Vancouver Wedding Photographer | Janie and Hagen’s E-Session

For my first engagement session of 2012 I had the pleasure of photographing my friends Janie and Hagen! I met them through a friend of a friend a while back and they were amazing to work with. Not only that, they were very open minded and gave me creative freedom in terms of theme and art direction. I suggested something along the lines of “chic and edgy” and that made them very excited! Prior to weddings, I used to shoot fashion quite a bit, so I’m always looking forward to an opportunity to incorporate my fashion background into what I do now.

The first part of our session took place at the fabulous Rosewood Georgia Hotel in downtown. Once we finished there and had Janie and Hagen do an outfit change, we headed off to the Olympic Cauldron by the Vancouver Convention Centre for part 2. Being in a more casual environment, we shifted gears in terms of mood and switched from edgy and daring to fun and relaxed. Thank you weather gods for giving us good weather!… sort of.

Vancouver Wedding Photographer | Jaime and Gabriel

December is usually a quiet month for weddings as most couples in Vancouver traditionally get married during Summer or Fall. So when Jaime and Gabriel asked me to photograph their wedding on December 3rd, I was excited to be granted the opportunity to capture the special day of one last amazing couple before the end of 2011. I’ve known Jaime for a couple of years due to the fact that we’re both ballroom dancers, though Jaime is at least 100 times better than me.

The day started with Jaime’s preparation photos, we then proceeded to the wedding ceremony and lunch reception, which were both held at Horizons Restaurant located at the top of SFU Burnaby Mountain. Afterwards, we headed down to the Vancouver Convention Centre for some post-reception photos! Despite the fact that our time was limited, as a photographer I have to say I absolutely loved shooting there. Love the photos even more!

Vancouver Wedding Photographer | Ultimate Shootouts Vancouver

I recently attended the first event held by Ultimate Shootouts Vancouver. Hosted by Pure White Studio, Butter Studios, and Stone Photo and attended by more than 30 photographers (myself being one of them), it was a collaborative endeavour where 4 different couples were gathered (one of the couples being Annie Chang of our studio and her fiancé), had makeup and hair done, and photographed in and around Ironworks Studio in Vancouver. The photographers from each of the studios above acted as guides and helped us all produce some of the amazing shots we took. It was the first event of its kind in Vancouver and both enjoyable and enlightening from beginning to end. Below are some of my favorite photos from the event.

Something a little different.

Before weddings my passion was fashion photography, and it’s still something I love shooting to this day. I was excited then to hear from Christine of C Williams Photography when she told me she needed assistance for a editorial styled bridal shoot. The shoot lasted almost an entire day and the weather was chilly, but our hardworking team performed fantastically.

Vancouver Engagement Photographer | Sheena and Kenny

I had such a fun time photographing Sheena and Kenny’s engagement session! I met Kenny over a year ago and Sheena more recently, and from the brief time I’ve known them as a couple I can say they are absolutely awesome for one another! Good times strolling around Gastown and Coal Harbour in sunny Vancouver (we definitely got lucky with the weather that day). Be sure to check out their engagement slideshow at the end of this post. Richmond Portrait Photographer | Shayla & Michael | Couples Session

I had the pleasure of taking photos of Shayla & Michael at the end of August last month. Having been married for three years and with Shayla’s birthday coming up, they wanted to celebrate by getting some beautiful pictures taken. Like most couple shoots I started by having them relax and warm up to the camera, but in almost no time they became so natural to the sound of the shutter that you would have thought they were models! Oh, did I mention that they have the most adorable dogs? Photos taken at Britannia Heritage Shipyards in Richmond and Deer Lake Park in Burnaby.

I had the pleasure of photographing Don & Jessie’s wedding in the first weekend of August. What amazed me though was that they only started planning for their wedding 9 days before their actual wedding! (it’s a long story that I won’t go into here) And I have to say, for only 9 days of planning I was mightily impressed that they were able to pull off a wedding reception for 90 people! I haven’t planned a wedding myself but I’m sure I’d need a lot more than 9 days. Here are some photos from their pre-reception photo shoot at Queen Elizabeth Park.
