What is a digital runway show as well as why is it a threat to our fashion traditions?

  Models today are humans, just like the rest of us. And today humanity has a new disadvantage that is haunting us in the present time. Models are not immune to coronavirus, so they have been working way less than they did before, something quite evident due to the normality we all are experiencing right now.

  Some models never stopped their photoshoots, but runway shows are impossible to make during a time like this. Think about it, runway shows were one of fashion's largest incomes. People from all over the world traveled to the trendiest cities only to watch designers show off their talents in this specific event.

  But how are designers showing off their talent during the pandemic, you may wonder? Well, it is not new that humans have developed a lot of technology that has been extremely helpful during this time. And fashion terms are no exception.

  May I present to you?

Digital Runway Shows and all its glory, I guess.

  Designers started to use this method as soon as they saw the situation was getting worse. I have no idea if you have ever seen a digital runway show, but practically it is a video where they program virtual models and make them virtually wear their clothes.

  And how may this new tool affect the fashion term we all know? As I have already mentioned before, models are unneeded for runway shows. This reality makes their income less abundant than it was before lockdown.

  But I don't want this article to be that boring advantage and disadvantage essay a student writes for English class. I am willing to present this article as my posture about this week's subject. And that leads us to the question I am about to ask.

So what is the big deal about digital modeling?

  There are so many different opinions and arguments about this specific topic. I did a little research myself before expressing my thoughts on the subject, and I realized everyone has their unique vision about this controversy.

  There are a lot of questions related to new fashion ways. What will happen to real modeling? And what about those gorgeously decorated fashion shows? What about the economic deal fashion shows gave to those popular cities? Will tourism decrease? Will fashion ever be the same?

  And to define my point, I must say I am sort of concerned. I know fashion is one of the biggest industries in the world. According to statistics, this industry only takes up to four percent of our economy. I know that it does not sound like a large number, but its market value takes up to 406 billion dollars. See?

Yet I am not concerned about money, at all. As you may already know, I am a fashion fanatic myself, and fashion is all about tradition. So what could happen if runway shows are drastically changed? But don't panic, I hope that after this circumstances fashion could make a comeback better than ever.

What can we do in the meantime?

In the meantime, the only thing that is left to do is stay home. I know everyone is telling you this, but please do. It is for humanity's wellness.

And how is this related to fashion? What I am trying to say is that when the time comes, runway shows are going to relaunch. Traditions may continue. Models may start working again. And not only that, but the whole world can begin to rebuild itself. So in the name of Visionary, stay home. Stay safe.

Fashion During a Global Pandemic: What has changed?

Wear a mask, the phrase you have probably been tired to hear every single day in your daily life.

I am not going to lie, this phrase has bombarded our society for over six months. Think about it, half a year has gone by and this global crisis has become even worse day by day.

But do not feel overwhelmed, this crisis has affected everyone, not just yourself. And this is why I took the time to give my opinion on this specific topic.

We have all heard about how stores have been shutting down due to the effort they made in staying open. And I know this is not the only consequence the pandemic has brought to our lives, but right now it is something affecting humanity.

I am sure that at some point a thought like this has come to your head, something like, well they were millionaires anyway it won't hurt to lose a couple of dollars.

That is the most selfish comment I have ever heard in my entire life. Like seriously?

Perhaps you are just focusing on those brand owners who, in most cases, are the millionaires in the company. But what about those who depended on the store? For instance, people such as employees who earn money from working in a store so they can afford to live. And what about those who worked on manufacturing the brand's clothes? Or those people who worked at the shopping mall as janitors?

Isn't it shocking? How a simple microscopic organism can affect humanity that much? Unemployment is not the only thing humanity is going through but is one of the main struggles the virus brought us.

But as you may have already noticed, those companies such as museums no longer have enough money to maintain those employees with smaller roles. Astonishing, right?

But let's leave this controversy aside and focus on what I want you to see today. The word I started this entry with. The word you have been sick of hearing on repeat. Let's talk about masks.

Masks.

That word means something more than a material object. That word represents health, and it is now playing a huge role in our dearly beloved fashion world.

And how may a piece of cloth be used to cover half our faces be used as an element in fashion?

Everyone is now forced to adapt to the new normality, so the fashion industry decided to start mixing things up themselves.

I don't know if you have looked at brands' new collections recently, but if you've been paying attention you might notice that brands are now selling their designer masks.

Really? Masks are now considered an accessory to your outfit. Perhaps not every single brand has followed these footsteps, but you may also know the "fashion" term changed itself. And can you guess who did it? You did.

Fashion Nowadays has changed due to people's clothing picks, selecting comfort over stylishness.

How many times have you thought to yourself something like, well it doesn't matter, I will be staying home all day anyway. Or perhaps something like, I do not need to buy new clothes if I will be stuck at home all year.

Every time you think something like that to yourself, the fashion industry is being affected gradually. And I am not referring to the fact that you may not think this way, let's be honest, everybody has done it at least once.

Leaning back to our main point, every time someone decides to wear something more comfortable or something just for staying home, the way designers and companies design their clothes change completely.

Brands' main goal is to sell, right? I mean who are you kidding? Selling is what they do for a living, and what best than adapting themselves to their customers' preferences. That is exactly why you see brands choose comfy over stylish for the last few months.

This industry is complicated. Its very dependant, yet very creative at the same time. Fashion evolving through the years is a phenomenon we can not control, but you know what? I sort of like it.
