Stress impacts your mind’s ability to be creative and resourceful in dealing with problems. 

Nothing new in that observation.

But what makes some of us so attached to our performance that every time something goes wrong, we stress out way too much. 

Sometimes stress builds up even when things actually are going well.

For many, it comes down to attaching achievements as the key to their identity and self-worth. 

It is a typical Hyper Achiever character trait.

The Hyper Achievers are commonly driven to achieve their highest possible achievement… so they can feel happy and worthy. 

In reality, the opposite happens. 

By defining yourself based on your achievements, you’ll never have peace in your heart or mind. 

This is because the Hyper Achiever constantly demands more and more as a condition for you to be happy and satisfied with yourself. 

It’s like a monster that is always hungry… 

The Hyper Achiever in you never let’s you feel happy for long.

It makes you constantly push yourself harder because you are not achieving “enough”. 

It makes you feel frustrated with others who aren’t as useful as they should be to reach your goals. 

It exposes you to self-doubt or a sense of unworthiness because your achievements are never enough. 

When you are experiencing any of the above negative emotions, it’s a sign that you are in a Hyper Achiever mode. 

You want to be a High Performer, not a Hyper Achiever. 

Because, at the end, Hyper Achievers achieve less, not more.  

The way to weaken the Hyper Achiever trait is not by getting upset at it or arguing with it. That will just feed the negative energies.

The way to weaken the Hyper Achiever is by activating the brain areas responsible for peak performance and feeling “in the flow.”

Functional MRI shows that it can be done in as little as 10 seconds of heightened attention to one physical sensation. 

You can do it, for example, by focusing on feeling the weight of your body on your seat for 10 seconds, or feel the weight of your feet on the floor, or feel your breath, or focus on hearing one ambient sound in the room. 

The 10 seconds of hyper-awareness on any of the above or other physical sensation of your choice will begin to shift your brain activity to a region where you can tap into your creativity and fearless, clear-headed and laser-focused action.

Your body releases endorphins, and you’ll feel at peace and positive, and perform better. 

When the negative Hyper Achiever thoughts and feelings come back, you get to repeat the 10 second exercise.

The more you do them, the more it lays down new neural pathways in the brain area for High Performance.

Instead of being High Performers, many entrepreneurs are Hyper Achievers.

“High Performance” is about consistently performing at your best. That is how you succeed beyond standard norms over the long-term.

The “Hyper Achiever” trait – as surprisingly as it may sound – has an adverse impact on your performance and effectiveness in whatever you are trying to achieve. 

Most entrepreneurial CEOs and Founders I have worked with experienced high levels of stress due what was going on in their company.

Many of them were strong “Hyper Achievers” who are typically emotionally highly attached to their performance and achievements. 

Glitches and setbacks – even potential ones – caused them anxiety and worry. And as a result they were emotionally drained. 

Being constantly stressed affects how clear headed you are in your reactions.

Chronic stress impacts the quality of your decisions.

Poor reactions and weak decisions cause more issues to worry and be stressed about.

Another impact on performance of the “Hyper Achievers” is the way they interact with others. 

They might get so focused on the goal that they might treat people as objects and tools to get to their goals. 

This can have a very negative impact on how they feel about themselves… and how others feel about them. 

Many Hyper Achievers give the credit to their behavioral traits for the success they built… yet in the process they sacrificed their wellbeing and important relationships.

On the other hand, there are lots of Hyper Achievers who have plateaued because they can’t see anymore where they are going.

Often the relatively minor adjustments and updates I have helped Hyper Achiever business leaders to do on their mental maps have dramatically improved how they achieve results.

• They performed better and experienced significantly less stress. 
• Their team began to perform better and there were less issues in between the team members. 
• Their work/life balance became remarkably more suitable for a human being. 
• They began to take much better care of their health, meaning that they slept sufficiently, took weekends off and had work-free holidays. 

In other words, they began to have a life that they had desired.  

AND… they continued to run a business that was under control and sustainably growing.

To shift from being a Hyper Achiever to a High Performer, you can start by observing yourself during your day. 

Check-in with yourself to see how often you approach tasks with the “work hard, succeed, and then I can be happy” – mentality.

Make a mental note on how often worry, anxiety or stress smears your discernment.

Notice how often you have a thought along the lines “I have to succeed with this, otherwise I am a failure.”

And how often work gets priority in your life, even when it comes to your personal relationships, or your own health. 

Catching yourself in a Hyper Achiever mode gives you awareness. 

Which, in turn, enables you to make choices that help you to become a High Performer. 

As a High Performer, you will continue building more success… without the daily misery.

The greater freedom is a universal driver of every Entrepreneur I know of. 

For some time freedom is what they want the most, for others, it’s the freedom to choose the people they work with, others are driven by unlimited earning possibilities, some are driven by freedom of purpose and self-expression.

However, many Entrepreneurs are limited by their need to justify it to other people. 

Sometimes they are surrounded by people who demand explanations, as means of coercive control, sometimes because of ignorance or narrow-mindedness.

Sometimes they feel that they need to justify to their past why they want something. Feeling captured by a 3rd party that doesn’t even exist anymore traps people in the most insidious manner, every day.

