I have observed that small business owners too often can fall into “the familiarity trap”. Hard pressed for time, many hire those they already know from a non-work setting. With falling into this trap critical skills and abilities often take a back seat. Without a doubt, identifying proper selection criteria, though requiring some upfront time investment, far outweighs fixing hiring mistakes that could have been avoided.<br />
