Snake Encounters

I had an unfortuante encounter with a snake on the weekend. Well, not an actual snake but the remains of one.....it's skin. (insert snake shiver NOW!) Not a big fan of snakes really! Anywho, with a friend, I managed to prun the tree I had found the snake skin in back so that it was away from the house and put a call into Liz from the Australian Reptile Park on the Central Coast of NSW for some advice on how to minimise the risk of having a snake around the house. For advice and to learn more about reptiles and wild animals, check out the Reptile park in person or head onto their website. Thanks Liz for the support and your time in reducing my fear of snakes in the backyard!

It's the time of year for New Year Resolutions, and whether it is to exercise more, spend time with the family, work less or even eat more healthy, there is no better time than to start something fresh. To help with the better eating saga, I came across this great article about the Top 10 Foods to boost your eating right habits. I didn't realise that many of these existed, let alone could be added to everyday cooking. Why not try to add a few into your meals this year. They include black rice, beet greens, kefir, LSA and Seaweed. Many contain high levels of antioxidants and numerous vitamins. Click on the link below to read the full article.

You can help raise money in the fight against Diabetes by purchasing this song on iTunes for $1.69. All money raised will be donated to the JDRF (Juvenille Diabetes Research Foundation). What a little legend!

Operation Christmas Child

OPERATION CHRISTMAS CHILD

Samaritan’s Purse has changed the lives of children through Operation Christmas Child since 1993. Every year, generous people across the world lovingly pack shoe boxes with gifts – simple, yet powerful messages of God’s unconditional love.

Join me over the next couple of weeks as we fill an empty shoe box with gifts of love for this Christmas. At around 7:15am (EST) each Saturday morning, I'll set the weekly challenge as we pack a shoe box together.

So far....

We've found a shoe box and wrapped it creatively

We've chosen the gender and age of our shoe box recipient

We've placed 'some things for school' in our shoe box (e.g., pencils, exercise book, chalk, eraser etc.)

We've placed something to Love (e.g., teddy bear, doll, soft toy etc.)

We've placed something to play with in our box (e.g., tennis ball, cars, skipping rope, marbles, finger puppet etc.)

This week's challenge: Something to wear (e.g., T-shirt, shorts, underwear, cap, beanie, sandals etc.)

DROP OFF POINTS

ACT: 4 Bocciarini Court, Jerrabomberra NSW 2619

NSW: 13 Binney Rd, Kings Park NSW 2148

QLD: Suite 5, 167 Hyde Rd, Yeronga QLD 4104

SA: 18 Pleasant Grove, Holden Hill SA 5088

TAS: Unit 1, 76 Mornington Rd, Mornington TAS 7018

VIC: 8-12 Simla St, Mitcham VIC 3132

WA: 6/13 Cressall Rd, Balcatta WA 6914