We all live with a sense of time consisting of past, present, and future. But we are not equal in our mastery of these time dimensions. 

If we are not able to be future-focused, the more we repeat what we have already experienced and achieved. 

On the other hand, the less we feel that we need to justify what we want – to others or to the past – the more liberated we become to bring ourselves toward greater freedom.

The more liberated you feel to want what you want, the more successful you become in creating your vision and your future – for the increased good for all.

How are minds so different? 

Every individual is unique in what they think about and how they think about things. 

Every individual is unique in what and how they think about their thinking.

Some people do it systematically and intentionally, others do it more instinctively and intuitively.

Some people are immediately resistant to thinking about their thinking.

Others are almost ecstatic at the idea that they can actually think about their thinking because it is part of growing and expanding this unique capability.

I’ve noticed that when people intentionally think about their thinking, they automatically gravitate toward having a much better and bigger future.

The huge benefit of being deliberate in observing and understanding how you think, is that it gives a better return on your thoughts.

You’ll  get a better return on your creativity… without acquiring new knowledge. 

All you need to do is have the tools to help you think about your thinking. 

Thinking tools that help you reflect on your own thoughts give you insight into your feelings, needs, and behaviors.

The right thinking tools provide you insight into how you learn, manage, and adapt to new experiences, challenges, and emotional setbacks – with the vast amount of past experiences we all have.

Every Entrepreneur I work with, their thinking is one of the main areas they want to improve. 

It gets them more time to focus ON their business instead of IN their business.

I’d say that all entrepreneurs think differently than the majority of people. 

The responsibilities and risks entrepreneurs are willing to take and the decisions they must do daily require a very different mindset and way of thinking than that of people depending on e.g. employment or the government.

Then, there is one distinctive difference that can be made between entrepreneurs and creative entrepreneurs. 

I have been able to witness this as a Transformational Business Strategist and Certified Coach to Entrepreneurs, having worked with entrepreneurs in very different stages of their businesses, in different industries.

It begins with the way they think. 

The creative, transformational entrepreneurs are typically innovators and change-makers. 

They are not excited about solely doing problem-solving or just fulfilling a need to carve their place in the marketplace. Furthermore, coaching them is less about solving problems in their business. 

They want to work on and are focused on creating new capabilities. 

First and foremost, they want to expand their capacity and create new capabilities for themselves. 

They have a desire to innovate and create what they want. They are motivated to materialize their vision. 

This work on expanding their capacity and creating capabilities enables them to transform the world around them. 

That is where they differ from most entrepreneurs. 

The majority of all entrepreneurs are trying to solve an existing problem, with already existing solutions, products, and services. 

There is nothing wrong with it. One can certainly make a good living doing that and have plenty of happy customers.

My first entrepreneurial enterprise 16 years ago was all about solving a specific problem in specific circumstances, with already known solutions. So was my next business.  

Albeit I was fulfilling a need my customers had, I was solving a problem for them, I outgrew these businesses rather quickly.  

If you are a creative person, being pigeon-holed with a problem-solving or need-filling kind of business can leave you feeling unfulfilled.

With a transformational kind of business, new capability is created. 

In general, the most successful entrepreneurs don’t try just to solve problems or fulfill a need. They try to create capabilities.  

They are motivated to create capabilities that they themselves want to have. 

Once they have a new capability to approach, understand, or do a thing, they can expand that through their business. Their vision turned into existing reality impacts other people and how they live and do things. 

Expanding their capacity and creating new capabilities brings them greater freedom, including greater freedom of purpose, amplified self-expression, and financial sovereignty.

Many entrepreneurs come to me and tell me how exhausting it is to run a business. 

Their thoughts about their business often sound like this: 

“My business drains me. “

“It’s too overwhelming.” 

“I don’t know anymore what to do next.”

“My employees aren’t doing what I want. ”

“It’s so hard to find the right people.”

This kind of thinking will never work. 

It will not get you what you are wanting to achieve: GREATER FREEDOM.

Greater freedom of time, money, relationships, and purpose. 

The truth is, if you want to grow the business, you have to grow the person running it. 

And the way to grow is by managing your mind. 

Any business strategy will have little impact if your mind is constantly telling you that nothing works.

Your relationship with your business is your thoughts about your business. In the same way that your thoughts about a person dictate your relationship with that person.

So if you are not thinking about your business in a positive way, with positive expectations, then there is no way you can create amazing results.

The way you think about your business will determine how successful it is.

This is why I suggest you write down all the thoughts you currently have about your business. 

Stop whatever you are doing and write all the thoughts you have about your business.

If many of your current thoughts about your business are negative, please don’t fret. This is totally normal, especially for those who are growing and ready to scale.

The way you think changes how you approach situations.

But I must tell you that your business doesn’t cause your thinking. It’s your thinking that causes your business.

Thinking is not just a soft skill.  

Strategic thinking is a deliberate process you must do regularly to manage your mind around your business. And to create your business.

Sharing this today because so many tell me that they have a marketing problem… and after I take a look at their marketing material, I can see that it’s not really the problem.

You see, marketing becomes rather simple when you know who you want to repel with it.

