My entry for the vlogdeathmatch - drunk, underwear seeing as it never got show at vloggercue. In fact some of the others did not either so maybe i got it all mixed up or something - or lets say it was selective processing involved. Either way here it is. Amazing what you can get people to do when you pay for their drinks! - thanks guys for doing it.

Btw, this was all edited together in my layover time in amsterdam before flying out to the states for vloggercue (which btw was awesome - so thanks everyone) it was was a pretty tiring weekend as i was travelling so much and such a rapid trip. I enjoyed every minute thou. I hope some of you can attend or watch the video streams of podcampuk in september!

Yesterday evening, on the way home over London Bridge in rush hour, listening to my iPod, I was overwhelmed by the urge to flip open my phone and record this for the VlogDeathmath.com Drunk Underwear Karaoke Challenge.

Its not for the win, just something silly I did in one shot to get the ball rolling, because nobody else had posted one yet. And to show people that they don't need to get too freaked out by any issues of quality, production values, nakedness or anything else. You just need to cut loose.

So it's not on the scale of Anarchy in the UK, but it was fun to do anyway.

And if I'd known it was going to be shown to an audience on a big screen when I recorded it, I would have done it at twice the resolution. And I would have done it in my underwear. And I definitely would have done it drunk.

The illustrious Adam Quirk and Maestro Charles Hope bring you the newest deathmatch! From Quirk's post on the Yahoo! Group:

Drunk Underwear Karaoke.

You can choose to use any or all of those 3 words
as a basis for your video.

For example, you could:
1. Get drunk
2. Put on some underwear
3. Sing a song

Or you could:

On Saturday, August 11 at 4pm there will be a screening of all the Drunk Underwear Karaoke entries at the Pioneer Two Boots theater in the East Village of New York City, followed by a Q&A discussion with any vloggers in attendance, followed by Vloggercue in Brooklyn: an evening of grilled meats and vegetables, great local beer, and possibly some friendly banter if we're lucky. Plus you'll get to meet my cat.

This challenge was designed (by several high-ranking Blip staffers, the curator of the theater, and myself) to attract non-vloggers. We figured those three things in any combination would be enough to entice any sane person into a theater.

Congratulations to theburg.tv, music video makers who overcame a formidable field of entrants to stand with past Vlog Deathmatch winners in the pantheon of history.

The variety, breadth of talent, and artistry in this deathmatch was inspiring. We reached wider and farther than ever before to bring creators into the fold.

While I'm always rooting for the knives to be sharpened and the ugly side of competition to rear its head, these contestants conducted themselves with grace and class. Kudos to you all.

But of course, there cannot be a winner unless everyone else loses. This is the nature of Vlog Deathmatch--a zero sum gain--and it is incontrovertible. The glory belongs to theburg.tv, and the rest of you are simply cast into the dustbin of history.

Perhaps someday the light of victory will shine on your path to righteousness, but for now losers must wander alone in the dark waiting for another opportunity to demonstrate that your parents were wrong about your choice to pursue online video as a career.

Theburg.tv owns Bedford Ave. while the rest of you ride at least two L stops into East Williamsburg.

The Music Video Challenge deathmatch deadline has passed as of May 14, 2007, 11:59PM PST.

Despite the absence of almost any fun, nasty, spiteful, shit-talking, this was a remarkable deathmatch. 20 entries. 20! From all over the world, no less. The array of different talents and styles would make my mother proud if she still spoke to me.

We now hand the final decision over to the community. Vlog Deathmatch is, first and foremost, a competition. No one can win unless everyone else loses. No bitching, no moaning, no crying, no whining. Shut up and take what's coming to you.

I think a Vlog Deathmatch is supposed to be a challenge to do. It should put us out of our normal comfort zone of what we normally do so that being in the deathmatch is facing a creative challenge and an opponent challenge. "Anything Goes" should not be a rule in Vlog Deathmatch. I didn't try very hard in this entry so don't vote for me.
