On Saturday, April 16th, Dani Arranka’s “Be Like Me” music video debuted on the big screen in the Real Art Ways‘ theatre. It was a fabulous event full of amazing performances by Dani Arranka and local talent, such as Celcius911. Dani’s birthday celebration was full of glamour and electricity. There was a buzz of glee and excitement floating in the air. One couldn’t help but feel proud of Dani’s accomplishments. With artistry and a style that’s all his own, Dani Arranka is truly one of Hartford’s rising stars. “Who’s Johnny?” She said and smiled in her special way. Well Johnny’s the “J” in the VJ of course. Actually the J stands for John, but my friends and family from home call me Johnny. When I was growing up I always got the “Heeeeeere’s Johnny!,” “Johnny be good,” “Johnny,.. angry Johnny,” the list goes on and on and on… I particularly got a chuckle when people would say “Johnny 5 is alive” from the 1986 hit movie, Short Circuit.

I stopped introducing myself as Johnny when I left my hometown of Danbury to go to university in New Haven, CT. I was in a bigger, new city meeting new people. I had to use my full name for filling out registation forms and when talking with professors. So I started introducing myself with my full first name when meeting fellow students. The reply was “What? Do you have a nick-name?” I hesitated and probably shook my head. The thing is that I never thought of Johnny as a nick-name. I just thought of it as my name and before I could say anything he said “Can I call you VJ for short?” I said sure, that’s cool. And then it stuck. Everyone started calling me VJ. I was in a new place with a new name, ready to be the new me and do new things. Young and innocent Johnny, made way for experimental/try anything VJ…

Fast forward ten or so years later and I’ve moved back to my hometown. Where old friends and family know me as Johnny. Now I have new friends that know me as the cute, gay, wise, sexy Johnny. The new Johnny is here and my birthday draws near. Come February 2nd, 2011 I will have reach the age of thirty-five. I find myself at a new reboot in my life. I’m working part time and have time to go back to school. I feel like I’m starting over again… in search of a new job in the even bigger, New York City.

The fumes from Johnny5’s shell has been setting off my carbon-monoxide detector. It’s a bit disturbing so I put Johnny5 in another place until I can send it off to be recycled. Luckily the data on the hard drive is fine. I plan on getting this docking station so I can still use it to store files.

Johnny5 loved making new friends, playing music, surfing the net, playing with pixels and podcasting. The PowerMac G5 is survived by it’s Apple Cinema 23″ HD Display, the original iSite, the 5th generation 60GB video iPod and the adorable iMac G4 (17-inch Flat Panel) and Johnny6 aka the 15-inch MacBook Pro 2.6GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor.

Another death and birth in the VJnetcast family is that of the VJnetcast.com and VJnet.org domane names. 2010 has been a year of financial struggle and the re-newing of site registation was not in the budget. Unfortunately we have lost the ownership of vjnetcast.com. The boys from TheOccasionalFag.com were kind enough to e-mail me a screenshot of how vjnetcast.com now “helps you get hard!” Check it out below. lol
