Karaoke Prog of Campers

During the Camp at Ashram, on one of the evenings the Campers had a program of Karaoke Singing. Poojya Guruji asked everyone to try singing, even if they had not sung earlier, because the role of teachers is to facilitate the manifestation of the inherent & latent potential in their students rather than expect immediate perfection - and most of them did open up. With simple singing effort many were surprised that even they can do it, and were thus enthused and inspired to explore themselves further. Karaoke gadget indeed made the effort easy and enjoyable.

Few of them sang for the first time. Here are some small clips of the songs sung by few of them. All of them were not recorded.

Discourses of Gita Chapter 15

Discourses of Drg-Dryshya Viveka

All the discourses on Drg-Dryshya Viveka which were given during the recently concluded Sadhana Camp at Vedanta Ashram, Indore have been uploaded, and are available for free download by anyone.

Overall there are ten talks - all in Hindi. The length of all of them range from 90 min to 100 mins.

Sadhana Camp Concludes

The five days Sadhana Camp concluded very satisfactorily on 25th Jan evening at Vedanta Ashram, Indore. The discourses on Drg Dryshya Viveka and Gita Chapter 15 (Purushottam Yoga) were very intensive & elaborate, and the campers were spell-bound, as though hearing it for the first time. While the weather was overall cold the new Ashram facilities made the stay of everyone very comfortable.

The newly installed lift was thoroughly used and the quality was very much appreciated. On one of the days we had Camp Fire and BBQ dinner outside. On other day everyone opened up for the Karaoke singing. Lovely bhajans followed on another evening. Swamini Amitanandaji taught the chanting of Annapoorna Stotram.

On the last day all the campers expressed their profound joy & gratitude for everything - knowledge, love, comforts, food & concern for the smallest possible thing. They all felt that Vedanta Ashram is indeed a home away from home.

On 26th Jan, the Republic Day, the tricolor was hoisted by one of the campers - Ashok Bhatia, and the National Anthem was chanted by all.

Sadhana Camp starts at Indore

A five days Sadhana Camp starts at Vedanta Ashram on 21st Jan 2012. The delegates will arrive by 20th, mostly from Mumbai. The subject matter of the discourse series during the camp will be Drg-Dryshya Viveka and Gita Chapter 15. There will be chanting of Annapurna Stotram apart from sessions of conducted Meditation and Bhajans. Poojya Guruji will conduct the classes of DDV & Gita, while Poojya Swamini Amitanandaji will handle chanting sessions.

Gita Gyana Yagna at Jodhpur

A Gita Gyana Yagna of Poojya Swamini Amitanandaji was organized in the grounds of Samanvaya Dham at Jodhpur from 11th to 15th Jan 2012. The text of the discourse series was Gita Chapter 14. The discourses were in Hindi.

Earlier on 10th Jan she visited an Ashram in Sojat City where she was received honorably. The Madhadhipati of the Ashram Swami Chetan Giriji had studied Vedanta alongwith Poojya Swaminiji at Sidhbari.

Satsang at Jaipur

A two days Satsang of Poojya Swamini Amitanandaji has been organized at Jaipur on 8th & 9th Jan 2012. The satsang has been organized at Siddheshwar Mahadev Hall of Divine Life Society, Raja Park, Jaipur. Earlier the Mahatma of the DLS spoke for few minutes telling all about the topic of the day and the speaker.

Poojya Swaminiji spoke on the topic "Mam Anusmar Yudhya cha", which was nicely received. There around 100 devotees, who were offered Prasad of Chole-Puri & Kheer after the talk.The organizer of the program is Sardar Surinder Singhji.

The topic of the talk on 9th Jan will be "Sarva Dharman Parityajya" and the talk will be at 9.30 AM at the same place.

Yogi is Four Years old now

Yogi, the darling of Ashramites, friend of Balvihar children, terror of all passerby's, completed his fourth year on 1st Jan 2012. Everyone at Ashram celebrated his birthday with lots of love and also lots of eatables which he loves most. He had his field day with no restrictions.

Swamini Poornanandaji put a tika on his forehead amidst chanting of shlokas, which obviously did not mean anything for him, but a lot for others to exude their loving prayers, and heartfelt love, gratitude & blessing. Shuklaji had brought flowers & special sweets for him, including papaya and his seasonal favorite, oranges for him. He showed that he remembers all the lessons taught to him by Swamini Vidyanandaji when she was at the Ashram at the time of his arrival.

