had made not one sale.

NOT ONE!!

Can you imagine what that’s like? Working day and night, for 9 months straight, knowing you have your entire savings at stake… and at the end having NOTHING to show for it?

And the whole time, the people close to you are telling you to ‘stop chasing dreams’ and to ‘just get a job.’

So things got pretty rough there for awhile… and I really started to doubt my ability to succeed in business.  Maybe I didn’t have what it takes…

But, there was light at the end of this tunnel.

You see, around the same time, I’d begun studying direct response marketing.

Not just as a casual observer.  But with intensity.  I’d go to sleep at night listening to audio programs by Dan Kennedy, Jay Abraham, Gary Halbert and other legends of the industry.

And I started to think like a direct response marketer.

I started to ask better questions.  Like, “is prospecting strangers really the easiest way to build my business, or is there a better way I could get leads?”

Now, in case you don’t know, the whole point of direct response is to bring you a prospect who has the 4 P’s.

They are:

• Pre-motivated (they’ve actively shown interest in finding a solution to whatever  problem they have, that your product solves)
• Pre-qualified (meaning they’re not just tyre kickers, or mildly curious about what offer. Instead, they’re quite serious).
• Pre-sold on your offer (they already have a high level of interest, and you’re not trying to ‘convince’ them of anything)
• Pre-disposed to do business with you (instead of your competitors)

And I realized that doing things the old fashioned way, like chasing friends and family, prospecting anyone with a pulse, etc, was getting me leads who did not have the 4 P’s.

In fact, they didn’t even have one!

In order to get a prospect that had the 4 P’s, I’d have to create a sales funnel, or as we call it in network marketing, a ‘funded proposal.‘

Every single top earner in the industry had one, so they were getting the best leads, and weren’t dealing with time wasters like I’d been dealing with for the past 9 months.

Now, because I was not exactly the most ‘technical’ guy in the world, and didn’t know how to build websites, etc. back then, putting together my first funded proposal took me a long time, about 4 weeks.

I had no idea what I was doing, so I just modeled the same funded proposal I saw the top earner in the company using (it’s pretty funny in hindsight, mine was exactly the same as his, except I’d replaced his name with mine!).

And I’ll never forget the first time my funded proposal brought in my first big ticket sale.

It was for slightly over 5K… and that was just a month or two after I’d completed it, and made some tweaks.

After having nothing to show for 9 months of work, it was nice to finally get a taste of success.

And now being shy and not very good at prospecting strangers was no longer a problem.

So, why am I telling you this?

Because if you’re like me, and you’re not one of those super charismatic people who can come into network marketing and recruit a 100 reps in their first 2 months, then perhaps you should consider putting together your own funded proposal.

Now, you don’t need to go and spend 4 weeks doing it, like I did.

It only took that long for me, because I had no one to show me how.

Here’s EXACTLY what I’d do to make my first 1K online…

Building a business online…

It’s very much a numbers game.

Let’s say that your goal was to make your first $1,000 online, but you could only work part-time (since you’re already busy).

If I were you, here’s exactly how I’d do it: 

First, when building your own email list, your average subscriber is going to be worth around $2-$5 per month.

That’s assuming you are marketing to them, recommending good products as an affiliate.

You can find thousands of products to promote on a site like ClickBank.com (and of course, you only promote good products that help people – no crap).

Or, you can even promote Matt’s products where he will pay you 50% commissions on everything, which means you’ll get a minimum of $48.50 for everyone who joins the Inner Circle through your link.

Next, you need to build a list.

You need an audience to sell to.

Let’s stay on the safe side… and say your average subscriber is worth only 2 bucks a month.

Therefore, you will need a list of around 500 people to make that $1,000 per month.

That means we have to get you to 500 leads asap…

Now you can do it with SEO, but that’s gonna take too long.

Personally, I suggest you go with Facebook PPC.

Right now, I’m approaching the point where I’ve spent a lot on Facebook ads, and as long as they continue to perform, I’ll happily spend more.

So that’s what I would do if I were you, Facebook PPC is working very nicely right now, and is still cheap.

Now to get someone on your list… you’re going to need to spend around $3.50 per lead (based on my own testing).

