Reno Street Food
Reno Street Food, also known as “Food Truck Friday,” has become one of the biggest Food Truck events in Reno Tahoe. This party in the park features 20 local gourmet food, craft dessert, beer, wine and mixed drink vendors. This family-friendly event is hosted at Idlewild Park, which has plenty of grass and room for children to play or to lay out a blanket as local musicians provide free entertainment. Reno Street Food is free to the public and begins on May 20, 2016 and will go through every Friday until September 30, 2016.

Feed the Camel
Feed the Camel is Reno’s weekly hump day food truck bazaar. Local food trucks convene under the Keystone Bridge, serving unique specialties, along with local beer. This event is held at the McKinley Arts and Culture Center in the Riverwalk District, an easy walk from downtown Reno, next to the Truckee River. Feed the Camel starts on June 3 and will run every Wednesday through September 30 from 5 pm – 8 pm.

Moana Food Truck Round Up
Coming soon is Reno’s newest food truck event, the Moana Round Up. The Moana Food Truck Roundup will consist of selected Reno/Sparks mobile kitchens, including Fatburger, Battleborn, Still Rollin, Schmee’s, Schnitzel, All Wrapped Up, Tap Wagon, Bibo Freddo, Java Ship, Slater’s Ding a Wing and many more. There will be plenty of parking, family-friendly activities such as Level Up Curbside Gaming, comfortable outside seating and live music.The Moana Food Truck Roundup will kickoff April 28 and will continue every Thursday through early September.

Rancho Red Rock

Rancho Red Rock has been putting people and horses together since 1975! All horseback riding lessons are private and can be anything from a walk around the ranch, introducing you to all the horses,  to grooming, tacking up, a gentle beginner lesson  or a ride out in the valley or hours in the hills. If you don’t think horseback riding counts as fitness, you’ve probably never tried getting in the saddle. Riding can be a great way to strengthen your back and core as well as give you some balance and flexibility. Yee-haw!

Le Cirque Vagabond

No one is suggesting you run away with the circus, but you can certainly check out the Le Cirque Vagabond circus training program. Their instructors boast professional backgrounds, competitive experience, and six competitive titles. Their on-going classes train you in aerial silks, aerial ballet, straps, Chinese pole, pole dance and balancing, trained by producer and director Ben Pierson. Aerial silks and pole class consists of break falls, dance steps, conditioning and technique. Come in and become a class act or burn those calories. They even have private lessons available for pole, balancing and silks.

I am having so much fun at the Whitney Hotel that I am staying another night in Reno! Sure, the earthy chic boutique hotel design is gorgeous — the first I have seen that frames and hangs @instagram art on the walls; the concert venue, organic, locally farmed food, craft beers, etc are on point; but what I love most is that everything to the bed linens is made from sustainable, recyclable products. Base Camp Reno is a part of the Whitney Hotel to promote casual elegance and the city’s active lifestyle. I probably should have anticipated this, Reno being the closest major city to Burning Man — but I had no idea. Love it here! Ditch the ski jacket for a collared shirt and khakis- Alpine Meadows’ Annual Snow Golf Tournament is back for its 33rd year! As the only top-to-bottom snow golf course, this highly anticipated spring event is a unique way to spend a day on the slopes with the whole family. The nine-hole course starts at the top of Summit Express Chair and meanders its way down the mountain with the last holes bringing competitors back to the bottom of Alpine Bowl Chair.

Northstar California : Spring It On! Closing Weekend

Sat. April 16 – Sun. April 17

Saturday: Teams of 4 will compete in a single elimination style volleyball tournament. The Arctic Volleyball Court will be set up on the snow in front of the Lodge at Big Springs at Mid-mountain. All ages are encouraged to participate. The tournament is limited to the first 8 teams that sign up, however the court will be open for non-tournament style play.

Sunday: Complimentary Face Painting and Balloon Twisting, PLUS live music will be at the Lodge at Big Springs.

Sierra-at-Tahoe : Customer Appreciation Day

We have planned our closing day for Sunday, April 17th. Shred in the sunshine until then + join us for Customer Appreciation Day on April 18th from 10-2pm.

Skiers and riders of all ages can purchase a lift ticket for $30 on April 18, 2016. All of the proceeds raised from the day’s lift ticket sales will be donated to sponsor youth recreation and education including youth baseball, soccer, swimming, and other youth activities.

All guests are invited to join John Rice, General Manager, and the rest of Sierra’s managing team for the official “last run of the season” from the top of Grandview Express beginning at 2:00 p.m. Last call at the Sierra Pub will be at 2:45 p.m., in time for the ending of all winter operations at 3:00 p.m.

The 26th Annual Cushing Crossing is the best event of the spring season. The original pond skimming event that started a spring resort ritual. Original Bridge circa 1890- photo: Nevada Historical Society

A celebration was held Tuesday, April 12 and included champagne toasts, speeches by Reno historians, a special bridge lighting ceremony, and plenty of first experiences walking the new bridge. Nearby businesses are also thrilled for the project to come to an end and welcome new and returning customers to stop in with the added pleasure of a beautiful view. Check out great local spots like Wild River Grille, Reef Sushi & Sake, Ole Bridge Pub and Campo to see it all first-hand. Bar Hopping is a Long-Standing Tradition

Throughout its history, there once were as many as 115 bars and saloons in Virginia City. Today, there are close to 15 open for business, many of them resembling their original appearance. Their most recent addition is just one more awesome stop to add to Reno Tahoe USA’s growing brewery scene. Virginia City Brewery and Taphouse brews and sells over 10 different styles of beer. They have also introduced saloon crawls for visiting adults to learn a little while they drink a little. There are four crawls scheduled in 2016 and each have their own creative theme while guiding participants through some of the city’s most beloved buildings. Events as Unique as the Town Itself

There’s no doubt about it, when you come for entertainment in Virginia City, they don’t disappoint. Their event schedule stretches from February through December and you won’t find a more eclectic list of events anywhere else. For example, the International Camel & Ostrich Races are held in early September while the World Championship Outhouse Races are at the beginning of October. Of course, there are plenty of museum specials, train rides and food events if you want to keep it simple. Just don’t count out the Rocky Mountain Oyster Fry! Their newest event is The Way It Was Rodeo held September 17-18. Enjoy some good, old-fashioned fun with bronc riding, barrel racing and more.

