Singham (English: Lion) is an upcoming action film directed by Rohit Shetty starring Ajay Devgn and Kajal Aggarwal in the lead roles. The film is a remake of the successful 2010 Tamil film, Singam, which was directed by Hari and featuring Suriya in the lead role. Theatrical trailer was released along with Salman Khan's Ready on 3 June 2011.

Production

After the success of the Tamil film ,Singam, directed by Hari in 2010, the film's remake rights were sold by the producers for Hindi andKannada versions. The co-producers of the Tamil version, Reliance Big Pictures also purchased the Hindi remake rights and announced in November 2010 that the version would feature Rohit Shetty as director and Ajay Devgn in the lead role.^[1] Prakash Raj was signed on to reprise his role if the antagonist from the original, whilst reports emerged that Asin and Anushka Shetty were being considered for the female lead role.^[2] Anushka later declined the offer and was subsequently replaced by Kajal Aggarwal, another actress who had predominantly featured in South Indian films in her career.^[3]^[4]

The first schedule began in early March 2011 with action sequences shot in Goa featuring technicians from South India.^[5]^[6]

Salman ‘Sal’ Khan (Bengali: সালমান খান) is a Bangladeshi American educator, socialite and founder of the Khan Academy, a free online education platform and not-for-profit organization. He has produced over 2200 videos elucidating a wide spectrum of concepts, mainly focusing on mathematics and the sciences, in his home. His official channel, 'Khan Academy' has, as of June 2011, attracted more than 60 million views.

According to the Khan Academy's website, Salman Khan's parents are Bengali by ethnicity. His father hails from Barisal, Bangladesh and his mother is from Kolkata, India.^[1]^[2] Salman Khan was valedictorian of his high school class (Grace King High School). Khan holds three degrees from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology: a BS in mathematics, a BS in electrical engineering and computer science, and an MS in electrical engineering and computer science. He also holds an MBA from Harvard Business School.^[3]^[4]

In late 2004, Khan began tutoring his cousin, Nadia, in mathematics over the internet using Yahoo!'s Doodle notepad.^[5] When other relatives and friends sought his tutelage, he decided it would be more practical and beneficial to distribute the tutorials on YouTube where he created an account on 16 November 2006.^[6] Their popularity on the video sharing website and the testimonials of appreciative students prompted Khan to quit his job as a hedge fund analyst in late 2009 to focus on developing his YouTube channel, 'Khan Academy', full-time.^[7]

His videos attracted on average more than 20,000 hits each. Students from around the world have been attracted to Khan's concise, practical, and relaxed teaching method.^[6]

Khan outlined his mission as to 'accelerate learning for students of all ages. With this in mind, we want to share our content with whoever may find it useful.' Khan also plans to extend his 'free school' to cover topics such as English and history. Programs are being undertaken to use Khan's videos to teach those in isolated areas of Africa and Asia. He delineated his motives:

With so little effort on my own part, I can empower an unlimited amount of people for all time. I can't imagine a better use of my time.^[8]

Salman Khan has been featured on the Colbert Report, PBS NewsHour,^[9]^[10]^[11] CNN,^[12] and National Public Radio.^[13] In 2009, the Khan Academy received the Microsoft Tech Award for education.^[14] In 2010, Google provided $2 million to support the creation of more courses and to enable the Khan Academy to translate its core library into the world’s most widely spoken languages.^[15] In October 2010, Khan was tied for #34 in Fortune's annual "40 Under 40," a list recognizing business's hottest rising stars.^[16] In March 2011, Salman Khan was invited to speak at TED by Bill Gates who claims to use the Khan Academy Exercise Software to teach his own children. In May 2011, Salman Khan appeared on The Colbert Report to talk in an interview about his teachings. He told the audience how he planned to use his software to revolutionize the field of education. Included in his interview was a montage of notable teaching moments from Khan's YouTube channel.

Bodyguard (Hindi: माई लव स्टोरी) is an upcoming Hindi romantic action film directed bySiddique. A remake of the director's own 2010 Malayalam film, Bodyguard, the film is being produced by Atul Agnihotri and features Salman Khan and Kareena Kapoor in the lead roles.^[1]Bodyguard is scheduled for release on August 31, 2011.^[2]

Production
Shooting for the film began on January 16, 2011 in Pune and later continued in the historical town of Patiala.^[4] The film's original soundtrack will be composed by Himesh Reshammiya along with one song by Pritam.^[5]