Sure, you could get cheaper… but I’m assuming you’ve never done much Facebook PPC before, so you’ll be learning as you go.

25 leads / day is more than possible, even if you’re new, but you’ve got to be willing to spend the money.

Let’s say you are serious, and are willing to spend $90 a day.

I know that a lot of people won’t  be willing to spend that…

…but you’ve got to get serious here. Are you here to build a real business, or just play around?

If you want the big bucks, you’ve gotta get in the game.

You can start with less and scale up… but if you’re all about Speed (like me) then you’ll want to get to 25 + leads daily asap.

With 25 leads daily, you’re now looking at a list of 175 by the end of the week.

Within 3 weeks… you’d have 525 people on your list.

And there you go.

There’s your list of 500 (since a few will unsubscribe, and give you fake email addresses).

Now to get your $2-5/ month from each lead, you need to be marketing to them on a regular basis.

And again, only good products that help them. If you promote a bad product… they won’t buy from you again.

For email marketing, I recommend Aweber.com - it’s what I used when I got started, and is cheap too, you can try it out for just $1.

(By the way, I just promoted my affiliate link for Aweber, so if you buy it, I’ll make around $5 per month for as long as you continue to use it. I’d recommend it even if I wasn’t an affiliate, but I’m just making a point).

Now with your emails, you need to be writing with personality, not just sales pitch after sales pitch, otherwise people tune out.

If you’re not much of a writer, that’s ok. You’ll get better with practice, trust me on that.

Since you’ve spent 1,750 to build your list… and since you’re now making a minimum of 2 bucks a subscriber per month… (or 1K per month), it’s going to take 2 months before you are making a profit…

…after those first 2 months, you’re pretty much making bank.

Each month, that asset (your list) can pay for your groceries, rent, and who knows what else.

But don’t stop there! Keep building that list, always focus on growing it.

My biggest regret over these past few years, is I didn’t do something everyday to build my list. And it has cost me… so don’t make the same mistake that I made.

Now, I’ve given you a very rough outline here.

But if you follow what I’ve outlined, then it’s possible to get to 1K a month pretty quickly.

What would you do with an extra 1K at the end of every month?

If you want to take it beyond 1K a month… to possibly much more, there’s a few more details you’ll need to know about email marketing.

Such as writing emails that sell, segmenting your list, promoting launches, etc…  If you get good… then you’re average subscriber value won’t be worth $2… it will be more like $5. Which is a big difference.

What is your opinion? Does GoDaddy Suck?

Honestly!

For myself I have never personally used GoDaddy, but I have been on their site several times helping others with different aspects of their accounts. Each time I have found it to be very difficult to navigate the site.

This could possibly be from not using the site all the time and getting really familiar with it, or it could be as most of the people I know that have used their hosting say, and that is “GoDaddy Sucks.”

Now this is only my opinion based on what I have heard from friends, mentors, and others that I have worked with since starting out in my Internet Marketing career…

Here is an email I received from the latest to fall to the wayside cursing profusely about GoDaddy and the experience he is just now hopefully getting straightened out with this hosting company… This email is from one of my mentors and here is what he had to say…

I would be interested in hearing your opinion…

That is the email I received this morning after all of his sites had been completely shut own for more than two days and even redirected to some company in China towards the end as your heard him say in his email above. Now as a marketer, I can understand his frustration with it all, but also as a marketer I had a lot of paid advertising pointing to his products myself and there is no way to calculate the losses we both had with the sites being down and the traffic that clicked and left, never to return…

Like I said earlier, I have not had any personal issues with GoDaddy since I have chosen not to use them from things like this instance that have happened to others in the past. Even though I did not use them, they still affected me because of my marketing of other peoples sites, and losses of revenue due to the amount of time a site was down…

Whether you have had good or bad results with GoDaddy, I would like to see your comments below. I am sorry, but from what I have seen and what I have heard from colleagues and others, I myself do not have any use for GoDaddy…

Do you want to know why it is so important to work with the right people in business my friend?

I’m going to share something with you today that can make you A LOT of money if you put it to use.

You see, I have undergone a few ‘transformations’ in my own growth over the last few years in business and within myself. And to share this lesson with you I’m going to let you in on a little bit more of my story!