Ideally, your marketing keeps only your optimal prospective clients engaged.

Because what you write about, what to say and share resonates with them.

If you are not clear what your ideal prospective clients are experiencing and what their specific circumstances are for you to be remarkably helpful, it’s not a marketing problem….

… it’s a connection problem that makes your marketing feel difficult and dysfunctional.

If you’re not clear what qualifiers enable a person to get the FULL VALUE of your product or service, better copywriting not going to fix that.

Because you don’t have a messaging problem.

I doubt that prettier selfies or nicer branding are going to have much impact either…

But what does, is clarity of what specific qualifiers enable a person to get the FULL VALUE from working with you.

If you don’t know what those qualifiers are, don’t fret… you are not alone with it.

Indeed, I’ve never worked with somebody who wasn’t at least a little bit confused or slightly unclear on some things, including their ideal client targeting (myself included).

It’s a self-blindness issue.

Nobody can be fully objective about their own business.

So, if you feel challenged to see who will benefit the most from working with you and how to attract them to you, you are part of one of the biggest entrepreneurial clubs on this planet.

And yet, what you and your business deliver is irreplaceable and precious.

Each and every entrepreneur is unique and special.

What you do and deliver is irreplaceable and precious.

But none of them – ever – offer exactly the same thing in exactly the same way.

It’s because whom they connect easily with and how their skills, expertise, and experience work together is always unique.

What happens in business a lot of the time… most people go into business as a business persona, not the real version of themselves. 

The business persona is something you’ve been taught you have to be in order to be successful. It’s also the techniques you’ve been taught that you should use if you want to be successful. But it’s not really you… 

And what happens with that is that you attract clients who have things in common with the business persona, but not the real you. 

It’s hard work to relate to and interact with these clients. They can end up being nightmare clients. Or boring clients that you just have nothing in common with them. 

Working with them doesn’t energize you. Business doesn’t feel fulfilling.

The alternative way to do business is the authentic way. 

It’s all you, your values, beliefs, and life experiences.

And then you have your ideal clients and all their values and experiences. 

And just like with your friends, you have this Connection Zone of shared experiences, common beliefs and values, hopes and fears, and dreams. 

Whenever you relate to your prospects from this place, you can show them that you understand life from their perspective. It allows your ideal clients to be drawn more closely to you. 

Most businesses stop at demonstrating that they are technically competent. 

But you have to demonstrate to your prospects that you’re not just good at what you do, but that what you have in common so that they can learn to trust you. 

That you are the subject matter expert but you’re also engaged with what they really need and what’s important for them. 

That’s what Authentic Sales Mastery is all about. It’s about being clear about your Connection Zone and taking your marketing messages from this connection zone to create loyal fans and attract superb clients.

Selling our own services can trigger just about every bit of “stuff” we have!

That’s the conclusion from the input I received from closer to a hundred people.

They shared what – in their opinion – causes people to struggle with selling their services.

I am still organizing the responses but more than half of the responses mentioned Internal Issues such as…

Lack of self-belief, feeling not good enough, lack of confidence, low sense of self-worth, self-sabotage, imposter syndrome, perfectionism, overthinking, fear of rejection, fear of failing, procrastination, need of approval, self-doubt, and the list goes on….

Limiting beliefs can be an invisible, yet impermeable wall for many to be in the service to others with their business,  to the level their true capacity is.

However, when we were born, we all were 100% confident, having no doubt that we are 100% worthy and lovable. 

I mean, have you ever seen a newborn with the self-worth issues I listed above?

It only means that something happened to you, most probably several things happened, that made you conclude that you are somehow less, don’t belong, or that you or what you do doesn’t matter. 

First, we make our beliefs. Then our beliefs make us.

It can be one’s life’s work to resolve childhood issues.

There are many methods to do that, talking therapy, multitudes of self-development methods, and some great thinking model tools, just to mention a few.

Before you message me, I want to address one of the common concerns people, who are interested in RTT hypnotherapy for themselves have…

… it’s the concern about what might come up in hypnosis. 

If you have experienced something traumatic and you are afraid to face it, it’s a valid concern. It’s normal to want to avoid pain, that’s how we are wired.

However, in hypnosis, you are not re-living any of your past experiences. You only review them, you observe them like a detective.

Some of my RTT clients have described some heinous events of all kinds of abuse that they experienced as a child… whilst they remain calm and composed. I have seen people describe past violent experiences of being drowned, suffocated, or beaten… without a trace of panic or fear. 

It’s because they are simply reviewing the past events as part of the process of releasing them.

On the other hand, often the issues that the RTT client is suffering from have a root cause in events that weren’t initially traumatic. 

But the conclusion that the person drew from it at that time, snowballed into something that eventually caused the person to stall.

Sometimes, even if the person thinks they need to work through a mountain of trauma, the root cause for their issues today is something that sounds and seems so harmless that they would never have thought of it. And what you don’t understand, you can’t fix.

Thus far, all clients I have done RTT with have let go of past hurt, understood themselves better, felt lighter, and taken back power they felt they had lost, and upgraded some old programming that didn’t help them to operate as the best version of them, in the roles and responsibilities they have today.
