I’ve found these 3 videos about SEO. Why am I talking about SEO, well it’s an important topic to cover especially for all you web video producers out there.

I’ve written in the past about YouTube SEO. The right SEO can help your videos get found by more people and help you find out what people are searching for with keyword research. Over the years SEO has been given a bad wrap by people promising over-night solutions and quick fixes to help you rank. The most important thing to remember about SEO is to create valuable content from the keyword research you do. I hope you enjoy these 3 videos about seo and if you have any of your own favorite please feel free to post them in the comments.

This is a great video from the good folks over at SEO MOZ. This video is a great overview of Video SEO. One major point that is brought up in the video that I think people often forget is the text transcription of your video’s audio. This can be tedious to complete but relatively inexpensive to outsource and is just an added bonus for your readers, and also more data for the search engines to index.

Video SEO from Aaron Wall
SEObook.com is a great resource for anyone looking for a robust community to learn SEO. Aaron brings up an interesting point of posting your video content to your site first and then to YouTube. You will always rank better by posting videos to your site first because your website will benefit more from the link juice. Video sitemaps are a great way to host your videos on other video platforms such as Wistia, and still get the link juice (or credit) for having the video on your site.

On-camera anxiety can be a real problem for some people. I still get butterflies when I’m in front of the camera but there are a few way you can deal with these nervous feelings and get shooting web videos in no time.

Here are the key take-ways from the video:

Practice Makes Perfect

You have the luxury of re-shooting multiple takes. If you mess up—don’t worry—just hit the record button again.

Create an Outline, Don’t Use a Script

Outlines are great. They help you stay on message but still let you freestyle while your shooting your video. I personally don’t recommend using a script. I find they make you sound disingenuous and cold. Outlines let you stay personal.

Watch other presentations

Watching other people present is one of the single best ways to get better at shooting your own web videos. Learn from the pros, take notes about how they tell stories and what their tone is like. You can learn a lot by watching and listening. Below are some links to web videos that you can use for research.

TED talks – This is an outstanding resource. Required watching!

Man the Go – Great video blog series by Chris Brogan and Youtube users.

Chris Penn – Chris has a great personal style in all his videos. He is also very concise and gets to the point. I appreciate that.

Worry about not sharing, don’t worry about the equipment

Stop worrying that your video looks crappy or you wore the wrong shirt. Instead, you should be worrying that you’re not sharing your wealth of knowledge. Now get shootin!

I have a second part to this video that will be coming out in the next issue of my web video tips newsletter. In it I talk about helping your actor or actress deal with on-camera anxiety.

The Blue Yeti Microphone is a great addition to anyone’s web video kit.

Here are the key take-aways from the video.

The Blue Yeti Microphone is USB powered so you don’t have to worry about having cords all over the place.

It’s great for doing screen-casts, webinars, and Skype calls.

It has four different pickup patterns so it’s very versatile.

The Yeti has an on-board headphone jack so you can monitor your microphone levels without delay.

It has a convenient “cough”/ mute button on the front of the microphone.

It also has a super long USB cable so you record audio where you’re comfortable.

Audio is sometimes more important than high quality video so get a decent microphone for your web video kit.