When I was first starting out in network marketing…I was a total NEWBIE. I was wet behind the ears, had no clue what I was doing, no clue how to influence people, no clue how to be a good network marketer, build relationships, or do so many of the things that actually lead to success in this industry.

To tell you the truth, I started to get Desperate! It was almost like my feelings of self worth, and my identity, were attached to how successful I was in my business.

If someone rejected my business…I felt like they Rejected ME.

If someone signed up in my business, it made me feel better about myself.

Of course, there was a lot more rejection than signing up so you can imagine how I felt most of the time! Ahhh the good ole days.

So here I was, bumbling around like this for MONTHS on end in my business. Coming from the WRONG psychological state that actually creates success…and I ended up only attracting people to my business that were in an even worse off state than I was.

It seemed like every time I talked to a chiropractor, or business owner, or someone who I felt HAD influence…I would always bumble it up. I would always say something or do something that messed up the situation.

And you might know how it feels when you do that…you feel like you just screwed everything up! You feel like you might have just messed up your business forever because you missed that one great prospect!

(Haha, this is FAR from the truth. Even though it doesn’t feel like it at the time…there are more people on this planet to join your business than you could EVER sponsor…)

Eventually I just became ‘Traditionally Defeated’. I just couldn’t do it anymore. I was so scared every time I went to prospect another person who I didn’t know or who didn’t want what I had to offer…that I just couldn’t do it.

I was completely ineffective. But from that…an AMAZING thing happened. ‘I started seeking solutions’…

I DID NOT give up on myself. And there’s something powerful in that statement so let me repeat it in a different way.

After 10 months of total and miserable failure…I did NOT give up on myself. (hint about success)

Instead, I sought solutions. Now here’s where the REAL psychology gets interesting…

I eventually learned that I needed constant and steady lead generation to build my business and that using technologies like the Internet are HANDS DOWN the easiest ways to do that.

But, it wasn’t like my success just sprung up instantly because I had that realization. In fact, looking back at it, there was this ‘Crucial’ development period that MADE ME into the entrepreneur I am today.

Looking back…I see that SO MANY of the experiences I went through in the beginning of this industry, and even internet marketing, were really there to help me build my value.

I was learning so much from these experiences, growing so much from my PROLONGED effort and pursuit of knowledge in our industry… that my own ‘VALUE’ just started to increase and increase.

All of a sudden...it was Easier for me to talk to people who had more influence. All of a sudden, it was easier for me to hop on the phone and influence people MYSELF.

The more my OWN value grew inside…the more I found I could network with and influence other POWERFUL people.

And make no mistake my Friend, you will be MUCH more successful if you go after people who are more influential and powerful than YOU are.

The reason why is ONE very strong leader…can build a larger organization than if you signed up 100 not so strong leaders. It happens ALL the time.

The key to ALL of that though is this…you have to develop yourself to that level FIRST if you want to attract someone like that to you!

You have to fill yourself with so much value…that it’s apparent to everyone who is around you just how much you can offer them.

I did this by becoming an AVID student of technology, marketing, mindset, leadership, self growth, and many other things.

I literally DEVOTED myself to developing in all of these areas, and before I knew it I was ‘naturally’ networking with the BEST OF THE BEST in this industry. Other leaders were naturally choosing to work with me and join me in business because they saw firsthand just HOW MUCH I actually had to offer them.

The funny part is, before the Internet I had no background, no internet marketing experience, no business history to boot… I had absolutely nothing.

I entered this industry knowing no one and nothing about how I was going to be successful.

It’s a funny world right? Who would have known you can basically learn a few key principles, put yourself out there on the Internet, and completely change your life in less than a few years.

Well, that’s what YOU have staring you in the face.

I’ll bet you are wasting your time right now!

I’m willing to bet that right now, there’s just 1-3 activities in your business which bring in sales, and the rest are just wasting your time.

These are what you should be focusing on.

Everything else, is just wasting of your time.  And every minute you spend doing the many activities that don’t directly contribute to your bottom line, is costing you.

I spent many years studying different courses, before I got to the point where I could build my online business full time.

And although I didn’t learn much… a few lessons have stuck with me.

One of these is the concept of ‘opportunity cost’ from economics.

