I assume that you already have a Posterous account. If you don’t, you can sign up for free. Go to VOX-to-Posterous import page at http://posterous.com/switch/vox/, and enter your blog URL at VOX.

Follow the instruction, and you will have your posts imported. Finished? Almost. Your posts will be available from your Posterous dashboard page.

They’re all imported, but not yet published. You need to do few more things. If you already have a blog under your Posterous account (note: you can have multiple blogs from a single account) you can merge the imported posts there. If not, just create a new blog, and merge them there. You will not loose your imported posts even you don’t assign them directly. Your imported posts will be assigned automatically in a temporary blog URL. Something like this: import-ppvf-wlzd.posterous.com. Rather than importing to my existing blog, I decided to create a new one.

Everything seemed work well. But, I found few things:

• Comments are not imported. If you have an active discussion in your VOX blog, this is something you expect not to happen.
• Inline images in posts are displayed and imported. The imported images are only what displayed in the original posts. For example, if you put thumbnails, only the thumbnails will be imported.
• Every imported posts will have a kind of footer text. This area will display the original URL at VOX and a send-to-friend link (also linked to VOX page).
• If you have tags in your posts, they’re not imported.

Overall, Posterous import system works well. I haven’t tried to import to Typepad or WordPress, so I can’t tell you the best service to deal with this import process.

Most of the stuff works just fine. There are some minor issues and performance problems, but I worry not. With the amazing amount of optimizations Qt+Nokia put in place for Qt 4.7 and QtWebKit 2.x, writing applications for Maemo/MeeGo will be fun (again).

Apa yang membedakan tahun ini dengan tahun lalu saat mudik? Salah satunya adalah ada jutaan pengguna social media yang ikutan mudik. Memang bedanya dengan pemudik lainnya apa? Hihi, nggak ada sih, cuma ini ada beberapa tips untuk para pemudik yang aktif ber-social media.

• Jangan pernah update status dengan detil kapan Anda mudik, naik apa, jam berapa, dan bahkan cerita kalau rumah Anda kosong tanpa ada yang menjaga. Anda nggak akan pernah tahu ada orang yang berniat jahat yang menjadi follower Anda. Jadi berhati-hatilah memberikan informasi.
• Cek juga apakah Anda pernah mengunggah foto yang mengindikasikan rumah Anda dengan jelas di Facebook, Tweetphoto, Twitpic, atau situs-situs serupa. Apalagi kalau foto-foto itu bisa diakses mudah oleh publik. Seorang yang pintar akan mudah melakukan profil dari kegiatan Anda di social media hingga korelasinya dengan foto-foto yang pernah Anda unggah. Kalau pernah mengunggah foto lokasi rumah, sebaiknya dihapus dulu deh.
• Ingat Foursquare dan Gowalla? Hayo, pasti masih banyak yang memberi tanda rumahnya di situs itu. Mereka yang menjadi Mayor di rumahnya sendiri berhati-hatilah. Siapa tahu selama libur Lebaran ini status Mayor Anda ini menjadi tak bermakna apa-apa, karena isi rumah Anda tiba-tiba kosong setelah Lebaran. Alias, ada yang menggerayangi rumah Anda, karena kesalahan Anda sendiri di social media, memberikan alamat rumah (dan petanya) dengan jelas.
• Butuh informasi mudik? Ikuti @pulkam di Twitter. Ada beberapa teman yang sukarela meluangkan waktunya selama liburan ini untuk menjadi kanal informasi seputar mudik dan pulang kampung. Atau kunjungi situsnya di sini. Informasikan arus mudik dan foto-foto menarik saat Anda pulang kampung dan berbagilah dengan @pulkam. Niscaya informasi ini akan memberikan manfaat bagi orang lain.
• Ada pula aplikasi BlackBerry iMud yang bisa Anda unduh di sini. Melalui aplikasi ini Anda bisa melihat foto-foto CCTV keadaan lalu lintas jalan tol. Ada pula tips dan info seputar posko mudik dan bengkel resmi Yamaha. Kalau mau lihat livestream videonya langsung, cek saja ke situs Jasa Marga.
• Terakhir, social media memang memudahkan Anda dalam berkomunikasi, termasuk dalam mengucapkan selamat lebaran kepada teman-teman Anda. Hanya saja, jangan sampai ucapan selamat lebaran mohon maaf lahir bathin itu menjadi bumerang bagi Anda, saat Anda mengunggah gambar kartu ucapan di Facebook dan men-tag semua teman Anda di dalamnya. Bayangkan betapa risihnya teman Anda kalau menemukan namanya di antara orang-orang lain yang ia tidak kenal. Tag-lah teman Anda yang hanya dalam satu kelompok, supaya kartu Anda bisa menjadi ajang silaturahmi komentar antara sesama yang memang sudah saling kenal.

