The Wine Bar at the Shoppes at Harbor Villages is an excellent spot to unwind and share a glass with a friend. It also serves as a venu for local artists, including bay area photographer Robert Buelteman. A San Francisco native, Bueltman’s work embraces the same spirit of exploration and discovery that first dawned during his childhood when the natural beauty of the area evoked in him a recognition of space and light. His work is remarkable and brings to the viewer a new understanding of the poetic nature of California’s unique landscape.

Robert Buelteman’s work will be in display at the Wine Bar for the month of August. Please visit the the artist’s official website, http://www.buelteman.com, for more information.

Artwork can act as a form of rejuvenation and enrichment as well, and that can certainly be said about the 50-50 Show at the Sanchez Art Center on Linda Mar Boulevard in Pacifica near Half Moon Bay.

The art show will feature the artwork of sixty seven artists who produced the exhibited work over a 50-day period exploring a single theme in one medium. The work was selected by Marian Parmenter, co-founder of SFMOMA Artists Gallery and fills three galleries, providing an ample amount of material to take in during a visit.

Crab Landing is an excellent spot for fresh seafood with a magnificent view. The menu of the Pillar Point Harbor restaurant features everything from the delectable Dungeness Crab and Lobster Cioppino to a Chocolate Lava Cake that is to die for. However, it’s not just the food that will fill you up, but the live music as well. Bay area jazz singer Cathi Walkup will be entertaining the clientele of the Crab Landing on Saturday, August 21st and 28th. An internationally renowned singer, Cathi Walkup is one of the most accomplished female jazz vocalists of her age (just visit her website http://www.cwalkup.com/music.html and have a listen if you don’t believe me!).

If you are in the Half Moon Bay area and looking for the perfect evening out, look no further than Crab Landing. Combining fine food and fine sounds, it’s a match made in heaven.

There’s nothing quite as relaxing as authentic Irish music to accompany a shared drink. Located in Shoppes at the Harbor in Princeton Harbor, the Wine Bar will features the musical stylings of The Lighthouse String Band each Wednesday throughout the month of August. The Wine Bar was founded in 2007, reflecting the eclectic taste of owner and operator Claudia Marshall. Offering a delicious range of small sandwiches and specialty cheeses, the ambiance of the restaurant is bolstered by a display of local art. Make sure to leave room for a slice of the Devil’s Own Chocolate Cake, or just skip to desert if you like!

In addition to an impressive cellar, draft and bottled beer options are recommended from the North Coast brew to Alagash. If you are looking for an ideal place to unwind after a day at the office or a quiet spot for a night out, the Wine Bar comes highly recommended.

When looking for new ways to stay fit, sometimes the best practice is to look to the past. The ancient and time-honored tradition of belly dancing has long been a uniquely held method of toning one’s body as well as embracing an enchanting method of dance! The dancer known as Malia has been entertaining audiences with her dance troupe for some time, but she has also found the time to pass on her knowledge through instructional classes. This is a great way to combine your heart and body… and it is also a lot of fun.
When you travel across this great nation of ours, you see the most amazing sights. Just off Highway 92 in scenic Half Moon Bay, California are the Dinosaurs of Spanishtown. At first glance, you’d think that you had stumbled onto the set of the next Steven Spielberg movie, but the gigantic metal sculptures are very real and leave a lasting impression for even the most jaded amongst us. A home to many local artists, Spanishtown is a magnificent spot to shop for pottery and other handcrafted goods.Just be sure to tip the dinosaurs on your way back to the car.

A landmark to the area, the Moss Beach Distillery is an historic establishment dating back to the Prohibition era of 1920’s when it produced home-brewed whiskey. Situated on the seaside, guests find themselves faced with a spectacular view of the ocean making for an overwhelmingly romantic experience.Don’t be so taken in by the view that you forget the food, however, as the local halibut and sea bass are highly recommended. While you are waiting for the main dish to arrive, I advise dining on the shooter trio that includes several varieties of oysters and perhaps a tasty cocktail. If you find yourself seduced by the Moss Beach Distillery as many have been over the years, have no fear as Cypress Inn is a short drive away. The Moss Beach Distillery is also the ideal spot for anniversaries, weddings, corporate celebrations and other special events, so keep this spot in mind for your next get together. For more information including seasonal specials, please visit the official website, http://www.mossbeachdistillery.com.

Located in the luxurious Half Moon Bay Inn on Main Street in beautiful Half Moon Bay, It’s Italia is like a little slice of Italy. So lovely you can taste it, the restaurant was founded in 1977 and offers up Italian cuisine by way of the California coast. The pizza is famous, but don’t discount the lamb or calamari which are equally desirable. My personal tip is to bring a large group of friends so that you can sample more of the menu. The kitchen uses only local produce, resulting in a fresh and wholesome flavor.

When you dine at It’s Italia, you may also be lucky enough to arrive on a night when live music is performed by local musicians, so make sure to check their calendar of events online. Aside from the casual dining experience, It’s Italia can also cater special events, so keep them in mind for wedding receptions, family reunions, anniversaries or other unique dates.