Opportunity cost is defined as the:

‘The cost of passing up the next best choice when making a decision.’

So, if you list out all the most profitable activities you have in your business, and rank them from most profitable to least, you might have a list like mine:

• Creating and hosting a sales webinar
• Product creation
• Writing emails to my list recommending products
• Sales on the phone
• Writing a sales letter
• Writing ads
• Putting together new campaigns

… and so on.

And then at the bottom of that list, you’ve got all those activities that might feel like they’re important… but don’t do jack for your bottom line:

• Trying to figure out how to build a website
• Responding to email
• Chatting on Facebook
• Talking on Skype

… and so on.

Now, every single time you do the activities at the bottom of that list, you are using up your time (which can never be recovered), that could have been spent on activities at the top of your list.

That is the opportunity cost.

And I promise you, it’s costing you a merry fortune.

You need to stop doing those activities as soon as you can, so you can focus on what’s important.

You need to learn how to outsource.  How to leverage ‘Other People’s Time,’ (O.P.T.).

Once I finally ‘got this,’ I started outsourcing as much of my work as possible.

And funnily enough, my income started to climb, fast.

Learning to outsource is a whole new skill set in it’s own right.

I have to ask, “Were We All Lied To About This?”

I don’t know about you, but when I got involved in network marketing back in 2008, I grossly underestimated how difficult it was going to be…

You see, I was so sold on network marketing, that I assumed that anyone I showed the plan to would be as well.

But soon, 9 months had gone by and not one sale had been made.

Not one!

I got really fed up with it, but I couldn’t just walk away, I’d invested too much time and money into it.

So I had to figure out a way to make it work.

Like Einstein said, 

“The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over, and expecting a different result.”

So I switched tactics.

I decided, instead of listening to all the gurus who were telling me, “Just follow the system” and “Don’t reinvent the wheel” and “you just need to talk to more people.”

I began to study what they actually did.

And most did not follow their own advice.

Instead, they had a cheap information product, like an ebook.

They sold that ebook to people for say, $50.00.

The profits they made from those sales covered their marketing expenses, which meant they were essentially getting free leads!

(Their leads were actually their customers).

They would then recruit new distributors for their team from that customer base.

This is what’s called a funded proposal, and just about every network marketer who has ever made over $1 million in their business is using one.

Once I discovered this… I began to work on creating my own.

At first, it was difficult, because I had no idea what I was doing.

So it took me a good few weeks to do my first product… 

But I’ll never forget what happened when I launched it online.

I started getting lots and lots of leads, and the money I was making from my front end product almost equaled my marketing bills.

Because of this, now I could grow the business much, much faster…

Frankly, there’s so much crap online these days, with people claiming to have made a gazillion dollars in just 5 hours of discovering a ‘secret system,’ that even I don’t believe half of it.

Your product doesn’t have to be anything fancy either.  My first product was a simple word document I wrote, that I saved as a pdf and sold as an ebook.

I sold it for $49, and maybe about 1 in 20 leads actually bought it.

I would then call my new customers, and that was how I found people to partner with.

It’s much, much easier than trying to recruit Uncle Bob or the lady behind you in the grocery line.

I just have to ask you this question. “Are They Really Still Teaching This Crap?”

I just got off the phone with a coaching student of mine.

She’s in network marketing.  And she’s not doing so well.

So, she goes to her upline, and asks, “can you please help me, because I’ve been doing this for over 7 months now, and I’m not sponsoring anyone… what am I doing wrong?”

Her upline says, “you just need to talk to more people.  Have you been through your list of friends and family?  Yes?  Go through them again… work that list.”

Sponsoring becomes a cinch.

Sounds simple.  And it is.  But putting it all together requires quite a few steps.

“All you care about is money” she said… Yep, that’s what she said alright.

I once had a very angry lady yell at me, and say ”all you care about is money!”

Why?

Because I would not get on the phone with her and help her for free. I told her she’d have to pay my hourly rate, which is $175.

I don’t give away my time for free.  And neither should you. We are all here to make money, even her!

Time is the one thing that we can never get back.

But, in some respects, that lady had a point.  She accused me of being money driven.

And you know what?  She was right.  And I don’t apologize for it one bit. I am here to make money.