Conclusion of GGY Mumbai

The Gita Gyana Yagna at Mumbai by Poojya Guruji concluded at BHA Hall in Mumbai with great satisfaction for all concerned. Next year when the VM completes its 20 years of service, the members of VM plan to have a grand function, somewhere out in the open.

On the last day of the Yagna, Poojya Guruji also released a book published by Mohan Lala giving out his lessons in Music Study. It gives steps to study the basics of Classical Music learning.

Cultural Program: 15th Dec

A special Flute Recital Program by Salil Date and his group was organized at the Sankaracharya Sabhagruh (Terrace Hall) on 15th Dec evening. The program was very well attended, and Smt Malani Gaur, the local MLA also graced the occasion.

The program started with the chanting of Purusha Suktam by the three Swaminiji's of Ashram. This was followed by the formal lighting of a lamp by Poojya Guruji and Ashram Mahatmas. Then there was the chanting of Vishnu Sahasranama by Soham Date. Thereafter the Program Comperer Sh Arun Kapoor invited Salil Date to take over. After that the time stood still and everyone was spell-bound reveling in the beautiful rendering of famous bhajans on flute. Poojya Gurudev conveyed his blessings to all and in invoked all to take to the things prefered by Bhagwan Krishna - flute and most importantly the message of Bhagwad Gita. Poojya Guruji cut the Birthday Cake, and lovely dinner for all followed.

Rudrabhisheka by Poojya Guruji: 15th Dec

Early morning on 15th Dec, Poojya Guruji conducted a Rudrabhisheka of Bhagwan Sri Gangeshwar Mahadev at the Ashram Temple. The abhisheka was done with Shiv Mahimna Stotram chanted by all the Ashram Mahatmas.

Lift Inauguration Puja

The Project Lift was satisfactorily over two days before the planned date of 15th Dec at our Vedanta Ashram. After a formal Puja by Poojya Guruji the Lift was declared open for all.

The project took around three months, and apart from the installation of lift, many other very important infra-sstructural work were also done. The lift has been supplied by Kinetic Elevators, Ahmedabad, and has many advanced features, apart from good local service backup. This facility will be a blessing to our aged & handicapped devotees and almost expands the area of Ashram three fold.

Lift Installation Completes

Project Lift is near completion, and the formal handing over is likely on 13th Dec 2011. Poojya Guruji was given the test ride on 12th morning. The project took around three months of hard work, and patronage of dozens of devotees from different part of the country and few from abroad too. With this facility lot of aged and handicapped devotees will also be able to access the upper rooms, satsang and dining hall of the ashram situated on first & second floors.

Apart from the main work of Lift installation, during this construction phase, various other important things were also done, which included: construction of a new big store room, extended hall on ground floor, extended sit-out on first floor, extended dining area on 2nd floor, a new Shiv-Linga on terrace, shifting of Solar Heater, carving out a new guest room, re-organization of water supply system, major repair of water leakage in the first floor guest room, construction of a green-house with a small hanging garden on Mandir terrace, and re-organization of ashram garden, curtain creepers, potted plants etc. was also done. Overall it was a very major work. We are grateful to Bhagwan Sri Gangeshwar Mahadev who made so many devotees instrumental to contribute their hard earned money for such a social & cultural cause, and ofcourse the hard work of various workers, technicians and engineers who worked day & night to make such a big project successful in such a short time. The target of Lift was 15th Dec, and that was over two days in advance. Now some cosmetics remain, which will be all completed by Dec end, and painting by Sankranti.

To commemorate the new facility, a special function has been organized on 15th Dec evening. A special Flute presentation program by Salil Date followed by dinner.

Gita Jayanti at Ashram

Today, on the day of Gita Jayanti, the Mahatmas and devotees of Vedanta Ashram assembled to chant the entire Bhagwad Gita. Gita Jayanti is celebrated every year on Mokshada Ekadashi, when Bhagwan Sri Krishna gave this divine discourse to Arjuna.

Swami Pranavananda visits Vedanta Ashram

Poojya Swami Pranavanandaji, a Mahatma of the Swami Akhandananda Ashram, Vrindavan visited Vedanta Ashram on 5th Dec evening.

He is in Indore in connection with the ongoing Gita Jayanti Celebrations in the city. He has also worked very nicely in the tribal belt of MP, and has even adopted children of those remote areas for regular samskaras. He was very happy to visit the Ashram and get darshan of Poojya Guruji.