On the evening, I had plan to have dinner with my girl. That should be a nice dinner. But, it turned into bad situation when I realized that I didn’t have my Nokia E72 with me. That was the time when all food were on the table. I haven’t touched anything — well, not really ‘anything’, but only some peanuts. Last time I remembered was that when I was in a taxi. I called the taxi operator and worked with the guy on the phone. I even called the taxi driver and asked him to pick us again. No luck. In short: I lost my phone. Now, I only have 5800XM with me.

It was the first time I lost my phone. And, I think I just started to love my E72. Since I don’t have it with me anymore, I canceled some plans I made with the phone like making some video episodes using it for my videoblog, exploring camera features, and more. But, I also feel lucky to get chances to work with it — I only had it with me for about 3 months, anyway. And, what made it worse is that I was not easy to find at that time. I visited more than 6 phone shops and ended at Depok with little bit higher price. And, there was only one item in stock. BlackBerry came to my plan at that time, but after comparing some features, I think I made a right decision.

I was waiting for few weeks to share my experience with this toy, but since I don’t have it with me anymore I will share how I use it. You can call it a review if you want.

Note: This is NOT a sponsored review. I wrote this based on my personal experience and observation.

The first thing I did was to make Ovi Map work. When I fired up the phone, I it took few seconds to recognize my location using built-in GPS. Great. Since I also have my 5800 XM synchronized with Ovi Maps, I just synchronized the data into my E72. Easy, without any issue. It took some moments to experience its full QWERTY keyboard — yes, it’s my first phone with full QWERTY keyboard.

Camera

Nokia E72 equipped with 5 MP camera. I forgot which picture I took for the first time. This is an example of the photo taken using the camera. When I took this object, the weather was a little bit cloudy. But, I like the final result.

Compared to my Nokia 5800 XM, I like E72 camera results. And, I took more pictures with it. I used in in some occasions like when I made Jakarta Carnival 2010 and Festival Jajanan Bango videos. The videos were not taken using camera phone. I use the camera to take photos as additional information for those episodes.

You can go directly to Jakarta Carnival 2010 and Festival Jajanan Bango photosets to see more sample photos. All photos were taken from my camera phone, without editing process.

What about videos? I couldn’t find any single video in my laptop right now to show you the video quality output. But, I just realized that I did a video streaming few times. You can go to my Qik Channel to see some sample videos. Please not that the real results should be much better. For my video streaming settings, I use the lower quality to reduce the delay.

Other notes

I decided to buy this phone because of my work too. I can check email, managed some Twitter accounts, checking Facebook (sometime), and also messaging. In short, this phone can increase my productivity. Or, I will say that it helps me to be connected with the internet and doing some online activities almost without any big issues.

But anyway, I don’t have it with me anymore. I can accept this. Yeah, it was my bad and unlucky day. I hope whoever who has my phone now can get a great experience like what I had. So, for my phone’s new owner: enjoy! I just upgraded the phone software on the day I lost it, and I have installed some Ovi applications there. If you like World Cup, I still have Vuvuzela app there too.