It is my right to pursue a profit.  And it’s your right too.  

So don’t ever let someone tell you different, or try to make you feel guilty about wanting to make money online.

Now… while we’re on the subject, I’d like to share a true story with you that happened to one of my mentors.

What my mentor is saying in his story is true.Here is an example of a testimonial I got from a coaching client…that has nothing to do with my commissions…

Does it really matter which way it goes, make money and travel or travel and make money?

I would rather think not…however I think no matter which way it comes about the end will be the same.

Let me tell you a short story about how I came to understand this concept of make money and travel…

Anyway that brings me to the realization that MLM companies are not a very secure investment and I really didn’t like that kind of selling anyway. Too much work, too much time spent, and too little rewards…income.

That is when I learned my first lesson and found out there was a better way and that was marketing online. So I dove in head first and started learning how to market online and generate my own leads that were calling me to find out what I had and what I could do to help them.

So, that brings me back to my point about make money and travel vs. travel and make money…

I realized that there is a lot of money to be made on the Internet and how much of it you make is determined by how you go about making it. You can still do the MLM and make small amounts of money, small commissions, even if you are marketing online you are still only going to make small amounts of money…

That is when I learned my second lesson. In order to make money and travel, a person needs to get into a higher ticket business…

So make money and travel. What does all of this have to do with make money and travel?

How many people do you know that own a Timeshare or that are thinking about buying a Timeshare property?

In most cases they would be able to use that property one week a year? The purchase price would be in the thousands of dollars and sometimes hundred’s of thousands of dollars. And on top of that yearly maintenance fees, even if they don’t use the property…

Do you think those people would buy that timeshare if you could show them a way they could get 10 weeks a year for under $5,000 or 20 weeks each year for around $12,500. Yes and that is a one time cost. No extra maintenance fees and not be stuck going to the same place every year. Could go anywhere in the world…10 or 20 hot weeks per year.

You want to hear the best part? Your weeks at these 3,4, and 5 star resorts are only going to cost you anywhere from $399 to $799 per week. Yep that’s it! Even if you priced these same resorts through Expedia and their best price guarantee, you will be saving 50% to over 90% off their best prices…

Look at a couple examples here… The first one is a Timeshare property. Now I want you to notice that these are all for the same property, just different means of using them?

The second example is of the exact same property as a rental through Welks Resorts of San Diego and it sells for (I could only find a one bedroom) $3440.88 for the dates of Mar 16, 2012 to Mar 23, 2012.

For my third example I will show you that you can get the exact same unit as the timeshare and the exact same dates Mar 16, 2012 to Mar 23, 2012 as the rental except we can get the two bedrooms through Global Resorts Network that was not available in the example above.

So let me get back to make money and travel. There are two travel packages available and this is where it gets really good because not only are you saving a bundle on your travel, I am going to show you how you can make money and pay for your travel package almost on your first trip.

Travel package #1 is 10 hot weeks for a total one-time charge of $4,995 and that is for a lifetime membership. 10 hot weeks which are specially priced weeks, but you are not limited to just one week, you can use your membership for 52 discounted weeks per year for life…

Now when you sell travel package #2, you will get a $7,000 dollar commission and the so on…same as above…

“What if I’m new, and don’t have a list? Can I still make it online?”

Here is a Question from subscriber:  

This is a question I get asked ALL the time… and it’s a question I’d ask myself a lot when I got started back in 2008.

Here’s the thing:

If you do want to make a full time income online, then you kinda do need an email list.

That’s the bad news.

The good news is, you only need an email list of around 500 people to start seeing some decent results.  And once you get past the 3,000 subscriber point, you now have an asset that can make you a full time living, IF you know how to market to it properly.

Now… you may be thinking, “500?  That’s about 450 more than I’ve got right now!” Or maybe even 500 more than you’ve got right now…

But don’t worry, I’m going to show you how to get to 500 in just a few weeks.

Here’s the mistake most people make:  

They look at the ‘gurus’… people with lists of 100,000 +

And they think, “what chance do I have of ever getting that many leads?”

And that’s the problem.

How do you eat an elephant?

One bite at a time, right?

So, you don’t focus on the big number of subscribers that the guru has.

In most cases, they’ve been at it for years and years.