Poojya Guruji speaks at Gita Bhavan

Poojya Guruji was invited to address the devotees at Gita Bhavan on 5th Dec evening. This place has been instrumental to organize a mega annual celebrations of Gita Jayanti - of a national scale, inviting the heads/acharyas of almost all the sampradayas.

Poojya Guruji spoke on the topic of an ideal student of Gita, as revealed by Bhagwan in the fourth chapter of Gita. The talk was very nicely received by the august gathering.

Sw Amitananda at Gita Jayanti Prog

On 4th Dec 2011, Poojya Swamini Amitanandaji was invited as the main speaker at the mega Gita Jayanti Celebrations at Agrasen Dham, Indore. She spoke on the famous shloka of Chapter 9, where Bhagwan says that whoever has Ananya Bhakti shall directly see that it is God alone who takes care of our Yoga & Kshema.

Gita Jayanti Celebrations Inauguration

The 14th Gita Jayanti Celebrations at Agrasen Dham was inaugurated by Poojya Guruji Sri Swami Atmanandaji on the evening of 3rd Dec 2011 - by formally lighting a lamp. This is an annual mega program, and such a program is organized at other places in the city too.

Poojya Guruji in his inaugural address told about the importance of Dharma. Dharma-sankat was the problem of Arjuna, and establishing Dharma is one of the objectives of Bhagwan during his avatarana.

The program concluded with Gita Aarti and prasad.

Visarjan of old Shiv-Linga

The giant Shiv-Linga on top of Vedanta Ashram, which had been the identity mark of Ashram from last ten years was given a visarjan after a formal puja. The old give way to the new, is not only the law of nature but more specifically the work of Bhagwan Shankar himself, and thus we have a more sturdy and solid new Shiv-Linga in the offing.

The old Shiv-Linga got concealed in the various new constructions at the Ashram, so it was decided to have a new one which is more visible. With the blessings of God we got a nice place for this on top of the Lift Well. The construction of the new Shiv-Linga has already been started and we will have the new Shiv Linga by new year.

Green-House on Mandir Terrace

Vedanta Ashram has a new addition - a Green-House on the Mandir Terrace. It has been aptly named as Hari-Kuti. Hari means both green and also God. So it is a green-house to revel in god.

The first part of Hari-Kuti is a passage lined with various pots of plants, which are all hanging, so in a way it is our small 'hanging garden'. At the far end there is a small cosy sitting closet with an inner ambiance of a hut, this will be shortly covered with creepers. A batik painting of Ganeshji adorns the front view. In the night the garden will be lighted with soft green LED lights. The whole structure was first fabricated and then covered with porous green cloth used for green houses.

Timeline of Lift Albums

Project Lift was started at Vedanta Ashram during Ganesh Chaturthi festival in Sept 2011. Since then good work has been done, and god-willing by New Year the Ashram should have this additional facility.

By Nov end (at the time of posting) the lift tower, the machine room, extended roofs for passage areas had been completed. Some finishing touches and plastering have started. Along with the lift, we also got an additional store room, a green-house and a guest room in the process. The lift people have come and have started their work too. The main machinery should come shortly from their factory at Ahmedabad.

We have been keeping track of the developments, and have prepared a timeline of the photo albums of the entire project. Various devotees responded to Poojya Guruji's appeal and have donated magnanimously for the project. Please check out our page Timeline of Photo Albums of Project Lift.

Samataji takes her parents for Tirtha

Poojya Swamini Samatanandaji took her parents for a pilgrimage to Omkareshwar Tirtha. Sh Nandlal & Smt Deepa Sachdev came n stayed at Vedanta Ashram for few days. During their stay they not only conducted the Rudrabhisheka of Bhagwan Sri Gangeshwar Mahadev (see Album) but also visited the two famous Jyotirlingas near Indore - Mahakaleshwar at Ujjain and Omkareshwar on the banks of Narmadaji.

Omkareshwar is a two hours drive from Indore, and is on the banks of River Narmada, and is on an island, and can be accessed either by boat or the two suspension bridges. Now there is a big dam near the tirtha too. The devotees first took a dip in the river and later had a nice satisfying darshan of Bhagwan Omkareshwarji. Things became easy because of the presence of Poojya Swaminiji. Later they had a nice lunch at the idyllic Restaurant of MP Tourism overlooking the entire city.