Dine the District Food Tour
Have a taste of some of the best restaurants in the Reno area at Dine the District Food Tour on May 7th. From 1 pm – 4 pm, stroll through the Riverwalk District and feast on the many options of culinary excellence, spanning from Thai cuisine to pizza. Pre-sale tickets are $20, $25 at the door, and help support the continued development of the Riverwalk District. There are only two Dine the District tours a year, so buy your tickets early before they sell out!

Wine Walk
The Wine Walk has become one of Reno’s most popular and signature events. Have a taste of Reno’s culture, and take a stroll through the Riverwalk District, sampling wine at various merchants along the Truckee River and neighboring streets. The Wine Walk is every third Saturday of the month, from 2pm – 5pm. This month’s Wine Walk is on April 16 with the theme, “Back the Pack.” Tickets are $20 and include a hand-decorated wine glass, an ID bracelet that allows you to sample wine at any participating merchant, and a map of all the participating locations.

Beer Crawl
If wine isn’t your drink of choice, but beer is more your thing, the fourth Saturday of every month is the Beer Crawl. For $5, you receive a wrist band, map & glass to use for $1 refills of 6 ounce beer samples at multiple downtown Reno locations. This month’s beer crawl is on April 23 and is from 2 pm – 6 pm.

Twisted Shamrock: Beer, Wine and Spirits Tour
Who said Irish festivities are only for the month of March? On April 30, celebrate the spring season the Celtic way and enjoy beers, wine and Celtic inspired cocktails from the best restaurants and pubs in the Reno area. There will be live entertainment including dancers and bagpipes. Pre-sale tickets are $20, $25 at the door, which will help support continued development of the Riverwalk District and the Heritage Organization for the 26th annual Celtic Celebration.

Youth Art Month

Over 200 art pieces created by 75 northern Nevada special education classes will be on display at Arts for All at the Lake Mansion. The exhibit is open Monday – Friday from now until April 22, and is free to the public.

Order and Chaos: A Marriage in Reno

The Metro Gallery inside City Hall is hosting artwork from Los Angeles based visual artist Avery Falkner from now until April 15. Falkner’s exhibit is influenced by the natural environment and the complexity of man-made urban structures. This exhibit is free to the public.

Science Saturday – Exploring the Titanic with a “Passenger”

Watch a live presentation from the perspective of a passenger on Titanic’s maiden voyage. View the dome show, “Night of the Titanic”, with sections on deck, at sea and under the ocean, participate in a hands-on workshop assembling and testing a radio transmitter and Morse Code key and take a simulated dive aboard a submersible to Titanic’s final resting place. All these events will take place at the National Automobile Museum on April 9, from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Theater and Live Performances:

Deathtrap

The longest running comedy-thriller on Broadway, Deathtrap, will be performed at the Bruka Theatre from April 15 – May 14. Tickets for this Tony Award nominated play start at $20.

Rock of Ages

This wild musical takes you back to Hollywood in 1987 where Hollywood’s trademark bar was facing the possibility of being torn down so the city could abandon the sex, drugs and rock-n-roll lifestyle. Rock of Ages will be showing at the Eldorado Theatre April 26 – July 24. Tickets are for ages 16 and over and start at $26.95.

The Frozen Snow Queen

The Frozen Snow Queen is a classic ballet filled with mesmerizing dance, intrigue, and is fun for the entire family. It will be performed at the Pioneer Center for the Performing Arts from April 9 – 10, with tickets starting at $25.

Broadway Comes to Reno: Million Dollar Quartet

The Tony Award -winning Broadway musical will be performed at the Pioneer Center for the Performing Arts from April 29 – May 1. inspired by the true story of the famed recording session that brought together Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash, Jerry Lee Lewis and Carl Perkins for the first and only time, tickets for the show start at $45.

Salute to Hollywood

Reno Jazz Festival

Founded in 1962, this highly respected festival has showcased some of the best talent in the Jazz world. Enjoy three days of concerts, clinics and competitions on the University of Nevada, Reno campus. In addition to well-known performers, middle school through college-age musicians compete with their school bands, vocal groups and ensembles from around the country.

Reno Chamber Orchestra Presents: Mozart’s Requiem

Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s final composition, the Requiem, will be featured and performed by the Reno Chamber Orchestra in collaboration with UNR Chamber singers. Attend the concert on Saturday, April 16 at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, April 17 at 2:00 p.m. at the University of Nevada, Reno’s Nightingale Concert Hall starting at $25.

Reno Ukulele Festival

The 8th annual Reno Ukulele Festival is one of the largest events of its kind and includes workshops, musical performances, a vendor marketplace and much more. The event runs April 14-17 at the Nugget Casino Resort with two concerts running Friday and Saturday evenings.

Listen to 17 lively bluegrass and acoustic root bands at the WinterWonderGrass festival held in Squaw Valley from April 1 -3. This 3 day Blue Grass and craft beer festival will feature 16 craft breweries, and will focus on sustainability, local non-profits and support of the arts.