Instead, you focus on little numbers, compounded over time… which eventually grow into very big numbers.

Let me give you an example.

Say you wanted to build your list to 500 email addresses.

And say that right now, you’re getting about 2 or 3 leads per day.

Well, the first step is to start aiming for a number that’s a small step up from where you’re currently at.

Let’s say you aim for just 5 leads a day.  And, you give yourself 7 days to get to that level.

So with 5 leads per day as your focus, you choose one method for getting traffic, such as Facebook PPC, and you work at it until you reach that daily target.

And throughout all of this, it’s crucial that you MEASURE.

As they say, “what gets measured, gets managed.”

If you’re not measuring, you will not improve anywhere near as fast as you could be.

So each day, you record the number of leads you got in a spreadsheet.

Once you reach your target of 5 leads a day, you celebrate.  

It’s important you reward yourself along the way… for me, I like to go watch a Movie or go for a drive through the mountains…

If I overcome some small challenge (like hosting a sales webinar and exceeding my sales target), I’ll get in my car, drive down to the local cinemas, and put my feet up for a couple hours.

Anyway, after you reach that daily lead target, you increase it slightly.

So, if you’re now at 5 leads per day, you aim to get to 7 leads per day, within the next week. That may not seem like a huge improvement, but trust me, in the long run, it is.

Once you get to 7, again, you go reward yourself.

You then aim for 10 leads per day.  And so on.

Are you getting the picture here?

By making small incremental improvements, you’ll start to build a decent sized list.

With just 10 leads per day, for just 7 weeks straight, you’ll build a list of 500.  Not bad.

With 20 leads per day, for a year, you’ll build a list of 7,300!

See how these numbers begin to add up?

Of course, once you build that email list, you need to know how to write compelling emails that get your audience to buy.  

And that’s a whole new skill set in itself, and a very important one.

One of the most common questions I get from people is regarding promoting product launches as an affiliate, when you don’t have a list.

And they are all good questions, which I’d ask myself too, back when I was first starting out and had no list.

Here are my answers:

Now let me explain.

First, size is not everything. (guys around the world rejoice)

No, I’m not talking about that.  I’m talking about the size of someone’s list.

Right now, my list is in the thousands. Yet I consistently beat the gurus in product launches who have lists of over 50,000+.

How’s that possible?

Because more important than size of your list, is the responsiveness of your list.

Some of the gurus who’ve built lists of hundreds of thousands, have pummeled their lists for years with offer after offer… while never adding any real value to the lives of their subscribers.

As a result, there list is pretty much dead.

They send an email to 100,000 people, and are lucky to get 2,000 opens, and a few hundred clicks.

Whereas with my list, I’ll easily come close to matching those numbers, because I’ve built a strong relationship with my list, have earned their trust, and they know if I’m promoting something, then it’s the real deal.

So don’t get too hung up on the size of your list.

Now, as for the third question about competing against other affiliates with much bigger lists, (when you have no list at all), let me show you how…

First, you need to put together a bonus blog, which is a simple Wordpress site that outlines your bonus offer for anyone who buys the product through your affiliate link.

(by the way, I show you how to do this in Module 2 of Affiliate Bonus Domination)

And then you need to get traffic to that bonus blog.

But not just any traffic.

You want the best traffic, the traffic of the top 10 and top 20 affiliates in the product launch, that already know about the product launch.

They’ve already been marketed to.

And in many cases, they’ve already made the decision they’re going to buy, when it goes on sale… or at the very least, they’re very receptive to the offer.

And then you come along, and say:

“Hey, if you buy from me, not only will you get the product being launched, but you’ll also get my bonus package which is worth $1,997, absolutely free!”

And you scoop up a whole bunch of easy sales.

Now the next thing you’re asking is, “so where do I get that traffic?”

Well, one of the places is with Facebook. You target the fans of the top 10 and top 20 affiliates with your ads, which might look something like this:

That’s an old ad I used for one of Eben Pagans product launches.

You find out who the top 10 and 20 affiliates are, by keeping an eye on the leader boards, which the affiliate manager for the launch you promote will be sending you.

I used an ad just like the one above to promote a launch for Jonathan Budd, which made me 7.5K in under a week.