Still remember VOX? Or, maybe you haven’t heard VOX before. It’s another blogging service by Six Apart (the company behind Typepad and also Movable Type). This service was launched back in October 2006. And, I was lucky to be one of its early users. When this service was introduced for public, I got an invitation to try. And yes, it was in 2006. Some people wanted to try it.

I didn’t update my VOX-powered blog regularly, and my last post was in 2007. Ouch! That was three years ago. Few days ago, Six Apart announced that the service will be closed on September 30, 2010. Six Apart has some notes regarding the update:

• Vox is no longer accepting new user registrations.  If you have an existing Vox account you can continue to sign in to manage your account and view posts from your neighborhood.
• On Wednesday September 15th, you will no longer be able to create new posts on Vox or upload new photos or videos. You will still be able to sign in to view your blog and manage your account.
• On Thursday September 30th, your blog will no longer be available at Vox.com, and you will no longer be able to sign in to Vox.

Blogging service battle is getting more interesting these days. The competition among the players is interesting to follow. I think more new services provide easier and more fun ways to blog. Also, the tumblelog-style blogging is getting more popular. Just look at Posterous or Tumblr as an example. Maybe Six Apart will focus on its main products (Typepad and Movable Type) in the future. Or, will Six Apart come with another new service?

If you have a VOX account, you can migrate your contents to other services. Six Apart recommends Typepad, of course and also Flickr for media files. More details about the migration can be found at closing.vox.com. But, you have other option like moving your contents to Posterous or WordPress.com. I haven’t decided whether I will secure my contents there or not. Good bye VOX.

Seperti bisa dilihat pada log diatas, pengakses mencoba dictionary attack menggunakan berbagai nama user untuk mencoba akses. Meski akses tersebut gagal dilakukan, server tetap terbebani karena terpaksa melayani request yang masuk.

Salah satu cara yang bisa ditempuh untuk melindungi akses SSH adalah dengan menggunakan aplikasi denyhosts. Aplikasi denyhosts melindungi ssh dengan cara memasukkan IP pengakses kedalam daftar blacklist jika beberapa kali salah memasukkan password.

Proses instalasi dan apliksinya sangat mudah. Berikut adalah proses instalasi pada openSUSE 11.3 :

1. Buka [http://software.opensuse.org/search openSUSE Build Service]. Cari aplikasi denyhosts. Sesuaikan versi openSUSE yang digunakan. Jika tidak ada aplikasi untuk versi openSUSE yang digunakan, silakan ambil paket untuk versi yang berdekatan, misalnya SLES 11 SP1 bisa menggunakan package untuk SLES 11 atau untuk openSUSE 11.1, 11.2 atau untuk openSUSE 11.3.
2. Install menggunakan one-click-install
3. Review file konfigurasi /etc/denyhosts.conf. Pada distro openSUSE, denyhosts secara default akan menganalisa file log /var/log/messages, namun mungkin saja kita perlu mengubah nama file log untuk dianalisa, misalnya jika menggunakan aplikasi Zimbra, denyhosts bisa diperintahkan untuk mengakses file log /var/log/zimbra.log. Check juga mengenai jumlah maksimum kesalahan pemasukan password dan pilihan lain yang tersedia.
4. Jika konfigurasi sudah sesuai, jalankan denyhosts dengan perintah :

   
   service denyhosts start
   service denyhosts status
   

5. Jika menginginkan agar denyhosts otomatis berjalan saat booting, aktifkan service denyhosts dengan perintah :

   
   chkconfig denyhosts on
   

6. File log denyhosts bisa ditemukan di /var/log/denyhosts. Jika ada pengakses yang diblaclist karena memenuhi syarat (misalnya gagal memasukkan password sebanyak 5X), denyhosts akan memasukkan IP pengakses kedalam file /etc/hosts.deny

Berikut adalah contoh saat denyhosts memblacklist salah satu IP :
